Memo to Gingrich: 'Red card' is path to amnesty
WND ^ | 11/25/11 | Tom Tancredo

f Newt Gingrich is a "policy wonk" as his friends proclaim, he is a very lazy one. He should have read the Kriebel Foundation's "Red Card Solution" before endorsing it as a non-amnesty solution to our immigration conundrum.

The so-called Red Card Solution purports to create a new guest-worker program that solves all of our immigration problems. It strengthens border security, helps employers fill low-skilled jobs, bars criminals from participation and does all of this by "empowering the private sector" without use of taxpayer dollars. Maybe in the fine print it also wipes out the national debt.

The problem is, it does none of those things, and anyone who takes time to actually read the full 41-page "white paper" instead of the press handout will see this.

Newt agreed to shut down the border and no more amnesty 25 years ago since then all he has done is swap wives and chase the hired help.

A ILLEGAL 'migrant' has been in this country for 24 years. He has a home and a family. Newt thinks it is 'humane' to offer legal status to the man's neighbor who has been in this country 1 year longer denying the same status to the man who has been here 1 year less.

Newt's amnesty plan is fatally flawed.

Gingrich is part of the problem (Amnesty to illegals) and NOT part of the solution.

Yes, Gingrich is part of the problem.

The Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 promised to control our borders, implement sanctions on employers of illegal aliens, enforce current immigration laws, and oversee a humane and orderly path to citizenship for long-term, "law-abiding" illegals.

Over three million illegal aliens were granted amnesty, but the borders were not secured, there was extensive document fraud, and, owing to lack of political will, millions of illegal aliens continue to flow across our borders. Our jails have a substantial proportion of illegal aliens supported by taxpayers. The current administration discourages enforcement to the extent of jailing our border guards, and punishing States attempting to enforce the law. We now have 20 or more million illegal aliens wanting amnesty.

Politicians continue to lamely promise to secure our borders, while soliciting the votes that 20 million illegal aliens could provide if they were granted amnesty.

The bigger problem with illegals today is the direct result of failure to keep the promises of the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. The politicians today want us to do it again only with a new Immigration Reform and Control Act, with the same false promises and attendant results. What a deal!

Spare me your hairsplitting. The Red Card white paper says this about its plan:

Do you actually trust Newt to keep his word about securing the borders and not buckle under to pressure from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, LaRaza, the media and his “Beltway buddies?”

Who do you trust?

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/2812475/posts reported that 40 million people change addresses in this country every year.

Gingrich and others of his kind (apparently not at all observant) think it's simply not possible to RELOCATE 12 million illegal aliens ~ which is only 30% of the normal level of movement in this country.

I think our leiders should be required to drink coffee in the morning in huge copious quantities ~ then be injected with stimulants several other times a day until they literally BZZZZZZZ .

There's no excuse for their belief that America can't move people!

There is really no way to gather up between 10 and 20 million people and ship them somewhere else without massive violence and mass casualties. Police would have to be involved in raiding houses and arresting people. Look how much trouble one Elian Gonzales raid was, and then repeat that 10 million more times. I don’t think I’ve heard anyone talk about just how they’d go about locating, gathering up, and shipping off that many people.

1) seal the border
2) make English the official language
3) turn off the magnet - no welfare benefits to non-citizens
4) establish a guest worker system where anyone in the county illegally has to register for a card to be allowed to work legally. Registering for that card establishes the location of the illegals, and gives an indication of the number of illegals that are really here. I’d bet it’s a lot more than 12 million.

Now that the influx has stopped, the magnet is off, and you know how many are here and where they are, figure out if and how you’re going to deport them.

Any solution that starts with “deport them all” unfortunately won’t work. They’re not going to politely raise their hands, line up, and go peacefully home. We don’t know where they are now, so what makes anyone think we could even find them all? Are we willing to raid a Catholic church that’s offering sanctuary?

I think it’s fine to criticize Newt, but I don’t think I’ve heard a workable plan that addresses the entire problem besides the one he is proposing.

And yet another poster who offers up the amnesty or boxcars false dichotomy while ignoring the perfectly rational approach to creating conditions to where illegals want to self-deport.

No E-Verify, no workee
No E-Verify, no welfare

Most would self deport.

Why are you attacking the messenger? Was there something said about the Red Card that isn't true? Do you support amnesty?

Newt has a record, he was Speaker in the 90s when illegal immigration grew worse than ever. All we got under his leadership were more amnesties (six of them), no sealed borders, and no enforcement.

Did you know that in 1998 he stopped Clinton from enforcing employer sanctions? Now you expect us to believe that he'll get it all under control this time? That's a fool's errand.

Sure whatever... just be sure to get back to us once step 1 is accomplished. Until then, why create a new incentive to entice people to come here illegally? Without more than “oh yes, of course” lip service to secure borders the whole thing is just more bait to bring more people in.

The main job of the federal government is to protect our borders. Newt wants to punt that to the private sector. One wonders what other parts of the constitution he has no intent of obeying.

Rush already nailed the red card plan. ACLU & other litigation buddies would have them legal citizens in no time under an “equal protection” legal maneuver.

Gingrich is for amnesty = scratch Gingrich

And don’t give me that bull about he doesn’t want to give them amnesty... he just wants to allow them to stay... lol so Gingrich wants to allow these illegal invaders to stay and keep taking jobs away from the citizens of this country? and keep driving down the wages of the citizens of this country?

go away Gingrich.

Cain is my man.

Self Deportation was working pretty good here in Alabama for oh maybe about a week until Eric Holder stuck his nose and legal team into it.

Like magic, jobs opening up, long lines of people ready to take those hard and not very pleasant jobs according to the news reports. Also, an exodus from the schools, good for that too, we can’t afford to educate the illegals children. Probably same for all the hospital maternity wards, we can’t afford that either.

Self deportation with strong laws with the ability and will to enforce them would take care of a good many of the lawbreakers.
