Newt Gingrich Spanks Romney on Twitter
Ace of Spades HQ ^ | 11/23/2011 | Ace

Posted on 11/23/2011 10:06:40 AM PST by TBBT

The basics of this were covered by Drew, below, but this is Newt Gingrich himself saying it, from his own Twitter account.

Romney is pretty brazen about forgetting his myriad past positions. It's just odd to me that he attacks aggressively on an issue like this, when he himself has pro-amnesty statements in his very recent past. (So recent they are pop culturally relevant.)

It might be some kind of strategic decision that the best defense is a shameless offense, or a calculation that people can only remember the attack and not the counter-attack.

Or it could be that he is thinking -- with some justification -- that the base is going with various unknown quantities and, because they are unknown, they are blank screens upon which the base can project its own hopes (as Barack Obama observed about himself in 2008 ). Ergo, each candidate flies to the top of the heap because the base projects on to each newest blank slate a perfect (or near-perfect) conservative record. So Mitt's calculation may be "You all know I've flipped and flopped and am really not terribly conservative, but you don't know that each of your new Flavors of the Week have done similar things, so my mission is to bring each candidate's Romneyesque deviations from conservative orthodoxy to your attention. Then you'll see each is nearly as flawed on ideology as I am, and you'll pick me not on ideology, but on general competency, because if everyone's kind of a RINO in one or more important ways, you might as well pick the guy who's polling the best."

Maybe. But there's a real shamelessness here that gets off-putting. It's just not very honest for Romney to be so hard-charging as a Tough on Immigrants Sheriff Joe type.

Such a nasty opinion! Well, for reaxders, here's a couple of videos of Newt clearly stating his 21st Century Contract. Now you can claim obliquely that Newt will not stick to his stated contract because he divorced two wives (two of Newt's wives still support his political policies, BTW), but results from the earlier Contract with America are an indication that Newt does stick to his stated agenda.

Newt's new contract:

My, what a well worded mischaracterization.

You complaining... again! Don't remember you being this thin skinned.

Newt was great in the 80's as a Reaganite and in the 90's as the man with "THE PLAN" --- Contract With America. That was then, this is now. Times change. Newt was a great revolutionary and he remains a great rhetorician. He's just worn out his welcome.

...Newt Gingrich Spanks Romney on Twitter...

I could tell by looking at him that Romney probably had a twitter. I wouldn't spank it. Laz would though.

Man oh Man!

What a primary season!

I’m against all amnesty by any name.

Not worried about Newt Gingrich explaining his positions to the populace and voters.

The Marxist will grant full amnesty to every illegal and to every illegal who wants to enter our wide open borders that he will never secure!

Rush also pointed out that Newt,

Rush also had high praise for Michelle Bachman, as did Beck yesterday.

In case you didn't notice Blitzer tried very hard to eliminate Santorum, Bachman, and Cain, while allowing Paul to self destruct and drag the others into his insanity.

Ok, so they are both amnesty-loving swine. So let’s be done with them already. Romney is a flip-flopper, but Newt has ALWAYS been pro-amnesty, and earns a lifetime D rating from NumbersUSA - EVEN BARBARA BOXER EARNS A D+!!!

Hmmm...I thought Newt was focused on Obama, not other (R) candidates...amazing how that changes...

So you're saying that even when he''s attacked and lied about, he should keep quiet?

There's a difference between not attacking someone and defending yourself when attacked. But I doubt you'll understand that, because that doesn't fit your agenda, now does it.

once in Washington...the Czars are wondering now if they’ll be on the unemployment rolls or not..I Love it!

Gone the first day. One of up to 200 EO's he'll have all worked out, printed and ready to sign the first day in office. Many of the damaging actions by "the WON' will be null and void. A good First Day!

And, unlike Bush, he's wise enough to not keep ANY holdovers from the outgoing administration. That mistake cost Bush dearly.

No doubt Newt is eager to ‘take out the trash’ ASAP, the sooner the better. I agree he won’t be keeping any of the hod-overs and he shouldn’t but Some will take longer to pink slip.

Yes, Bush did mess up hanging on to some of those guys...but as with many, they go into Washington with the idea of being fair, forgetting it’s a war zone...sides are taken and the “fog of war’ is thick.
