...desperate, jobless Americans will do most of the jobs illegals do now.
Agreed, IF our government quits handing out freebies.

Now that I am watching the rerun, I think Santorum is doing very well. As is Herman Cain.

The fact that Newt is even temporarily considered is a statement on how pathetic the RINO party has become.

I do not believe that the people of the United States are going to take people whove been here for a quarter of a century
[and] separate them from their families and expel them, I have no trouble with allowing deportees to take family members home with them. Any family members who are lawful US citizens are welcome to return, as when attaining the age of majority...

Hey Newt! Would it be “humane” enough allow the illegal aliens to set up Occupy Mexican Border Camps inside Mexico?
BTW, I’ll bet we could get some of the OWS people to supervise sanitation stations. Better weather now in Mexico than in NYC.

" Why do you want to protect illegal jobs at the expense of jobless Americans, who are looking for ANY JOB to provide for their family. "
Because it benefits the Marxists in their plans and helps the Democrat party to stay in power ? ... another RINO ploy to help the Marxists...

Newt has been making these immigration proposals in other venues and there have been several newspaper articles. I’d been wondering when it would come out in a debate with the much larger audiences and after-coverage.
It’ll be interesting to see how much this knocks him down.

Illegal immigration is a problem, but the bigger immigration problem is one were afraid to talk about - the CULTURAL one. More specifically, do they live American lives? Or do they live as they do back home whilst taking advantage of the American economy, entitlements, and resources? Even if youre legal, if you want to live here, you need to want to be an American. Calvin Coolidge (a favorite of Ronald Reagan and mine) was on target on December 6, 1923 when he addressed Congress with these words -- as relevant today (if not even more) than it was then:
"American institutions rest solely on good citizenship. They were created by people who had a background of self-government. New arrivals should be limited to our capacity to absorb them into the ranks of good citizenship. America must be kept American. For this purpose it is necessary to continue a policy of restricted immigration. It would be well to make such immigration of a selective nature with some inspection at the source, and based either on a prior census or upon the record of naturalization. Either method would insure the admission of those with the largest capacity and best intention of becoming citizens. Those who do not want to be partakers of the American spirit ought not to settle in America.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, mere documentation alone doesn't imply assimilation.

“Perry has done all he can as Governor to secure the border at a cost of $400 million from Texas taxpayers. He has admitted the heartless comment was stupid and has gone around the country with I’m sorrys for everyone. Secure the border, punish the employers and this problem will take care of it’s self. Enforce the damn laws we have and put boots on the borders!”
The $400M was over a decade, and it involved relocating a couple of hundred Texas Rangers. The REAL STUFF did not happen in Texas, as all us Texans know that cannot even go into a Home Depot and read the labels anymore (ok, I exaggerate a bit, but not much).
The REAL STUFF includes laws to prevent SANCTUARY CITIES, E-VERIFY, verifying legality for state services, etc. Perry has NOT done jack in those areas, which is why we have never had a problem with the federal government, like Alabama and Arizona have (i.e., states that are trying to do something to protect their people).

" Great point. How sad that so many freepers promote the strawman that You cant round them all up...ITS IMPOSSIBLE! as if that was the only option. "
Because that is the talking point and their reason of logic of the left ? i.e. bleeding heart liberals...

If we can’t deport them, then box them in sanctuary states, by passing tough proof of citizenship laws that force their migration to sanctuary states, like California, that are already overrun.
Let the sanctuary states, provide them work, food and medical care,
so the Pro-American states can ensure jobs go to legal Americans.

“Oh, ok it is only partial, nothing to see here move along.”
...you mean like 3/5s of a citizen. Let’s see how long a judge permits that stunt.
In other words, once you open the door to legalizing tens of millions of ILLEGALS, the our judges will finish the job by granting them AMNESTY and the right to vote (Democratic, of course).

The question will be how to prevent or deal with future illegals. Another amnesty?
That's the bigger problem. Neither party dealt with that problem after the Reagan years. Not really Reagan but Congress.

" I am befuddled now...Newt shoots self in foot. '
Yes, in the national stoplight during a GOP debate without the help of edited tape, the Newtons can't claim it's a smear job if we show them Newt's own words..
And just think ? Newt was thought of being such a great debater...
To: magritte
I should think that would be voluntary...
To the illegal, “Go!”
To the citizen/dependent, “you may stay, or go; if you go, you may return.”
