It is time for Real Americans to Occupy Black Friday

The Occupy mob has shown its true face with its call to “Occupy Black Friday” and boycott retailers.

The consequences of a boycott like that, if it were effective, would not hurt the rich. It would hurt the employees of the stores. Of course, the Occupy mob does not care about them. Their goal is very simple. They want to crash the economy. The more people they can force out of work, they believe the greater will be the demand for revolution.

We have to answer them.

Our answer is simple.

We will Occupy Black Friday for America and Real Americans.

Black Friday has its name because that is the date, traditionally, that most retail stores go from a net loss for the year to a net profit. Those profits go to pay the wages and salaries of our neighbors and friends. We must stand with them.

This Friday, go out for Black Friday and do some of your Christmas shopping. For many, the idea of shopping on Black Friday violates your 8th Amendment rights against cruel and unusual punishments.

I am with you on that.

I hate crowds.

But this Friday I am going to go out and support some of my local merchants. I am going to out and specifically try to shop as some of the chains the Occupy mob has targeted.

We need to fight back against the Occupy mob and make their “Occupy Black Friday” a complete failure.

Remember the motive of the mob. They do not want to protest the “rich.” They want to destroy the free market economy and replace it with a socialist model. All socialism has ever created is misery and poverty, while the free market has created the greatest amount of wealth for the greatest number of people in history.

The Occupy mob is not made of Real Americans. These are people who hate America and hate everything America stands for. They want to bring America down. We in the Tea Party movement love America and want to see America and our fellow Americans lifted up and made great.

We cannot stand by and let this attack on the American system go unanswered. On Friday, no matter how much you hate crowds, make it a point to go out and buy at least some of your Christmas presents.

Help save the jobs of your neighbors. These are the jobs that the Occupy mob wants to kill.

Ah, thanks for explaining - all is understood now...heh.

It was fun trying to figure out some of that though...ha. You are a darling for explaining, thank you.

I do hope that your and yours have a grand Thanksgiving and a great year to come.

Very nice talking to you and sorry for the misunderstanding on my part...

Oh my, I absolutely had to explain, I didn’t realize no one was getting the fun I was trying to have.

I am looking forward to my “present” as I can’t stand the .25 we have. So much to the point I can’t even remember the last time I fired a handgun. I do need some serious range time though, my 13 yo daughter is better with the .22 than I am.

I enjoyed our chat, even though we kept confusing each other.

I also do hope you and yours have a grand Thanksgiving and a great coming year as well.

"My husband and I drove a day and a half last year so that our (then) 12 year old daughter could meet her grandfather for the first time."

The old gentleman had to wait 12 years to see his granddaughter? That's terrible! He missed almost her entire childhood. It's just lucky he lived long enough to see her at all.

I’m not sure whether I agree or disagree with you, however there was a set of very complicated family dynamics involved. It took a year of telephone conversations to break down many barriers and that trip knocked down the last of them. And the Good Lord played a huge part in all of that.

Based upon my own personal situation, I still think your premise about Jesus taking a back seat to everything else about the holidays, and travel in particular, is wrong.

BTW, we will be leaving in the morning on a 2 1/2 hour trip to spend Thanksgiving weekend with my husband’s sister and one of her daughters and also celebrating my SIL’s birthday. Oh, but we will be back in plenty of time for Sunday Morning service, because our lay roles in our Parish mean a great deal to all 3 of us.

Sorry if I was hurtful, but the fact is that the holidays have become commercialized and sordid and I didn’t think anyone could debate that, even if it’s not true for them personally.

“Come Thanksgiving, don’t you look forward to a football game on TV or some nice music on the radio? OOPS, ran out of milk or butter. Someone is working at those TV and radio stations and convenience stores you just take for granted. I do agree with the over commercialization and rushing of “Christmas” but what makes the store clerk any more worthy of the holiday off than any other employee of businesses you just take for granted.”

You’re assuming a bit much; couldn’t be bothered to watch football, and use Thanksgiving morning to get in a good hike (since my body’s still on “work schedule” - I’ll be up early anyway). On my way home from work today I’ve already bought everything I’ll need until Friday afternoon (I don’t want to be looking for an open store) - if I forgot anything I’ll drive five minutes to a deli where the owner is open until noon (and he’s working it himself). Tomorrow when I get back I may watch TV, but nothing “live” that requires anyone to be anywhere; in the afternoon I’ll be with family into the night, and TV isn’t in the equation.

I see your points, and am sure they apply to some people more than others, but it still doesn’t address the fact that this is going to be happening on Christmas Day in a year or two.

I agreed totally with you about commercialization, where I disagreed with you was with you categorizing people who travel on the holidays to be lemmings who don’t think home is good enough.

The fact is most people do not live in walking distance of family and travel to be with them is necessary. Sorry, but I don’t see that as commercialization, I believe that family is what these holidays are about. So sorry you disagree.

You obviously don’t see my point. My point is that everyone is up in arms about these poor abused store clerks have to work on the holiday, yet ignore the people who have always had to work on these holidays, but their jobs are just taken for granted by the same folks who are doing all the whining.

It would be great if everyone could get the various day off, but the fact is it can’t happen.

When you give thanks with family and friends tomorrow just remember the guys and gals at the power plant making sure your power remains on.

We’ll include the pwoer plant people with cops & firemen.

If you support this nonsense for Christmas, just say so. Also, give thanks that you’re not one of the people normally working 9-5 that has to show up at midnight on Thursday for this.

I worked my fair share of Christmas days and nights over the years, just like Thanksgivings and no one but my family and friends even noticed, yet people like you took what I did for granted.

I don’t have to like it or support, but none of this was my decision. And while I am thankful for not having to be someone working tomorrow or Friday, none of them will be doing it for me because I despise the entire concept of Black Friday and always have. About the only spending I will be doing on Friday will be covering the tab after spending some time with friends I haven’t seen in a couple of years. I’m sure the wait staff will be happy we will be there, as opposed to some superstore.

Have a lovely Thanksgiving.

You don't get it. You can travel to see your family any day of the year. When the ENTIRE NATION jumps up and goes driving on THE SAME DAY, that is the behavior of lemmings.

It's OK, though. I hope you have an enjoyable holiday.

Black Friday isn’t actually that big a day for retailers. It’s usually #5 on the list of big shopping days, and since it’s so door buster oriented the profit margin is the lowest of the big shopping days.

I don’t do it because I refuse to work harder spending my money than I did to make it. We’re going to a museum.

Actually it’s only ever happened once. And that was purely management’s fault, they knew the store was in a bad neighborhood prone to issues, and did nothing to manage the line.

What a sexist statement.

Women who have their full functioning mental capacity can look at the paycheck and the bank statement, notice a lack of funds for unnecessary purchases and withhold spending money for the sake of their security and that of their family.

Oh, I get it all right, but you are entitled to your opinion.

BTW, there roads were practically empty this morning.

I hope you had a lovely day.
