Hosted by the Heritage Foundation and the American Enterprise Institute, the theme of tonight's Republican presidential debate is foreign policy and national security.
The debate is being held at Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C.
CNN is carrying the debate live at 8 p.m. EST.
Participating candidates are: businessman Herman Cain, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, Texas Gov. Rick Perry, former Speaker Newt Gingrich, Reps. Ron Paul (TX) and Michele Bachmann (MN), former Gov. Jon Huntsman, and former Sen. Rick Santorum.
It is an accurate summary.
From Herman Cain’s own hand in your post:
“...then propose a reasonable program for the 12 million (and counting) illegal persons who broke our laws to get here, but not amnesty”
Unless that reasonable plan is deportation, it’s amnesty, right?
Gringrich soiled himself with the amnesty issue, that is going to leave a DEEP mark with the GOP base so close to the elections. The anti illegal alien lobby groups in DC and Iowa ought to get to work with robo calls on that alone starting from Monday. P.S. CNN had a huge hard on tonight to give Herman as little air time tonight as possible. The weakness of general applause to me showed that this was a real Establishment
DC beltway crowd, very uncomfortable with Cain. Now C N N is trying to sound bite it and make Cain look like and idiot and otherwise Kremlin-style airbrush him out. Glad Cain brought up the deaths of tens of thousands at the hands of ILLEGAL ALIENS. Run this clip in Iowa 24/7 Mr. Cain!!!!
make it impossible for them or their kids to ... go to a school, go to a hospital, buy a car, buy a house, rent an appartment, ect...
and they will deport themselves, problem solved.
Had Wolf a brain in his head he would of high lighted the strongest candidates on this stage as it was International in scope. We no longer present our strengths to the world....and that's beyond shameful.
Since “legitimate worker program” means “amnesty” to the hard cases, what is the code word for “legitimate worker program”?
You’re welcome, sir.
He is on FNC live right now.
I understand the desire to compromise.
I simply do not share it.
What are you talking about? Cain was right on this point.
So what’s your point, other than that you don’t like the guy?
Maybe you’re the one who is confused about what is happening overseas.
No, it’s not an accurate summary because based on the context he is clearly against amnesty.
Exactly what Cain said the last debate.
Delusion you are. Newt even said whom would be deported if he becomes President. But of course, you must not notice that so your deceit can float freely in that stinky cloud you’re spewing.
Conferring rights and privileges upon illegal aliens has a corrosive effect on the Rule of Law, the very foundation of our Republic. It is also a slap in the face to legal immigrants who have followed the rules and obeyed the laws. There are millions of immigrants waiting their turn overseas to enter the U.S. legally and approximately 40 million immigrants living in the U.S., most of whom followed the law. Recent polling by Rasmussen has shown that the American people are calling for increased enforcement of our immigration laws.
When you reward something, you get more of it. How can you possibly legalize the status of the illegals without inviting more in? Would you allow them to have their families join them?
” - - - this government is going to deport 30 million people - - - “
Well, 10 % 0f 300 million people is 30 million people. Might solve our Obamanation Recession unemployment - - - .
Is anyone here familiar with the new Pakistani Gov?
It was muddled when Musharraf was there.
I has been insane since Bhutto was assassinated.
Now here comes Obama with all his cooperation’s and wins.
Do we know who these people are?
That isn't a reasonable premise.
The best policy would be to:
1. Secure the border
2. Deport all illegal aliens who break a law.
3. Enforce E-verify.
4. Enforce employment laws.
5. Pass a law denying illegal alien access to welfare.
Remove the incentives and the vast majority of illegal aliens will self-deport.
After several years of vigorous enforcement, we can take stock and determine what's next.
That’s not an answer, it’s a dodge.
That’s the Cain talking point against Newt, right? If he’s not deporting all of the illegals, he’s for amnesty!
Here we have Cain saying exactly the same thing as Newt, and you know it.
Fair enough.
I actually have issues with Newt beyond immigration (Freddie Mac) but he more than made up for it with me when he was the only one on stage to express a concern about an EMP terrorist attack.
I think he actually might win this.
So you’re advocating a closed border with only one side closed. How is you do that again? If someone presents themself to this closed border (and I want it shut down tight, too), how do the illegals then get out? With governemtn assistance?
