More garbage from dip*shit Gabriel Sherman...
New Yorks Sherman writing Fox News book
New York magazine contributing editor Gabriel Sherman sold an inside account of the rise of Fox News called The Loudest Voice in the Room at auction to Jonathan Jao at Random House
Earlier that morning, Murdochs son-in-law Matthew Freud, the London PR executive whos married to his daughter Elisabeth, had sent an e-mail to Murdochs BlackBerry (Murdoch only recently began using e-mail himself). Ive given a quote to the New York Times, and youre probably not going to like it, Freud wrote.
The quote lived up to its advance billingand quite a bit more. I am by no means alone within the family or the company in being ashamed and sickened by Roger Ailess horrendous and sustained disregard of the journalistic standards that News Corporation, its founder and every other global media business aspires to, Freud, the great-grandson of Sigmund, had told the paper. Certainly there was personal animus in the remark; in the left-of-center London social circles where Freud and Elisabeth operated, Fox is particularly loathed.
But the quote was also a salvo in a battle that had been raging around Murdoch for years. Is Fox News a disreputable cash cow, its reported $700 million in profit something to be tolerated with a held nose? Or is it central to the News Corp. mission? And questions like these lead directly to others: Who is Rupert Murdoch, really? And what does he want now?

Well, Ailes infuriated a lot more people when he hired Whore-aldo.
This would be no surprise, since the FOX contract was created for the sole purpose of capturing her pending announcement, or non-announcement. I am shocked that it was not spelled out in those terms in the contract and that anything less would be grounds to sue her socks off.
However, with FOX pundits increasingly seen dissing her to some extent, and given that she can be vindictive if you’re not on her side, anyone could bet that she would take her ball elsewhere to another venue when she decided, finally, to end her kinda-sorta- maybe-iffy campaign, as payback. She had looked quite sour at the end but maybe they will pay her Trademark to endorse Romney in the end. Who knows.
She infuriated me too.
She got spooked after that stupid book....her entire demeanor changed
Oh well....it was a perfect planet alignment....best shot she coulda had
And now after a serpentine followup I am left with Snewt over Romney
Woulda never figured that...
I wish her well but her impact has dimmed...unless she changes her mind
Screw Mr. I-Only-Hired-Her-Because-She-Was-Hot. For starters. He’s nowhere near the only one who needs to be.
And spare me the complaining about how she was supposedly out to enrich herself. Because first, I watched the last three years, and as far as I’m concerned there ain’t enough money, fame, or power on Earth to compensate for the grief she and her family got. I personally wouldn’t have put up with it for that long, much less contributed as much time and effort to building the party as she did.
And second, considering how many folks were willing to profit off her one way or another over that time, and how many folks still look at her as an endorsement, a bloc of votes and racks on racks on racks of cash for their (or their candidate’s) benefit, and (maybe) a token cabinet secretary or RNC chair...you know, let whoever’s without sin cast the first stone.
And third, after the clusterscrew the remaining field has made of it since she left, when her departure was supposed to open up the field for better, smarter, more articulate, less damaged candidates...well, again, let whoever’s candidate’s without sin cast the first stone. A little bit less snark and a lot more humility would go a long, long way, guys.
Actually, I can understand Ailes being frustrated. Infuriated....that’s a bit too much.
Palin had, however, been a Fox contributor, and I assume she took their money. I can see how not having the scoop on that announcement would be frustrating.
It’d be like Clark Kent announcing his identity as Superman but not to the Daily Planet.
I was one of the biggest supporters of Fox news for years, I had heated debates with my liberal brother over the “Fair and balanced” Fox News.
I now do not give the channel any time at all, with exceptions of news updates from time to time, or Hannity once in a while, or Gretta once in a while.
It was their treatment of Sarah that finally drove me away. It`s hard to think of a program on Fox that has not disrespected her at some point.
The new Fox Five have disrespected her to no end, even Meagan Kelly got in on the Palin bashing.
Aside from Sarah, they really have given the Tea Party any respect either, no real Tea Party panelists to speak of, probably outside of the odd person on Hannity.
Bret B Special Report has disrespected Sarah numerous times, his panel and that of FNS are just the same old Rep Est Rino`s.
Fox should have given a program to a real Tea Party person, instead of the folks on Five Fox, Fox Five whatever. Some will say Glenn Beck, not quite what I had in mind.
So Fox is really not Fair and balanced aside from their disrespecting Gov Palin, but they lost me with their treatment of Sarah, on top of the fact that I wasted a lot of valuble time watching Special REport night after night.
You wont find me defending Fox any more, they have moved left if anything.
CNN is not fair and balanced either! But atleast they are not claiming to be. Yes they are in the tank for Democrats, goes without saying.
I get most of my news right here at FR and others
Oh, a little bit more.
Rog, unless you put it in the contract, or you had a very explicit verbal understanding that she was going to make any campaign announcement, yea or nay, a Fox News Channel scoop, (I mean, explicit enough that a court would say she owed you that), you paid her for two years as a commentator, not for that. You’re boned.
And also, my understanding is that she was there mainly as a prime-time commentator. Apparently she was doing well there. So I’m not sure I understand your problem. If you wanted her to have ratings impact elsewhere on a regular basis, that strikes me as a problem with how you’re using her on the network, not with her. If not...well, you’ve hired other hosts, who are there to put on shows that will get good ratings in their own right and hold on to whatever viewers she may attract. If they can’t do that, that strikes me as a problem with them, and your hiring skills, not with her.
I’m surprised their UK subsidies didn’t know about it already. There is something about sleaze, and any business that spies on the general public and victims that I find unacceptable. I put most of the MSM in the category of intentional hype and
misinformation intended to move the opinions of masses towards their advertisers and profit centers. They are all professional pied pipers and we’re made to be the lemmings. They’ll do anything for a few more eyeballs. I trust none.
If Palin, as a paid consultant to Fox News, uses that platform to announce a candidacy, does that obligate Fox News to offer the same "equal time" platform to all the other candidates free of charge?

Heh. Good for Sarah!
Let’s see here, my boss pays me a cool million to comment on various shows on his network. He also pays the Raving Rover and Krauthead and O’Reilly Auto Parts to criticize me or belittle me right and left. Uh, I think I will give loyalty to my friends that compliment and support me in the absence of some written requirement that I tell my future to my employer first.
You see, loyalty is a two way street.

This made me laugh. Roger must have spent all night thinking that line up.
This hearsay doesn't strike me as legit; Rove was there long before Palin was hired, and she already well knew his proclivities for Mittens.
If I were Palin, I'd have gone on Fox instead, and used the first four minutes of the five-minute announcement to craft not-entirely-subtle digs at Rove, Ailes and Mittens.
