Newt’s chutzpah knows no bounds, though. Back during the 2008 presidential campaign, he told a Fox News interviewer that then-Senator Obama ought to return contributions he had received from Freddie Mac and its sister racket, Fannie Mae. Just last year Newt brought out a campaign book in which he argued for getting rid of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. Now here he is in Iowa this week defending Freddie Mac. Quote: “Every American should be interested in expanding housing opportunities.”

OK, Newt defenders, defend this Romney-grade flip flopping and situational ethics.

"OK, Newt defenders, defend this Romney-grade flip flopping and situational ethics."

They can't and they won't try. All they will do is flame us that see through the hypocrite.
This is nothing compared to what's coming if the idiot should get the nomination.

“OK, Newt defenders, defend this Romney-grade flip flopping and situational ethics.”

Let me start by saying that you not only changed the quote to suit your purpose, but only an intentional liar and bum would do it this way. You wouldn’t know what ethics were if they bit you on the ass.

YOU wrote that Newt said ““Every American should be interested in expanding housing opportunities.”

That Looks like a complete sentence. First word capitalized, period at the end. It was meant to though, wasn’t it Skippy?

Here’s the quote;
“Well, first of all, if you can do it in a way that is financially sound, every American should be interested in expanding housing opportunities for people whether they’re African American, or Latino or of any background so the idea that you’re thinking about how can we help people learn how to budget, how can we help people learn how to save, how could you help them learn how to maintain a house on a low income would strike me, for more people, would be good things to do, not bad things to do and I’m happy to say I made public speeches to the National Association of Home Builders.”

Why the cheating, lying, low down rotten change in what he said? And what’s wrong with what he REALLY said?

There’s your answer, Skippy. Newt supporter or not, let’s not play with the truth like that, OK?

How many ways and how many times can you mischaracterize the sentence? “Every American should be interested in expanding housing opportunities.” Explain to me how that sentence is so doamning in your eyes, to Newt’s position on the eceonomy, why to reign in Freedie and Fanny, and how your repeated efforts as spittlgeist to try and assassinate Newt via msicharacterization is hleping whom you support for the nomination. BTW, whom was it again that you want to support by assassiantion of Newt’s character?

Isn’t there a difference between a campaign contribution and being paid as a consultant? Why are our tax dollars going through Fannie and Freddie to political campaigns?

We can discuss how the consulting fees were handle, the value of Newts advice vs. the payment, etc. But don’t try to tell me he did the same thing that he criticized Obama for. He didn’t.

P.S. - Thanks to jessduntno for busting you on your lying half-quote. Newt is right, every American should be interested in expanding housing opportunities. Aren’t you interested in that? I think every American should be interested in expanding all economic opportunities.

Newt didn’t say it in context of supporting Fannie and Freddie. Expanding housing opportunities and supporting Fannie and Freddie are not the same. (In the long run, they are probably the opposite.)
