Rasmussens latest poll in Iowa gives Newt Gingrich a big claim to legitimacy in the Republican nomination fight, but it also is pretty good news for Mitt Romney as well. Among likely caucus-goers, Gingrich now leads Romney 32/19, with Herman Cain dropping more than half of his previous support:
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely Iowa Republican caucus-goers shows Gingrich with 32% followed by former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney at 19%. Georgia businessman Herman Cain, who led in Iowa last month, drops to third with 13% of the vote. Texas Congressman Ron Paul draws 10% of the vote in Iowa, while Texas Governor Rick Perry and Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann each grab six percent (6%).
Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum draws support from five percent (5%) of caucus-goers while former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman picks up two percent (2%). Only one percent (1%) would prefer some other candidate and six percent (6%) more are undecided.
This is the first primary survey conducted entirely after last weeks GOP debate on foreign policy. Cain also recently fumbled a response to the administrations actions in Libya.
This comes from a sample of 700 respondents, which is larger than the Bloomberg survey released this week showing a four-way tie in Iowa. This survey took place more recently than the Bloomberg poll as well, incorporating the Saturday debate on foreign policy, in which Cain struggled. As far as the Ron Paul surge Bloomberg noted, it seems to have bypassed Rasmussens sample. In fact, while Paul continues to hold onto about 10% of the caucus goers in Iowa, hes not likely to get much more:

Don’t get use to it. As soon as the media decides he has been in front long enough they will do the same kind of thing they did to Cain and we will all ditch him like rats leaving a sinking ship, just like we did to Cain. Honestly, don’t you feel like you are being led off a cliff by the media version of the pied piper? Resolve yourself that the media is setting it up for Romney, who they know Obama can beat.
Rinse all you want. You have no idea what you post about. You're all over the map. You blow with the wind...LOL, but you're sorely mistaken about Sarah Palin.
How's this guy for one of the Neanderthals?
Why isn’t Cain suing the people who leveled false accusations against him?
“ALL public polls are for profit marketing tools to manipulate. They have no laws to ensure they are not manipulated, no real penalty for lying. Think for yourselves. IGNORE all of them!”
Say what you want but the polls are more often right then they are wrong. In 2008 we didn’t want to believe the polls and wow they were right the republican party took a bath at the polls. Then in 2010 the progressives were trying to convince everyone not to believe the polls, but again they were right and the DEMS took a major hit. IF the primary was tomorrow based on these number Newt would be the winner by a huge margin. Give it a few weeks and the pounding he will receive like Herman and it will be closer.
Let’s not forget that the Media, the repub establishment and even the dems are all working to ensure that Mitt is the “one” for this election. We have to stop and think why Mitt is getting a pass from the media and why the political establishment has a love affair with him.
Oh, thankfully, you were kidding. Sheesh, how could I know. I am still chewing ice after that first one. Bad driver, to torment Rita. :)
And YOUR point is.......? Baiting again, onyx?
It’s really hard for me to support someone else when there isn’t anyone worth supporting. I’ll resign the selection of the GOP candidate to those who know better than I. I’m going to stick with Palin for now. Never say die!
Yes, and He is not going to condemn me for voting for someone better than the “two evils” running.
He’s a fine man which is pretty much a disqualification for the fight he’d get into if he were the nominee. Sec Treas in a Rep admin. Hell yeah.
Oops, forgot to ping you on this one to #86. My bad.
Yeah; I love Sarah but she stepped in it the other night on Greta. Speaking of Jerry Sandusky, the alleged pedophile coach from Penn State, Sarah said: “I think they should hang him from the highest tree and I’ll bring the rope.” Greta said, “You don’t mean that should be done w/o him getting due process do you?” And Sarah just repeated herself..... “hang him from the highest tree and I’ll bring the rope.” Finally Greta got her to say “yes” to the accused getting Due Process. I thought. “Oh s**t Sarah. Making un-professional, dumba** statements like that is what gives the liberal media a hay-day with you and why many good Conservatives reject you as a viable candidate. Just friggin’ stop the “Joe Biden moments”.
He will condemn you for not doing all you can to prevent evil from going forward especially in a nation with the advantages ours has. If your vote can elect legislators who can stop Obozo and you don’t do it you are derelict in your duty just like anyone else who fails to do what’s right in any other matter. There is always the write-in vote and therefore no excuse whatsoever not to. I have never missed an election since I became eligible to vote.
Fingers or toes?
Newt's 32% EQUALS Mutt's 19% PLUS Cain's 13%!!!
Democrats and their propaganda arm (most major media groups currently) have been calling the party and any leading Republican candidates stupid for 157 years. Every time I see a Republican fall for their lies I'm amazed yet again. Democrats lie cheat and steal. They will push the (Republican) candidate they think will provide either an easy victory or the least disruption to their plans. They will be unwavering in their attacks on anyone that will disrupt their plans. Hence the vitriol, lies and smears against Palin and now Cain.
Where are the Democrat attacks on Gingrich? Do you think that is a good question? Every Republican running could beat Obama right now. Who do you think they will throw their support behind? The least likely to beat Obama or the least damaging Republican that could win?
I pray Rick Perry wins. I don’t trust Cain. Not just because of his issues with allegations of misconduct.
Rasmussen is in it for the liberals and the rinos these days. They lost their objective polling long, long ago.
Perry is not “washed up” and out of money. He just know how to spend it more wisely than the other candidates. He will come from behind and soon.
Wow.
