The latest Fox News poll shows Newt Gingrich leading the Republican presidential field, edging Mitt Romney. Gingrich now has the support of 23 percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents, compared with 22 percent for Romney, 15 percent for Herman Cain, 8 percent for Ron Paul, 7 percent for Rick Perry, 6 percent for Michele Bachmann, 3 percent for Jon Huntsman, and 2 percent for Rick Santorum.

Support for Gingrich has almost doubled over the past three weeks. Over that span, Gingrich is up 11 percentage points, Bachmann and Huntsman are up 3 points apiece, Romney is up 2 points, Paul and Santorum are down 1 point apiece, Perry is down 3 points, and Cain is down 9 points. The number of respondents who are either undecided or want someone else has dropped from 17 to 14 percent.

Believe what you must....the illegals story went on for about a week...personally I wasn't put off by it. If anyone has hired some one to mow their lawn they have probably hired an illegal and I know what he meant when he gave that example. Fox news has never claimed to be conservative they claim to be fair and balanced...i think they are!!!

The only other person in the race that I trust is Bachmann and she’s not going anywhere. She would be a fine foreign policy or fiscal specialist. She sits on the permanent select committee on intel now so she’s as current as it gets.

You know I have always said that. If you want to know all sides of an issue, read FR!

Cain should be better informed, since he was a radio guy. Should be up on all the issues. I don’t get it.

Well, she is cute, but didn’t sound very informed. Hate to insult anyone, but I wondered how she would handle state dinners and talking to world leaders.

She needs to get out of the house more, and join her husband on the campaign trail. Being President and first lady is a team effort. They are a package.

I don’t care what he says on Greta. I have watched him, I’ve heard him slam conservatives on Didi Scozzafava, on global warming, and a dozen other things. What he does in his private life DOES count. If you think thge GOP can win without the women’s vote, the evangelicals, and the rural people of this country, then go ahead and nomoninate him, but you will have the lowest GOP turnout in history. It’s that simple.

In your opinion, anyone who doesn’t vote for Romney is a Kool-Aid drinker?

Yeah, this argument worked so well with McCain, didn’t it? He was thrown down our throats and told he was the only one could beat the dems and we had better vote for him.

He was no good. Don’t trust the media to pick the nominee. Newt is no good. Romney is no good.

Bachmann is a much better choice. Ron Paul would get my vote over those two.

Shoot Barney Bush would get my vote over the choices I seem to be getting.

who is your candidate? as for me...whoever wins the GOP nomination will have my vote. 4 more years of Obama? no thank you. The man has brought this nation to its knees. Suing how many states? over illegals and obamacare? refusing to cooperate on Solyndra? fast and furious? blaming everything on Bush? throwing out money to Pigford? handing out thousands in Detroit? gays openly serving in the military? not going to congress before he attacked Libya? bet your bottom dollar...I will be out fighting against this moron in chief..period. Newt is my man...would love to see him get the nomination..it is early and polls will be all over the place. Iowa isn’t until Jan. I have never voted dem in my life...I refuse to sit out this election and I bet alot of evangelicals, women and rural folks will come out in mass.

And what does Ann Coulter say about Romney’s support of homosexual marriage and abortion the majority of his political life and him being the architect of ObamaCare?

Has this “conservative” weighed on these positions yet?
She can rant and rave all day about Newt Gingrich but Gingirch as has never advocated letting two men get “married” or supported a woman’s “right to murder” her own child. Conservatively speaking Newt Gingrich is Ronald Reagan compared to Mitt Romney, who’s politics have always been more in line with Ted Kennedy’s.

This is all just plain stupid and shows the ignorance of 21st Century America

There is ONE reason and ONE reason alone that NEWT has anything of a pulse in this race. And’s that because he can get up in front of a TV camera at a debate, spout off some conservative talking points in an ultra-superior manner, while taking shots at the debate moderators.

All fine and dandy, but what happened to TRUST but VERIFY? The reason NEWT does poorly is because he lacks TRUST. Yet, some FReepers here, perhaps engulfed in the American Idol/Dancing with the Stars genre look at NEWT in the debates and go “Wow, he’ll really clean Obama’s clock! He’s my guy! Whoopee!”

And yet there are endless upon endless numbers of stories that show Newt to say one thing, yet do something entirely different. Even Obama, in 2008, to hold in a sizeable chunk of Reagan Democrats, mixed in some Reagan talk in the debates with McCain muddled with the rest of his socialist talking points. And many of the Reagan Democrats bought it, hook, line, and sinker.

Now we got same thing happening to some Tea Party folks with regards to Newt. Newt says the right things, but in the end, as he as always shown, he always disappoints. Worse, when he disappoints, his response is to insult conservatives by telling them “Look, I’m smarter than you and this problem is more complex than you could possibly imagine, so just let me take care of it my way”.

This is what is coming with a Gingrich administration. Like Romney, Newt would hide behind the wall of RINOs in the Senate (who could make up as much as 20% of the GOP voting body), and would use his experience from the House to bolster the GOP leadership of Boehner and Canor, while quieting down the Tea Party caucus.

In one of his responses on the Super-committees, Newt said it was stupid to choose between cutting off your hand or your arm. Likewise, a choice between Romney and Newt presents a similar quandry. If Romney is the nominee, the GOP would be chopping off it’s own head. If Newt were the nominee, the GOP would only have to cut off it’s ears and pop out it’s eyeballs.

Why settle for RINO Leadership when we can get a real conservative? And one that we can trust. (i.e. Cain, Bachmann)
