The death toll in Saturday's explosion at military base outside of Tehran rose to 36 on Thursday, according to Iranian media figures assembled by Agence France Presse on Thursday. The number is more than twice the revised figure reported by the Revolutionary Guards after the story broke on Saturday.
AFP based its figures on the names of the victims, one of whom was General Hassan Moqaddam of the Guards' missile programme. Iran originally said the blast was an accident, but later jumped on a bandwagon of sources blaming Israel for the explosion.

You’re right about not dumb, even in a psychotic episode. Mullahs will never use nukes on Israel nor attack Israel (using conventional warfare), unless Israel does it first, leaving them no choice. The objective of mullahs is not self-destruction, it is self-preservation - they’re very clear on that.
Aren’t the Iranian religious leaders and president morally committed to bring about the end of the world, so their Mahti (sp) can return?
Several issues w/ Mahdi doctrine.
1) Ahmadinejad belongs to a right-wing faction of Islamic regime. He & his faction (some of them extreme far right) are/were members of the “Hojjatieh” society, which has always had a staunch belief in the return of the 12th imam (Mahdi or Mehdi).
2) Hojjatieh society (extremely messianic in nature) is a relatively small part of the overall Islamic regime in Iran, and the Regime’s top/key players.
3) Hojjatieh was even too extremist for Khomeini (original founder of the Islamic Republic regime), he even banned them.
4) Present supreme leader (Khamenei), not to be mistaken for “Khomeini”, is not a supporter of Hojjatieh & the apocalyptic vision Ahmadinejad subscribes to. At least not in those exact terms.
5) Although most Shi’ites in Iran, even Sunnis believe in the return of an Islamic figure before the end of times (similar to biblical accounts of Armageddon), they believe “the global War” leading to it will be started by the West.
6) After the return of Mahdi, they believe we (the world) will convert to Islam, and will be rid of corruption, decadence, etc.. - so, they think by forcing people to convert to Islam now & the introduction of Islamic gov’ts throughout the region & in fact the world, they’re paving the way for the return of Mahdi.
But, they also believe “the final battle” will be started by the West (or non-believers in Islam). The annihilation of Israel, and generally the West (also known by them as Great Satan (US) & Little Satan (Israel) is in this context.
Gee, it’s just too bad that there aren’t a whole bunch of 0’s and comma’s (,000,000,000) after that 36.
Now I’m really scared. Number 5 can be claimed anytime Isael goes into the Gaza or even back to reset storm and certainly the rennet Iraq and current wars. All they have to do is say we already started it.
I don’t believe the Iranians believe in Mutually Assured Destruction like the Soviets did coming off of the war. I believe that Iran having a nuclear weapon while a religious fanatic is the president is one of the most dangerous situations in the world.
I have a new Mac and I think the text function is operating like text on my phone, putting in the words which are close to what I’m typing.
No, they believe in a "global war" leading to the return of Mahdi. In that "global war", they believe Iran will be directly attacked, then, they'll respond.
I believe that Iran having a nuclear weapon while a religious fanatic is the president is one of the most dangerous situations in the world.
Agreed. Iran shouldn't be allowed to have nukes.
However, the President (Ahmadinejad) is not the person who calls the shots in the Islamic Republic (IR). It is the supreme leader Khamenei who is completely in charge. Also, despite IR being a theocracy, the regime itself has many factions & checks & balances. Ahmadinejad's (Hojjatieh) faction is a very small part of it. Nonetheless, they (incl. the Revolutionary Guards) all share 1 common goal: Self-preservation, which, in turn, means preserving the Islamic Republic.
5 or 6 more hikers along their border and they can claim an invasion. LOL.
Thanx for the info.
lol.. yeah, well, those hikers were kept mostly for ransom which IR finally got.. also to show that IR is the boss & in control.. pathetic really.. you know, they do that all the time to dissidents/protesters in Iran - arrest them, throw them in jail (often kill them, after raping & torturing them), if not, then ask for HUGE sums of money for bail (which most families in Iran have difficulty raising), and which usually is never paid back to the families.. just another source of revenue for the illustrious regime.
There aren’t that many Iranians.
Your post just made my day.
I of course knew that, but still ... Imagine an Iran-Free world.
Imagine a Genocidal-Free world - the stuff that makes your day, one wonders.. apparently, Ahmadinejad shares your imagination.
Can’t agree. But they should be fine once they’re over the trauma of Islam being totally discredited (speedily in our days, Amen). Until then, we all must do whatever we must to defend ourselves from them and their fellow lunatics.
Even if they don’t actually do a nuclear strike on anyone, their having the bomb is one more too many and will destabilize an already unstable region. Since I live here, I have to view that as a bad thing. Since you get your oil from around here, so do you.
