Makes some good points. Doubt many here will find it convincing.

Newt Gingrich and Conservative are two exclusive terms.

Same goes for Romney...

This article is misleading, in the sense that Gingrich can’t say he was young and irresponsible for things he did in the last few year. He said that “”rightwing social engineering,” was the biggest threat to this country less than six months ago. The Gingrich/Chafee ticket is bad for the U.S.

I like Newt... He’d be my second choice.

Im still bitter about the sofa with Pelosi thing. But i will admit, it love to watch him enviscerate Obama in a debate. It’d almost be like infanticide, or clubbing a baby seal.

RE :”I’m supporting Newt Gingrich as the most conservative Republican who is electable and most qualified for the position of President

Yes, and he has all the answers to the Nation's biggest problems and they all are easy too.

On Social Security he said cutting taxes will make it solvent by creating more jobs.

On Medicare he said he will get Visa and Mastercard to run it since they are experts at stuff like that.

Who else could come up with stuff like that? He is SO smart.

Faced with an ultimate choice between Newt and Mitt, we all pick Newt.

The author does a poor job explaining how it comes down to that choice.

Gingrich is among the top five culprits in the squandering of the substance of the conservative movement since Reagan left office. The fact that anyone who calls themselves conservative takes him seriously is a travesty.

To my dismay I have learned that ALL of our Legislators are corrupt. We will again be choosing, what we regard as, the lesser of the evils. Newt is a bastard but he is our bastard. Big corporate speech (money) has corrupted the process. The mere fact that they all become much richer while serving proves this.

Sheer waste of time. Newt is so yesterday and has more baggage that an airline would allow for its undercarriage.

While I would love it to be Cain/Gingrich, I could fully support a Gingrich/Cain ticket.

Newt Gingrich believes in AGW.
Newt Gingrich is sympathetic to Amnesty.
Newt Gingrich has supported an insurance mandate.
What makes him "conservative" that doesn't conflict with these things?

The Amnesty penchant alone renders everything else he might say out of the right side of his mouth as moot. Once you have 12-40 million new voting Democrat Socialists in the population you also get a one-party Democrat Unitary State very soon regardless how conservative you are.

Okay, I’m not a Gingrich fan but I think many on FR are being a little silly towards him. He is not a RINO, that is just a stupid thing to say.

He has thirty-five years of a political career to look at. He was a very conservative Congressman from Georgia for a very long time. They don’t elect RINOS. He destroyed Jim Wright, RINOS don’t do that. He along with many others orchestrated the first Republican House majority since Eisenhower, and replaced Bob Michael who was a RINO.

He helped along with Phil Gramm and Bob Walker and others to pass the Reagan economic program in the 1980s. It was Gingrich that began to use Congressional television to nightly present the Conservative message to the country. He was very much responsible for balanced budgets, welfare reform, tax reform etc. while in the House.

Does he have baggage? Sure, but doesn’t Cain and Perry?

This is going to come down to a choice between Gingrich and Romney and to say they are both RINOs is idiotic for one thing and sitting out the election because of that belief dooms our nation to huge deficits, double digit unemployment and weak foreign policy. A high price to pay for the search for the perfect Conservative candidate, a bar that not even Ronald Reagan could have met.

It is time to direct our fire on the real enemy of the country Barry Hussein Obama.

The question I ask is do we bet our chips on Gingrich when we know Obama has a $Billion ready for the air wars that will be the dirtiest campaign ever fought against a Republican candidate? Does Gingrich even have a team in place?

Neat is a stinking liberal, beltway RINO. If people can’t see that then they deserve Bambi for 4 more years

I think I will emulate Newt. If he will share some of the big bucks he got lobbying for Fannie and Freddie with me, then I will support him. We don’t need no stinkin’ principles.
