Rick Perry: Actually Obama, Americans Aren't Lazy

Katie Pavlich

November 16, 2011

...President Obama believes Americans have "been a little lazy" when it comes to growing the economy, creating jobs and being innovative. Now, GOP presidential candidate Rick Perry, who grew up ranching and farming, is out with a new ad refuting Obama's "blame Americans first" philosophy, saying his remarks are "pathetic."

Ahh but that's where the power of the bully pulpit. People like Palin and DeMint come in because every two years there is a new election.

If the President announces a 50% pay cut for himself until the budget is balanced, that will put plenty of pressure on Congress. Then during elections a major campaign point for every new Congressman would be a 50% pledge until the budget is balanced.

Geeze that might force a vote on a balanced budget amendment just so they can keep their pay.

On Perry's site he has graphs for the American median income (49000) vs. Congress (175000)

Points well taken. If Perry does indeed win the election I hope he has the stones to do it, it would be a great start.

This President’s actual paycheck is small peanuts compared to what we pay for his staff, Michelle’s expenses and all their trips all over the world. I would be happy to see all of these expenses passed to him as taxable income for 2009-2011 and then cut by about 7% beginning 1/1/2012.

What would happen if romney wins and picks Cain for VP. Then Sarah enters as a Tea Party candidate with DeMint?

I agree. I was listening to Perry on Medved the other day and Medved brought the staff issue up and compared staff and how it's grown over the decades.

You make a good proposal.

I think this is where we the people need to take this. If it were our own budget we would start with the small stuff, eating out for lunch, cutting down nights out and so on.

The big stuff will come but start small and get a frugal culture going again in DC.

It certainly won't happen if We The People don't make it happen. I'm not giving in to the notion that it's futile to put forth the effort. I have faith in the American spirit.

Reagan did not give in to the Evil Empire. I will not give in to the forces that try to beat me down. If we want freedom then we must fight!

Freakin politicians are all alike...say whatever sounds good even when you can’t deliver.

So then if that's the case it doesn;t matter if a candidate is pro-life? Pro 2nd amendment? Pro tax cuts? A President can't outlaw abortion or cut taxes so what does it matter what what he believes? He can't create jobs or win wars or banish poverty either, in case you're wondering.

What would happen if

A. romney wins and picks Cain for VP.

B. Then Sarah enters as a Tea Party candidate with DeMint?

A has been the plan all along and B ain't never gonna happen.

Don't get me wrong, I'm up for the fight.

I guess I should have prefaced it by qualifying my statement as "this" Congress.

No that's not what I'm saying at all. What my point was is that he doesn't have the power or authority to do it. If he has a plan to accomplish it then more power to him otherwise it is just political posturing.

We'll see, believe me, I'd love for him to succeed if he should win.

Well...he's offering to serve at half salary. That will give him leverage with the voters come the 2014 mid terms!

For my money Perry's got some of the best ideas of the bunch.

I have a question though, does the POTUS have the authority or power to cut Congress's pay?

No, but he has the power to veto bills and shut things down until somebody blinks. Whether that happens is a whole different ballgame.

Best political ad of the season, so far.

Too little, too late?

Lets hope not.

It's excellent. Supposedly only 25% of Republican primary voters are locked in to a specific candidate. That gives Perry a lot of room to grow. :)
