obama had none of the bases covered.
all candidates have their pluses and minuses.
you elect them believing that they have the ability to cover their minuses.
what experience has romney in foreign affairs?

Technically, while Cain is probably right, the press is going to have a field day with it.

I would rather have a President who admits he does not have all the answers then one of the arrogant GOP Obama clones who thinks he does.
Our last 4 Presidents thought they were foreign policy geniuses. How has that worked out for us?

Is this a "prequel?".it sounds like the day on the bus was BEFORE the meeting with the editorial baord, yet they released these quotes after..
It sounds like Cain is telling them that he doesn't know the details of Libyan policy, which all but meant that they were going to ask him about it later in the meeting..

While running for President, Bill Clinton basically said the same thing.

"He defended his view that presidents and presidential candidates don't need to be immersed in the fine print of world affairs - they simply need to be leaders who can surround themselves with the right people and sift through their advice. "I'm not supposed to know anything... "While it is definitely more important to have your loyalties in the right place (unlike the present "occupier" of the White House), one should have some basic understanding of foreign policy in order to properly lead the country.

And the fact is, like it or not, I don’t care how focused a President is on domestic issues, most likely, his Presidency will be defined by Foreign Policy.....see George W Bush.

I love it
Every other candidate seems to think they are capable of kowing everything about everything- but when you listen to their answers it is nothing more than polished political-speak
I love that he says “I dont kow the answer to everythig- so I know enough to hire advisors who do”
I do the same in business- I am a computer system engineer-but I know surprisingly little about the physical aspects of networking, so I have people under me who implement what I tell them to- I dont know or care to know all the details about how they run the wires into the building from the street- I know I have competant people in charge of that.
I dont have the time to know every single detail about a small percentage of the system. I have many many other things to worry about to make sure they are working too.

I’m willing to give Cain a pass on this. At least he doesn’t think there are 57+ states, and he knows what religion he follows.
To: Sub-Driver
We have had a President who knew ‘everything about everything’ and ran the WH with him having to know every minute detail and make every decision:
His name was Jimmy Carter
We also had a president who admitted he was not well-versed in minutiae and considered himself the idea man and his advisers the experts:
His name was RONALD REAGAN.
I thought I would just throw that out there.

We can trust Politico to not creatively edit Cain’s quotes. Yuh. Right.

Uh-uh! I want to see the entire context of his statement before I go ballistic. I get tired of these 1 or 2 sentence quotations taken out of context with the intent of inferring something that isn't so.
Given his display so far of a limited knowledge of and understanding of foreign policy, this may reflect what occurred accurately, but I'm gonna reserve judgment until I see the whole thing.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, whose editorial board interview with Herman Cain produced one of the most memorable videos of 2012, spent a day on his campaign bus with some nice highlights. OK, I'm confused.

Technically he is correct.
The higher up the food chain of leadership you go, the less important it is to have the technical mastery of a subject and the more important it is to have the ability to appoint good people with that technical mastery.
But you should have some understanding of the subject so you can find those good people.
