I lost “friends” over political ideology as well - mainly over the queer issue. Some people I knew had no problem with the homo agenda being taught in the public schools (where their kids went) versus having kids in parochial school (like mine). The one that comes to mind was a conversation over dinner at the other folks house, and they asked why I was spending the money for parochial school, so I flat out told them “Because I don’t want my kids to ever think that queers’ behavior is normal.”
Well...let me tell you, that was throwing a turd in the punchbowl, to be sure...
Another factor was the issue of firearms. I taught my kids at an early age (5 and 6) how to shoot, how to safely handle firearms, etc.
I don’t speak with those folks anymore, nor do I socialize with them.
And my in-laws are idiot dems as well, which, as I’m sure you know, can and does cause problems with the spouse...
