What's the over/under that the media will not continue ignoring this?
To: Paladins Prayer
I think we underestimate how many people who are basically OK with raping children even if not into it themselves.
I know that's horrible, but that's what it's looking like to me.

They’ll start ignoring it when Sandusky threatens to start naming names. Look for a very light sentencing. Unfortunatly.

FR is rife with pederasts or at least their cheerleaders and enablers. Imagine how much worse it is at DU or in public schools.

If you stop in on any of the naughty teacher threads, you will see how many freepers applaud adults using kids as sexual playthings.

I was under the impression that the Liberal Mantra is “ITS FOR THE CHILDREN”, seems to me football got in the way.

And 1995 was just the first time it made it into paperwork. The charity was founded in 1977. How long thereafter did he begin preying on the charity cases, and what was he up to before then?

As far as I can see this is another trial and conviction by media. Only some charges have been made, there has been no trial nor conviction. And yet punishments have already been dealt out even to some who have not been charged. We should not declare guilt before a trial is completed because it makes us appear to be like those black hats up in Salem in the 1600s.

Yes and no to the trial by media. I agree that the wheels of justice must turn. But this particular case is not in a stage of “oh, somebody made an unsubstantiated accusation”. For close to 2 years, this has been investigated by a grand jury. There has been a lot of testimony UNDER OATH, which resulted in the two perjury charges for the AD and the financial guy. There has not been a trial in front of Sandusky’s peers (ick, just ick) but there has been a pretty substantial investigation and presentation of evidence in a judicial setting.
I don’t feel like it is a knee-jerk reaction on my part to have the guy pretty much “guilty” in my mind.

In the late 80’s early 90’s, a scandal came to light in a “boys ranch” near Olympia Washington. The “ranch” was run by the states DSHS, and counselors were trading sex with boys amongst themselves and with outsiders. The head of DSHS, Jean Soliz, was not even asked to step down by the governor, and the state investigated to find a black hole, where evidence and money was poured. If this were a private institution, people would have been jailed, but it was public, so the particulars were retired, and promoted.
