Nebraska 17, Penn State 14; Crowd Chants "We love JoePa."
The New York Times ^ | November 12th, 2011

A last-ditch drive ends in disappointment for Penn State, which loses to Nebraska, 17-14. Not having any timeouts crippled the offense, which completed two passes short of a first down, including one with seconds left, but couldn't stop the clock.

This is a different Saturday in State College. Immediately after McGloin's final pass fell incomplete, the Penn State crowd cheered the team's effort: the cheering grew to a roar as the two teams again met a midfield, such as they did right before the game.

Again, as occurred several times during the game, there were chants of "We love JoePa." Interviewed after the game, interim coach Tom Bradley said that what Penn State has gone through over the last week is "unprecedented in the history of college sports."

You can be the greatest man that ever lived for every day for 50 years, but if you cover for a child rapist ONCE, you are still a pedophile protector. It negates all the good you’ve ever done. And you always had the next day, the next week, the next year o come clean and make things right. And you didn’t.

“The FAGGOT LOVIN’ Penn State “President” CAME from NEBRASKA!”

Spanier was born in South Africs, that is where he actually CAME from. The homo boy raper Jerry Sandusky was born and raised in Pennsylvania. What is the point?

Very well stated and I agree with the additional parties that need to go down with this ship. In addition to the victims, my heart also goes out to the Alumns (such as yourself) who now unjustly are bearing shame for the actions of those creeps and cowards that compromised the reputation of PSU with these horrible acts and inactions.

Wonder what would have happened to Sandusky if he had been working for Bear Bryant or Darrel Royal, or Frank Broyles, or Tom Osborne, or Frank Howard, or Bobby Dodd, or Murray Warmath, or Bo Schembechler, or Woody Hayes, or Ara Paraseghian, or Bobby Bowden and a GA came to them with “vague references” of Sandusky “touching, fondling or horsing around” naked in their athletic department showers with a minor?

Nice to know the fans of the Nittany Lions worship a man who has admitted to protecting a kiddie rapist.

I was at the game, but I don't recall that ever happening.

I did hear a few "Joe-Pa-Ter-No" chants, though.

Just saw your tag-line. Out of curiosity, which student athlete should have stayed off the field for something none of them had anything to do with? This was Senior day. Should the players be ashamed of playing football?

I’ve never met anyone who worships JoPa. Just holds him up as a legend or symbol of PSU.

Arm-in-Arm coming onto the field, the teams greeting each other solemnly at midfield, then kneeling in prayer together

Wonderful display of sportsmanship and brotherhood God bless them.

Correct. This whole Penn State thing has brought out the most uninformed and idiotic posts I have ever seen on this site.

Maybe they meant penn as in the State Pen which is just down the road from PSU.

BTW, the University of Pennsylvania is a private school for those not in the know.

...He [Graham Spanier] said he’s often asked what the biggest problem is in higher education.

“My inquisitors expect me to speak about budgets, information technology, federal research policy or public opinion,” he said. “My answer may surprise you.

“The most fundamental problem facing colleges and universities throughout America today is the challenge of developing character, conscience, citizenship, tolerance and social responsibility in a society that sometimes gives the impression that such virtues are optional.”

No.

After the investigation and all the criminal trials are over there will be civil suits by however many victims of this mess can be identified.

Sell as much of.the campus as needed to try and make them whole.

[If these had been girls no one ever would have allowed this creature to be so close with them for so long.]

This is the point everyone is missing. If that had been a little girl that McQueary had caught Sandusky raping, would he have walked away? Would we have even FReepers defending McQueary with “he may have thought it was consentual”? I seriously doubt it. Would the media being omitting details about what was really going on? What McQueary and others had witnessed?

Tom Selleck on an episode of Blue Bloods said it best, " We judge ourselelves by our good intentions. Others judge us by our last bad act."
