--In the Republican race for the presidential nomination, Newt Gingrichs support continues to slowly grow, and he is now tied with Mitt Romney for second place, while Herman Cain just edges both of them out for the top spot. Both Cain and Romney have lost support since late October.
--But the race could still change; seven in 10 Republican primary voters say it is still too early to say for sure which candidate they will support.
--Cain has lost support among women since late October. Then, he led among women, garnering 28% of their support. Now, his support among women is just 15%. He has also lost ground with conservatives, from 30% to 23% now. And there has been some movement among Tea Party supporters as well; their support for Cain has declined from 32% to 19%. Romney has lost support among men, while Gingrichs support among that group has increased 8 points
I like Newt. If Cain happens not to get it,...I would ten times rather he get it than Romney. What say you?
I’m sticking with Herman.
That’s all.
Newt is sleazy as heck, but Romney is sleazy as hell, so I’d like him above Romney.
Its cBS, nuff said.
Newt, without a doubt. Romney is a liberal and not a toe-to-toe fighter with Obama as Newt is. We already know how Newt would govern — he has made that clear. We can only guess at how Mitt would do, and I don’t like his record. (Romneycare, which he continues to defend).
Romney at 15% Nationally..
That is all. Carry on, folks.
I believe it. I’m trending towards Newt, and I see a lot of others here in the same boat.
In your dreams CBS!!!!!
Cain - Gingrich or Gingrich - Cain .....both have a lovely ring!
No thanks, have no desire for the GOP to run McCain 2.0 in 2012.
The way for Newt to be my strong #2 is for him to start hitting Romney harder starting this Sat night.
Sorry have no desire to repeat 2008 in 2012 with McCain 2.0
Let’s see.....we ran smears on Cain for two weeks and our polling shows he is losing support.
Typical media patting themselves on the back.
More than anything it appears that no one is really satisfied with the field
This poll was conducted by telephone from November 6-10, 2011 among 1,182 adults nationwide. 1,029 interviews were conducted with registered voters and 382 with voters who said they plan to vote in a Republican primary. Phone numbers were dialed from samples of both standard land-line and cell phones.
Then there are people like me, who have been looking at the field and waiting to make a decision. If the top three are Romney, Cain, and Newt, then it's a pretty easy call for Newt.
I think we are seeing the Tea Party Conservatives migrate to Cain and the East Cost Conservatives migrate to Gingrich. That leaves the 10% liberals with Mitt and the 10% Birchers with Paul. I am guessing the others will continue to fade out. But things can always change.
I agree that the trend is probably accurate. I would find it hard to believe that a candidate can take a drubbing such as Cain has taken for the last two weeks and not see numbers fall. What suprises me most, however, is that his numbers haven’t fallen more than they seem to have fallen. It’s shocking, really.
I predict that there will be attacks launched on other candidates as well. Their numbers will also suffer. Who knows where this will all end up?
The polls are all manufactured! They are manufactured today were they have Cain falling, yet they were also manufactured when they had Cain at the top.
This is not just Cain I am talking about but everybody. When Bachmann was at the top it was manufactured, same deal for Trump and Perry, and when they all crashed it was also manufactured.
The truth is most Conservatives as well as Americans as a whole are all lead around by the nose by the pollsters.
The pollsters get a kick out of this, they can manufacture opinion from the dumb masses (including many/most Conservatives sadly) .
Does not matter if it is Fox, Ras or the NY Times, CBS, whatever, they are all the same and they are playing most of us for fools.
Make no mistake, MSM/REP est pollsters will pick our candidate.
So many otherwise sensible conservatives follow these polls at RCP looking for trends??? Just blows my mind
This poll is CBS..one guy says it`s only CBS, but there is another one already out in the last few hours that now has Newt leading, yes it`s posted at RCP (I follow for laughs, should really be crying)
In a few short days weeks they will all say the same, so people will say...hmm I guess if that`s what everybody is saying, must be true LOL being played for fools again!
I have no candidate, they would have done the same to Sarah (who is my candidate if she was only running)
I have held this view for years on pollsters, it`s just so funny to hear people take each and every poll as Gospel, to take ANY poll as anything other than manufactured opinion.
There is no hope until people wake up, I do not see it happening...as we speak people are looking for trends in phony polls. The biggest joke has got to be averaging phony polls...I shake my head
Mitt probably has more money in the bank than the rest of the candidates combined. All he has to do is survive Iowa and win New Hampshire and he coasts to the nomination.
