In a move that immediately had the Twitter-sphere reeling in apparent disbelief, Herman Cain on Wednesday coined a new nickname for House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi: "Princess Nancy."
Cain, speaking at CNBC's Republican presidential debate in Michigan, was referencing a Republican health reform plan that stalled in committee because "Princess Nancy sent it" there.
"The legislation has already been written," Cain said when asked to present an alternative to the Obama health reform bill. "H.R. 3000. In the previous Congress it was H.R. 3400. And what that does -- it has already been written."
But, he said, "We didn't hear about it in the previous Congress because 'Princess Nancy' sent to it committee and it stayed there. It never came out."
Commenters on Twitter immediately jumped on Cain's use of the term "Princess" - particularly in light of the recent sexual harassment allegations with which the candidate has been charged.

Some might try to use this to say: “See, he sexually harasses women. But, everyone watching that Debate knew better. So, that will help people realize that anything he “allegedly” did in the 90s, that is now called sexual harassment, is unfounded; it’s just his personality. This will help him; IMO.
There is no logical connection between sexual harrassment and calling her “Princess”. Except that the media is insane.
A decade ago I saw Pelosi straddling Vladimir Ilyich Lenin’s corpse in red square.
He was being nice. He could have used her real title of “Princess Crackhead who constantly shows all the classic symptoms of being under the influence of cocaine such as non stop jaw and mouth movement when she is not speaking, bugged out and over blinking eyes and non stop jittery like movements with the arms and hands.”
I like and respect Newt a great deal, but the enduring infectiousness of Cain - no candidate since Reagan has had this quality. This man can heal America.
Princess is about right! Princesses sit around and wait for the Queens and Kings to do all the work...then try and take credit for being a part of it all.... ;)
I have no problem with this.
Clearly, Pelosi acts as though she thinks she part of a monarchy. Since she’s only a second-tier royal, “Princess” will have to do.
According to the Washington Post, Cain said on CNBC later that he regretted the phrase.
“That was a statement that I probably shouldn’t have made, but I was trying to make a point,”he said.
Already .... that is a damn shame.
Cain fans will laugh it off but this will not play well with women amidst these allegations, particularly when framed by Democrat ads.
Once again, Cain shot from the lip and now made it absolutely plausible he'd make an inappropriate comment to or about a professional woman that may offend and lead to a sexual harassment claim.
Herman Cain and Mark Block deserve each other.
I didn’t know calling a female “princess” equates to sexually harassing them. I bet there are a lot of fathers who sexually harass their daughters then!
Pffffft - it is an accurate characterization and says nothing about his respect for women; though it does say much about his (justifiable) lack of respect for her.
The only folks who will squawk will be the committed anti-Cains and the entirely ignorant imbeciles.
You know, for everyone whose nose is out of joint over Cain pulling back from this comment after the fact; it strikes me that this might be a case where, as a Christian, he just felt like he’d crossed a line and gotten more personal than he should have. Sure, there are other comments he’s made and backed away from that I wish he’d stuck to his guns on, but as much as I think he was making a valid point with this one, I can also see where he might feel that he needed to “repent” a bit for it.
I just call it (pelousey) princess puke. I am ashamed it is from my state.
Don’t be so sensitive... I’m a woman AND guess what my first name is....
Calling her princess nancy is so out of character for Mr Cain. Considering his accuser has called him a monster... as a monster he should have referred to her as witch nancy.
