PERRY DEBATE DISASTER: This Is The Moment That Officially Killed His Campaign — For Good (PAINFUL!)
Business Insider ^ | 11/09/2011 | Zeke Miller

At today's CNBC debate Texas Gov. Rick Perry was asked a question about his tax and spending plan — but completely blew an otherwise strong answer by looking like a complete fool.

Perry was listing the three Cabinet agencies he wants to abolish — and forgot the third one.

From the transcript:

Perry: And I will tell you, it is three agencies of government when i get there that are gone. Commerce, Education, and the — what's the third one there? Let's see...Okay. Commerce, Education, and the —"

Ron Paul: EPA?

Perry: EPA, there you go.

Moderator: Seriously -- is epa one you are talking about?

Perry: No, sir, no, sir. we are talking about the -- agencies of government -- EPA needs to be rebuilt. >>

Moderator: you can't -- you can't name the third one?

Perry: The third agency of government I would -- I would do away with Education, the -- >> Commerce...Commerce and, let's see. I can't. The third one, I can't. Sorry. Oops.

About 15 minutes later, Perry said "It was the Department of Energy that I was reaching for before."

Is Rick Perry having a senile moment here?.... That was one of the most awkward moments I've ever seen in a debate.

Perry really can't think on his feet.

Unfortunately, the President NEEDS to be a great COMMUNICATOR.

It's clear that Perry ain't the one.

Obama’s presidency has lowered the bar. Kerry’s 57 states didn’t bump him out either.

Unfortunately, the media will keep giving him do overs, cause they want to keep the circus going for as log as they can... and if the clowns go home, they got nothing.

I thought it was handled well, actually.

It was funny.

Obama has made far worse gaffes.

Perry was talking about the three departments he would eliminate and when he got to the third one, well, he just ran out of...energy.

Ironically, it was the Dept. of Energy he was trying to remember.

I agree. This whole GOP nomination process has been a circus.

One, PT Barnum would be envious of.

My prediction: You will hear less about Herman Cain in the next week.
And A LOT more about Perry.
The Liberal media smells FRESH blood in Perry. He has just bumped Cain out of the top spot of “Take Out A GOP Candidate” list.
I’m sure Cain is thanking the good lord.

Perry is one of the few (if any) candidates who is confident enough to be able to laugh at himself. That’s laudable and human. A lapse in an otherwise very good debate performance. He can’t be counted out.

The sad part; this stuff has zero to do with how someone can govern.

We are electing slick debaters. Almost like auditions to be actors.

Well, his wife encouraged him to run, saying she and others were seeing the “burning bush,” nobody seemed to realize it was actually a premonition of his campaign going down in flames.

A lapse in an otherwise very good debate performance.

I agree. He recovered well and if you take that moment out - he did really good, it was his best so far.

On the scales, Perry sucks at debating, but he has a record any of those other candidates on stage with him are probably envious of. You can't be 100% perfect, and I'll take a doer over a slick talker any day.

Are you posting this on every thread? This was a guy who listened to Cain’s voice and says that he is innocent.

I watched it and am not a Perry fan, but I though it was funny. I am still on the Cain train, but some laughs are good...we have all had brain farts, even R. Paul got a laugh....

Na... that’s conventional thinking... here’s what I’ll betcha on... they know Perry is out, sure they’ll keep him around for a few laughs, but Cain is still the Big Dog, and they gunna keep nipping at his heels and throwing dirt in the air to try to take him down. Remember when Perry first got in, and he was riding high? The media had begun trying to slime him but they didn’t have to work too hard cause Perry knocked himself out with his own left hook, which also knocked him so fuzzy, he couldn’t remember what the hell he’s doing up on stage... na, they’ll poke a Perry a little, but they’re going to keep after Cain.

Um, no. It is software that is 95% accurate, and is used in police work. I wouldn’t post the link so much, but it was yanked from Front Page News/Breaking News.

ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) -

Private investigator TJ Ward said presidential hopeful Herman Cain was not lying at a news conference on Tuesday in Phoenix.

Cain denied making any sexual actions towards Sharon Bialek and vowed to take a polygraph test if necessary to prove his innocence.

Cain has not taken a polygraph but Ward said he does have software that does something better.

Ward said the $15,000 software can detect lies in people’s voices.

CBS Atlanta’s Mike Paluska played Cain’s speech for Ward into the software and watched as it analyzed Cain’s every word.

If he is hiding something this thing would have spiked way down here,” said Ward. “He is being truthful, totally truthful. He is a man with integrity and he talked directly about not knowing any incident he is accused of.”

The software analyzes the stress level and other factors in your voice. During the speech, when Cain denied the claims, the lie detector read “low risk.” According to Ward, that means Cain is telling the truth.

During the section of Bialek’s news conference where she says, “He suddenly reached over put his hand on my leg under my skirt and reached for my genitals he also grabbed my head brought it towards his crotch.”

During the analysis of that section the software said “high risk statement.” Ward said that means she is not telling the truth about what happened.

“I don’t think she is fabricating her meetings,” said Ward. But, she is fabricating what transpired.”

Ward said nearly 70 law enforcement agencies nationwide use the voice software, including the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

Ward said the technology is a scientific measure that law enforcement use as a tool to tell when someone is lying and that it has a 95 percent success rate.

After listening to Cain’s speech and analyzing it, Ward said there is no doubt, Cain is innocent.

“When he directly talks about the allegations against him there is no high risk,” said Ward. “It is low risk, which tells me he is being truthful in his conversations to the public.”

Perry is a good communicator in interviews and speeches, not just this type of sound bite format.
