Fifth woman raises questions about Cain's behavior
Washington Examiner ^ | 11/7/2011 | Susan Ferrechio

Posted on 11/07/2011 10:10:55 PM PST by Qbert

A former employee of the United States Agency for International Development says Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain asked her to help arrange a dinner date for him with a female audience member following a speech he delivered nine years ago.

Donna Donella, 40, of Arlington, said the USAID paid Cain to deliver a speech to businessmen and women in Egypt in 2002, during which an Egyptian businesswoman in her 30s asked Cain a question.

"And after the seminar was over," Donella told The Washington Examiner, "Cain came over to me and a colleague and said, 'Could you put me in touch with that lovely young lady who asked the question, so I can give her a more thorough answer over dinner?'"

Donella, who no longer works for USAID, said they were suspicious of Cain's motives and declined to set up the date. Cain responded, "Then you and I can have dinner." That's when two female colleagues intervened and suggested they all go to dinner together, Donella said.

Cain exhibited no inappropriate sexual behavior during the dinner, though he did order two $400 bottles of wine and stuck the women with the bill, she said.

The next time the women heard from Cain was Christmas, when he sent them his gospel CD.

Donella said she felt it was important to describe her encounter with Cain after hearing more serious allegations of sexual harassment brought by other women.

"I couldn't swear that he had some untoward intentions, but we all thought his tone was suspect and we didn't feel comfortable putting him in touch with that woman," Donella recalled.

"I think [Cain] should not be a serious candidate for the presidential nomination because of what I've seen," said Donella, an independent who said she voted for President Obama in 2008 and probably will again next year. "He's not a person I would want running the country."

Cain's campaign did not immediately respond to inquiries from The Examiner.

It’s going to be like this until Nov 2012. Country club republicans might as well give up now. This is a fight to the death with an enemy that won’t give up until they’re nuked.

Cain has his problems, and so it’s difficult to see how he can be the next leader of the GOP. But the GOP needs to stop pretending that this is just another goofy presidential campaign where the next-in-line inevitably gets the nomination and wins if the economy hurts his opponent. It’s an election year, and the press is going to do all it can to set the agenda to the advantage of the Democrats, period. We have to start playing by the press and Democrat’s rules. If we don’t take them out, they will take us out. It’s gotten past the point of winning the argument, because to the extent that there is a difference between Democrats and Republicans, the Democrats have lost. That’s why they’re resorting to this, and they won’t stop until they’re hoisted on their own petard.

—You’re right on. I don’t agree with some of his views (and the Dems he supported, obviously)... but I wouldn’t mind Trump stirring things up again (from the outside).

Actually I recall now the glance I was referring to was actually a situation where something was in his eye, but still worth reporting....

Donna Donella has made a truly asinine statement in the rush to destroy Herman Cain. If you have ever seen real sexual harassment, this kind of blather would make you laugh—except for what it does to its victims.

Ms. Donella is probably one of those women who burst into tears over the concept of “bullying.” Well, what would you call this? There's almost no way to prove that you didn't do something, especially if that something was said to have occurred a decade or so ago. I can't remember what I had for lunch Sunday or what I wore Monday. How the Hell can a man be expected to produce an alibi or witnesses to a nonevent in Egypt many years ago?

Ok, I have a friend, who is my cousin’s wife’s, friends daughter who waved at Herman Cain across the room and the lecher waved back!!!
This whole thing smells of desperate dems to me! Teh political environment from pundits to office seekers on both sides of the isle, is scared to death of this man who is changing the face of politics dramatically. Ignoring him didn’t help so they will try to destroy him and insist it was becaue he didn’t understand how the game is played.
Their desperation is showing thru.

Can someone please tell me who are the other three women besides Sharon? What are their allegations and were there any charges? I honestly don’t know who they are? I love Cain. I want to know what to say when talking to those who don’t believe Cain. Any help is greatly appreciated.

“You missed the funny part, Cain stuck the women with the bill for the wine.”

I stuck bad dates with the bill in my lifetime, if I run for office, will they pull that “skeleton” out of my closet, and attempt to call it sexual harassment?

" The Establishment plan is to bring out a new woman everyday until something sticks.
Total B.S. and every object person knows it."

This reminds me so much of what the Democrats were trying to pull off during the recount in Florida in the 2000 election with the Chads.

How is this one an attack from the right? A earlier post says this woman works as an activist to support Obama.

Only if he files a libel/slander suit. Don’t think he can now that he has made himself a public figure.

They could counter such material is free speech.
