The only person who will tear up Obama in a Debate is Newt. I like Cain, but he speaks in platitudes.

I agree that Newt would absolutely demolish Obama in a debate, but I also believe that Obama doesn't have what it takes to hold his own against Cain.

Cain might not humiliate Obama into the floor boards like Newt would, but I certainly believe that he'd take him out using the standard conservative arsenal. He's plenty well-equipped to do that, in my opinion.

What's most important here, is that we're choosing a leader for the next four years. That leader is going to have to pick up the shattered pieces of the damage Obama and his ilk have wrought. I personally would rather see someone who has some track record in actually doing that sort of thing at the helm. Cain has that sort of experience. Newt does not.

In addition, the Republican who can vanquish Obama is going to have to be able to inspire the people to follow him. Herman Cain does that without effort, because it comes naturally to him. He's got the "It" factor, that is absolutely essential to gather our forces together for a push over the top to victory.

Newt may be brilliant, but he doesn't inspire the way a natural leader like Cain does, ergo; he will not be able to galvanize enough of us to defeat Obama. I really fear a repeat of the McCain nightmare, if Gingrich gets the nomination.

You just said you didn’t even watch the debate, that you were distracted during most of it.

On all the threads that the Perry supporters spam, the common denominator is that they don’t care that his single digit polling may well indicate that over 90% of the American public rejects him and his ideas.

Since they are both male and female, I don’t think the usual ‘schoolgirl crush’ answer covers it (though that’s likely part of it). I think it’s more a case that when you look at their actual defense of perry and the reasons/avoidance of hard questions they display, it comes down to one inescapable conclusion.

They do not want a conservative. They want all the bennies with none of the hard work required. If anyone takes the time to study their posts in a big picture way (IE not just individual posts but take the overall themed and direction/rationalle), that’s what you’ll find.

And that ain’t conservative.

If you are a Gingrich supporter, you are the next target, since he’s coming up in the polls and looks like a threat now. SO I figure a few of the same Cain supporters will start calling you names and saying you’re a RINO and attacking you when you make comments.

You did know that Cain had Rich Lowrie out explaining his 9-9-9 plan that Cain is using.

Gingrich is probably the only candidate we have who actually might be writing his own plans. Although they would certainly build on other’s ideas as well.

And:

Q101. “Exactly where in the Constitution does it say that the President and Vice President cannot be from the same state? In the 12th amendment the wording leads me to think that the electors and the candidates cannot be from the same state.”

A. The Constitution doesn’t say that they cannot be from the same state. However, the 12th Amendment does say that electors may not vote for a President from their state and a Vice President also from their state. This issue came up in the 2000 presidential campaign when Texas Governor George W. Bush chose fellow Texas resident Richard Cheney to be his running mate. Cheney, who had served in Congress as a Representative from Wyoming, quickly changed his legal residence back to Wyoming to avoid the possible conflict for electors from Texas. Court challenges to Cheney’s change of residency were denied.

It is unlikely that two people from the same state would ever be nominated by a major political party. It is constitutionally possible however. If it ever came to pass, the party that won the ticket’s state would likely suggest to the electors that their votes for the President go to the presidential nominee and that the votes for the Vice President be given in honor of a party official. Electors in all other states, as mentioned above, would be free to vote for both of the party’s nominees.

You have a very non-responsive style to your rants. The point was about how the meeting with the republicans went, not how the vote on Obamacare went.

You should try harder to keep up.

This is why this candidate cannot drop out fast enough. He is probably looking for an exit strategy, particularly after tonight’s debate, which will boost Cain and Gingrich considerably. (It will take a while for it to show up in the polls, as more people watch the rerun of the debate.)

In the meantime, after this thread, I’ve just decided to ignore each and every one of the posts flacking for this candidate.

Maybe if no one posts to them, ever, they will quiet down.

In any event, this candidate will be out of the race soon.

Right now I am sure there are serious discussions among the big donors about how to respond to this debate and how it reshuffled the top tier.

Gingrich is beginning to look like competition, after they thought he was already sufficiently “Rino’d”. So expect more of it in the coming days.

Here we go. Once again a candidate thread sidetracked and destroyed by rabid Perry supporters.

Yep. I suppose that I'm as guilty as anyone for adding fuel to that sidetracking. It's tough to remain mute, though, when I see this sort of stuff going on. Don't know if you saw it, but I protested about some Perrywinkle interjecting him into the thread, early on.

For what it's worth, I think they're simply desperate. Their guy has shot himself in the foot so many times now, that he's pretty much permanently crippled himself in this race. On top of that, some of their staunchest compatriots on the site have embraced the lightning of late, and only the most devoted Perrywinkles are doggedly persevering on.

Unfortunately, they choose the darnedest places to do it - like threads that have nothing whatsoever to do with their candidate. You've got to wonder about the mental state of someone who sees their candidate bungle the show from day one of entering the race, then drop from 30%, down to 8%, and yet responds by becoming even MORE dedicated and combative, where their broken candidate is concerned.

In my view, the healthy ones looked at the man's performance in the debates, and his actual record, then moved on. That said, there are a select few who (I believe) really think the man's been under-rated and unfairly maligned. Fair enough, but the fact of his rapid descent in the polls ought to tell them that he's finished.

It's a crazy time, my brother, and it's probably going to get even crazier before this is all over. In the end, I hope that we don't rip each other to shreds over all this. It's precisely what our enemies want.
