I've reposted the article, as Newt is rising in the polls. I didn't know that Gingrich's first divorce was misrepresented in the media.

Although Newt has many warts, at least this rumor about him divorcing his dying wife needs to be adequately debunked.

Unrebutted, these stories stick, and I am sorry to say that I have repeated them.

This is an exceptional rebuttal for several reasons.

#1.
The daughter is a witness, and has no antipathy known to either party.

#2 The mother is still alive, so she wasn’t on her deathbed.

This is the first account I have ever read that Newt's wife is alive and well. I have always held the belief that the wife's hospital bed/cancer/divorce papers/death would be the political death of Newt if he ever ran for office again.........

Well this all new information! And where has Newt been for the past twenty years in explaining this to the American Public???

Yet, Herman Cain has been under relentless attack for his lack of answering questions about “supposed” “trangressions” and the lack of his campaign’s ability to diffuse the attacks, and he’s not ready for prime time because he didn’t get “in front” of the attack.

My opinion of Newt has changed from a scumball who left his dying wife, to a dummy who didn’t come out with the truth, as his daugher portrays it, about his previous divorce twenty years ago.

I have always bought into the story that he walked in, told her he wanted a divorce and left. This only to have her die, alone, a horrible, painful death a few short days later. That was the story as presented by the MSM IIRC and not one that I recall, said otherwise.

He still has too many other 'issues' for me, but the truth is extremely important in making the right choice of a candidate. Especially now.

So this was his first wife, Jackie, not his second. Good to keep the facts straight. She didn't have cancer, she initiated the divorce not him, they had already begun the process when the hospital visit occurred. He didn't "serve her divorce papers while she was dying."

A lot of freepers owe Gingrich an apology for perpetuating these lies, and should eat some crow to go with the media spew they sucked down along the way.
