There is no fine.

You just can’t stop lying can you?

Well, at least it’s fun watching your dirt-bag candidate that you lie for crash and burn.

After all you put into him, all the lies, all the effort, all the money.

All that and your moron of a candidate can’t break 8%.

I sure am enjoying it!

Perry proposes the same plan.

And he's right. I support him on that one.

But I can't brook being called "heartless" -- straight out of the liberal playbook.

Most Illegals entered legally but have over stayed their VISA

That doesn't sound credible to me, and I doubt there are any studies to back that up. From what I've observed (having lived in the southwest US my whole life), most illegals from south of the border came here illegally to begin with.

Keep in mind it's about a definition. People walk across the border daily saying they are only here to shop and never leave. They come in on Airplanes saying they are coming to visit family or going to Disney World and then just disappear. The question is were they inspected? Way more than half were and then just slipped away.

From a House hearing in 2006 where the estimates were at that time the numbers were 30-40% pre-9/11. After 9/11 USCIS slowed everything down and the numbers sky rocketed just because they have gone into a serious backlog so people whose VISAs would have probably been extended anyway are expiring and there is nothing they nor the Government can do about it right now.

http://commdocs.house.gov/committees/intlrel/hfa27480.000/hfa27480_0f.htm

This is from 2010

http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/2010/05/10/20100510illegal-immigrants-overstay.html#ixzz0ndkoS9w

Nobody knows the actual numbers, the best anyone can do is guess.

The bottom line is there is no one even looking for them. ICE is seriously undermanned so all they do is look for the criminals that they have deportation orders for and every once in a while Obama will put on a show and send them out to some shoe factory and round up a bunch of them to make the news. Local LEO's are barred from enforcing immigration and even if they weren't they have no way of knowing if someone is here illegally unless they tell them. All they can do is put them on an ID hold and wait for them to tell the truth.

I get them for way less, than that and I have patrolled the border as a free citizen.

But Perry is right, this is a Fed issue not a states issue let alone an issue that Texas citizens need to handle for the country.

Jim Gilchrist got shut down for the same philosophy.

What amazes me is folks in Peoria criticizing Perry and Texans on this issue.

We do plenty.

So Texans should buy bullets and whack illegals so they can be prosecuted by the fed?

That was a major screw up.

Fundamentally, it's the source of all his problems.

When challenged, Perry could've explained that in-state tuition had been overwhelmingly approved by the legislature and, thus, represented the will of the Texas people.

He could've said that the federal government's failure to do its duty left the state with a problem -- several million illegal alien residents -- that, as governor, he had to deal with. And that if three years of residence and graduation from a Texas high school was the prerequisite for in-state tuition, it should be applied equally.

He could've said these things -- and conservatives would have understood his reasoning. Well, most of us, anyway.

Instead, the governor -- whom I've voted for three times (plus primaries) -- chose to attack us as somehow "heartless". He could've recognized the opposing argument as principled and treated it with respect. He didn't; he demeaned those who disagreed with him. He lashed out like a liberal -- with an ad hominem attack.

In doing so, he revealed a window to his soul. I've often described the governor as a "conservative politician, not a conservative". Maybe just "politician" would be sufficient...

At least he didn't pander -- as he has to La Raza. I'll never vote for the man again.

From the article: “He also said the program would only work if the federal government first does a better job securing America’s borders.”

Obama says he will bring home about 43,000 troops from Iraq and Afghanistan in December.

Should he just add them to the unemployment rolls? Or put half of them to work hunting down the OWS crowd, and the other half on our southern border?

Right. That’s why the well-paying construction industry is filled with illegals. During Hurricane Katrina cleanup, American crews went down to work, and were turned away so that illegals could work. With so little construction being done now, Americans have all but been driven out completely.

What would Cain — what did Cain - do about the $150 million worth of tomatoes and cucumbers that rotted in the fields in Georgia this summer?

No, lets go back to the point that Sarah Palin and Governor Perry have touched on - What would Cain do about the 12- 30 million illegal aliens already here?

(I’d send them home to start the process for the work visa, btw.)

Hire teens. Other workers. If they couldn’t find any, put the prisoners to work.

The main reason is that we don’t live in a police state and are only asked for our papers when the policeman has probable cause or reasonable suspicion (or whatever the lawyer’s jargon is) that a(nother) crime has been or was being committed.

Nevertheless, Texas passed our no-drivers’ license for illegals this year - since the legislature only meets every 2 years for 4 months, it takes a while to get a law through - another reason Texas is great.

How would you get rid of them? How would your boss get rid of them?

The original story contained no details about the work visa program, other than it would only come after fully securing the border.

However, don’t visas have to be obtained in the home country? Are there any that can be obtained in the visited country?
