Frankly, from the reports, I’m not sure what happened. First it said killed, then it said seriously injured, then it said a broken leg (which is serious, but usually not life-threatening) and then it said there were two people and then...well, who knows.
But I’d say the scenario is that these people were in the midst of the crowd, which was no doubt pounding on their car and had them trapped, and then pulled forward to escape without knowing that somebody was lying on the ground in front of them. Be that as it may, this will as you suggest just be propaganda for them, and that’s probably why the reports are so confused.
I remember years ago in New York when some “progressive” minister went and lay down on a construction site where the leftists were protesting the demolition or construction (I don’t recall which) of a building and a bulldozer backed over him. The driver had no idea he was there, was horrified when he found out what had happened, and the leftists had a field day.
