Israeli Prime Minister Said to Favor Iran Attack
ABC News ^ | 15 minutes ago | Amy Teibel and Ian Deitch

An Israeli official said Wednesday that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is trying to persuade his Cabinet to authorize a military strike against Iran's suspected nuclear weapons program — a discussion that comes as Israel successfully tests a missile believed capable of carrying a nuclear warhead to Iran.

The developments unfolded as the International Atomic Energy Agency is due to focus on the Iranian program at a meeting later this month. The West wants to set a deadline for Iran to start cooperating with an agency probe of suspicions that Tehran is secretly experimenting with components of a weapons program.

The government official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was discussing sensitive internal deliberations, told The Associated Press that the option is now being debated at the highest levels.

The official confirmed a report Wednesday in the Haaretz daily that Netanyahu and Defense Minister Ehud Barak both favor an attack, but do not yet have the support of a majority of Cabinet ministers. The official also said Israel's top security chiefs, including the heads of the military and Mossad spy agency, oppose military action.

It is generally understood that such a momentous decision would require a Cabinet decision. Israel's 1981 destruction of Iraq's nuclear reactor was preceded by a Cabinet vote.

Some have speculated that the United States — or even Britain — might be better poised to carry out a strike.

I would bet that the events of the past year have forced Israel to take a lot of programs in development and move them into rapid production...

From what I’ve read, all the targets are highly distributed and far underground. It doesn’t sound like an attack can wipe out their nuclear program. Continued targeted attacks on key people by Mossad would probably be more effective.

I believe we are very close to witnessing a biblical event.

And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

There sure have been a lot of stories today from various sources about a possible attack on Iran, not just including Israel. I know that there have been many over the last several years that have been posted here, but those have been mostly from questionable sources like Debka, and have been more spread out in occurance. It just seems weird that there are so many all of a sudden. I wonder if this is some attempt at disinformation or distraction from something else, or if what needs to be done will finally happen.

Some have speculated that the United States

Count the U.S. Out while O is in power. He has probably ordered our military to report on Israeli activities.

Remember, he is a Muslim and an honorary member of the muslim spring events.

Anyone else find it interesting that ALL these uprisings happened on his watch? He has given, by this countries inaction thru all these events, his agreement to them. Oh, and don't think they are not related.

Interesting that the Libya uprising, and loss of thousands of it's AA missiles happened. Or that muzzis control Egypt and can now put up U.S. supplied fighters and missiles within 50 miles of Israel. At least with Mubarak he did not have an active enemy and in time of war, an ally of Iran so sitting near Israeli bases.

This is much worse than it was prior to the O getting control of U.S. Much worse, and he will NOT assist Israel in any way.

My wonder now is are there enough grownups in our military who will assist Israel in this time of need despite Obama?

Maybe not.
Remember

our President bowing to the Saudi King? Well, there's a new Crown Prince in the Kingdom and Crown Prince Nayef is no fan of Iran.

I agree - quite weird that there are suddenly so many stories. I thought that after 2010 the idea had been dropped.

Today there is this headline:

http://www.dawn.com/2011/11/03/us-no-comment-on-buzz-of-israeli-strike-on-iran.html

US: no comment on ‘buzz’ of Israeli strike on Iran

All a bluff maybe? Hard to say.

Any attack on Iran by any country will create immediate $10 gasoline. Will that benefit the USA, or improve our deficit, or our military readiness? What it will do is put us into a major economic depression.

Time to take care of the USA. The USA military sees it as a bad idea. If Israel attacks Iran it could very easily drag the world into WW3. There is a fair amount of internal unrest in Iran that could overturn their government. An outside attack would do the same there as it would do to the USA and as it did on 9-11 and solidify opposing interests.

We’re broke and our military have faced many multiple deployments, yet McCain and Graham still want the USA to attack everyone. They both need to lead the first wave.

There was also a link on Drudge earlier about how some top Israeli intelligence guys leaked the story of a pending attack as a way to discourage it.
