CBS: Herman Cain waived confidentiality: accuser's lawyer
CBSNews ^ | November 1, 2011 | Jan Crawford

(snip)

But Joel Bennett, the lawyer for one of the accusers, who is a married federal employee who lives in Maryland, told CBS News today that his client is telling the truth.

"I wouldn't characterize it as an ax to grind," Bennett said. "I'm sure she feels as though she wasn't treated properly by Herman Cain."

But Bennett said said he does not remember the specific allegations, or what kind of settlement they eventually reached.

(snip)

"I reference this lady's height," Cain said. "And I was standing near her and I did this, saying 'you're the same height as my wife.'"

Bennett said Cain was talking about the case of another woman, not his client. But Bennett said now that Cain is talking about specifics, the confidentiality agreements may no longer be binding.

"I think the National Restaurant Associaion ought to waive the confidentiality and non-disparagement provisions and let the two women, if they choose to do so, come forward and tell their stories so that it can get a complete public airing," Bennett said.

I guess the real question for Mr Joel Bennett and politico is, do they beleive that Larry Sinclair was not treated properly by Obama with just as much fervor as they believe these anonymous women believe they were unfairly treated by Herman Cain?

He’s an idiot to talk about a client of which he can’t recall specifics, if that’s the case ...

My guess is he’s shopping a Anita Hillesque payday, and once again MSM is complicit.

Isn't that what we said about Obama when he released his COLB, and then his long-form birth certificate?

Didn't we say that Obama waived his privacy claim that Hawaii was hiding behind once he made the documents available?

So how does Cain waive his confidentiality in this matter, but Obama did NOT waive his confidentiality when he released his birth documents?

Leftists aren’t the only ones afraid of Herman Cain.

As he hinted in both interviews on Fox tonight (Baier and O’Reilly), there are those on the right who feel threatened by him, too.

Not naming names, but there are other GOP candidates with ample resources and staff to do a hatchet job.

Does she want to open up that can of worms if we find out she does this with many, if not most of her employers?

Do you really think the MSM will be checking to see if they have a history of claiming sexual harrassment?

Uh oh! One of them is named Anita Hill.

Actually, I think they would like nothing more than to drive conservatives to fully support Cain, while undercutting any chance he has for drawing the general election voters he needs to be Obama.

I hope that isn’t happening. What we should watch for is not whether his poll numbers for the primary go down, but if Obama strengthens against him in those polls.

I don’t think this story was ever going to hurt Cain among conservatives, so long as there was nothing to it. Among his biggest supporters, even his amateurish handling is seen as endearing, not disqualifying.

The question is what the average general election voter thinks.

Any embellishment by the woman in question and demands for the NRA to release the official docs would be in order.

This is so niggardly ... pun intended.

This woman took offense at something a person with common sense would ignore ... proof that she was a liberal looking for a lawsuit and nothing more.

I don’t apologize for disliking people like her ... anyone with common sense would not even remember the conversation ... it was NOTHING and she turned it into a money maker.

People like this woman disgust me and make it hard for me to show respect to complainers like her.

Bennett said said he does not remember the specific allegations, or what kind of settlement they eventually reached.

But Cain is supposed to remember every detail off the top of his head. Got it.

And Cain is breaking confidentiality, not whomever leaked the story in the first place. Got it.

And the accuser is telling the truth, but Cain is not. Got it.

Anything else we should know?

Been there, done that.

Try being a younger male, 35-45, in a senior management position in a business that is about 80% female. The stuff that the women said and did to each other was simply atrocious. But even worse, the number of times I was hit on by peers, subordinates, and even employees two or three steps lower on the org chart would stun the average person—as it did my wife!

When I was 25 and not making six figures, I couldn’t get one of these women to look at me. at 40, I could have been getting more ass than a bus station bathroom.

BUT, if I ever took a step the slightest bit out of line, I would hear about it from HR. It was one of the reasons I ended up quitting and starting my own business. The political correctness was stifling, one sided, and Supported only women.

I believe Cain did nothing a jury would ever convict him of— but every pansy HR director I ever knew would run to the lawyers to keep it quiet for the good of the company.

Oh boy. Don't like the sound of this "other woman." Hope this thing blows over.

Which is exactly what the people who brought the claim forward WANTED you to think. According to Herman Cain, he didn't even KNOW about this woman. And if you read what HER attorney says, her complaint is that he didn't treat her very well. Now, you may ask, what exactly does that MEAN? It could mean anything, and will automatically be spun to the WORST conclusions by Democrats, and Cain's Republican opponents.

What makes CBS believe that Cain was part of any confidentiality agreement? Looks like National Restaurant Association was the other party (no suit filed).

They will come out and try and refute everything Cain has said.

There was a record of the settlement and maybe depositions.

Yep, at one point I managed a small group of engineers. My boss also managed a group which consisted of 15 women and 1 old guy. He hired mostly based on looks so only about 1/3 of the women could do the job.

Then he quit and they made me the ‘acting’ manager over both groups. My official title was Test & Acceptance Supervisor (aka T&A).

The group with all the women was dysfunctional and couldn’t do their job. So upper mgmt wanted remedial training and lots of pressure to pick up the pace. Naturally the ignorant but pretty ones didn’t like that.

One asked me if she needed a boob job, and then reported me to HR. When that didn’t work a pair of them waltzed down to the Presidents office and reported I was telling people they were having orgies in their home.

After a few months of hearing about their DDs, getting flashed (aka Basic Instinct) and so on I decided to go elsewhere.
