In an email to POLITICO this afternoon, Robinson admitted that the site routinely blocks Romney supporters from posting -- and offered no apologies for the practice:
Free Republic is a pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-small government, pro-constitution, pro-liberty site. Governor Romney is none of the above. His record is that of an abortionist, gay rights pushing, gun grabbing, global warming advocating, big government, mandate loving, constitution trampling, flip-flopping liberal progressive with no core values. That and the fact that he is the chief architect and advocate for ObamaCare disqualifies him for any consideration whatsoever on Free Republic as a potential nominee for the presidency. ...
Liberal progressives and other enemies of the constitution and or of Liberty itself are not welcome here. Accounts registered here by liberal progressives and other assorted trolls, malcontents and disruptors will be removed on sight or at the convenience of the site administrators.
The site came under fire from Ross Abraham, a blogger for Mitt Romney Central, who wrote today that Free Republic is just one of several sites (along with RedState, he says) on the right-wing Internet that are pretty much off limits to Mitt Romney's supporters.

If Romney wins the election will we Freepers be allowed to comment on his job performance if he does something worthwhile?
Might take her more seriously if she could spell.....
I think we really hurt that Romneybots feelings by not only ZOTTING him but then publicly humiliating him :D
JR, and mods, keep up the good work!!! And I have no problem going on these left wing hack sites to defend JR's good name and the good name of this website. FUMR, FUKR, FUBO!!!
And that is your typical comment by a libtard. They think they are texting to their drug dealer. And who still thinks the US Education System doesn’t need a complete overhaul???
That last sentence is unfair. He has his preferences, and may disagree with people on those. But he doesn't bar discussion by people with whom he disagrees unless he sees a particular disagreement that runs counter to the purpose of the website. That leaves a whole lot of room for disagreement that isn't banned.
In an election between Romney and Obama, I'll vote for Romney, but I'll respect the rule not to advocate for him here.
Same here. I happen to despise Obama more, so my vote goes against him.
But even ‘used oats’ are very good for fertilizer, whereas Policktico’s effluvia excrement is totally useless......
That'd pass for a term paper on DU.
I feel as you do - and so do a heckofalot of others, from what I have seen - but you do understand that this labels us as "supporters" of Romney, correct?
IMO, therein lies the problem.
IMHO, if some of the people on this site (don’t mean you!) spent more time talking to their Republican friends about why a vote for Romney is a bad idea, and less time describing in loving detail the temper tantrums they will have in the event that Romney is nominated, the better off they, and America, will be.
The difficult point is going to come between the convention and the general election if Romney wins the nomination (and I hope he doesn't). It would seem that most discussions coming down the stretch would run the risk of zotting.
But since we're not at that point now, and I am not supporting Romney in the primary, it's a non-issue for me.
How do you square that with the strongly opposed political views of liberal Mormon Harry Reid, and conservative Mormon Orrin Hatch? Or between (pick label) Mormon Glen Beck and Harry Reid?
I voted for Romney at that time when everyone else but he, McCain, and Huckabee had dropped out.
I don't have any problem with that decision.
You think McC or Huck were more conservative? You're entitled to your opinion on that.
Nana #80: instead of choosing pro-life McCain or pro-life Huckabee
You chose pro-abortion Romney ???
That is definitely NOT a Conservative move...
NS #293: You think McC or Huck were more conservative?
___________________________________________________
If you care to read my #80 again I never said Mccain or Huckabee were more conservative
I indicated that it was not a conservative move on your part to choose the liberal disaster Romney over McCain or Huckabee
Both M and H are pro-life...Romney has not ever been since at least 1970 if not before...
Romney is a life long pro-abortionist...
No Conservative would have chosen him over a pro-lifer...
Though all 3 tend to be RINOs, in at least the protection of the unborn, both McCain and Huckabee have life long pro-life creds...
I write em as I see em...
Why would a pro-life FReeper vote for the abortion pushing Romney ???
How do you square that with the strongly opposed political views of liberal Mormon Harry Reid,
__________________________________________
Reid lives in Mormon Nevada
In 1980 the Mormons would have voted in their block for Carter except Carter messed up in 1978 as far as the Mormons were concerned...
He pressured them intoi changing their racist doctrines against blacks and finally giving (some) civil religious rights to black men only...
The Mormons never forgave him much took revenge out on him...
That year they voted for the hated Ronald Reagan
That must have been a surprize to many mormons when they were told to vote for Reagan
But
Mormons tend to vote in a block... They vote lock step they way they are told to by their Mormon leaders...
I love that quote.
I also like to say that you have the right to speak, but not necessarily the right to be heard.
Deal! LOL
Exactly. I remember watching a TV show(I think it was “Saved By The Bell”) where the whiny college students were fighting for their “right to be heard”. Where exactly do the left wing TV show writers find that in the United States Constitution? There is no “right to an audience”. Stores might as well fight for their “right to customers”.
I’m sure there are plenty of donors to conservative candidates here. But the only way to defeat ROMNEY is if the teaparty army descends on IA and SC, the way they swamped Massachoosie for Scott Brown. Cain needs people power on the phones primarily and car loads of folks heading to those early states. Everything else ... the MITT-org has factored in a way to neutralize us ... they will pound the airwaves and mail delivery with their message. They cannot compete with our people power, but the focus of volunteer activity has to be directed at IA & SC (NH, NV, FLA are tougher targets).
