In an email to POLITICO this afternoon, Robinson admitted that the site routinely blocks Romney supporters from posting -- and offered no apologies for the practice:
Free Republic is a pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-small government, pro-constitution, pro-liberty site. Governor Romney is none of the above. His record is that of an abortionist, gay rights pushing, gun grabbing, global warming advocating, big government, mandate loving, constitution trampling, flip-flopping liberal progressive with no core values. That and the fact that he is the chief architect and advocate for ObamaCare disqualifies him for any consideration whatsoever on Free Republic as a potential nominee for the presidency. ...
Liberal progressives and other enemies of the constitution and or of Liberty itself are not welcome here. Accounts registered here by liberal progressives and other assorted trolls, malcontents and disruptors will be removed on sight or at the convenience of the site administrators.
The site came under fire from Ross Abraham, a blogger for Mitt Romney Central, who wrote today that Free Republic is just one of several sites (along with RedState, he says) on the right-wing Internet that are pretty much off limits to Mitt Romney's supporters.

I suggest you vote third party.
If, God Forbid, that happens, that is exactly what I'll do.
Some people have justified playing into Rove's hands by talking about SCOTUS appointments. But look at the history of Republican-nominated SCOTUS justices and you'll see that appealing to that fear is invalid. A SCOTUS justice nominated by a RINO is no better than one appointed by a DHIM. For example:
All of the above were nominated by Presidents with (R)'s after their names.
A Repuke President doesn't guarantee a conservative SCOTUS appointment.
Myth does not get my vote. Period.
Very welcome!
Now if only I could force those bawling about how Romney isn’t being supported to drink my coffee, I’d be a much happier man.
;-)
I dunno why the boss has to keep repeating himself about this being a CONSERVATIVE site, not an RNC or RINO site.
LOL, thanks!
Amazing and sickening. The *R* behind the name has all too often meant RINO!
Too many corrupt, Beltway, crony, fossils; -— all of whom, must be ousted and replaced by patriot TEA PARTY CITIZENS, and I don’t give a rip whether those patriots have any government experience!
Belief in our Creator, dedication to our Constitution and Honesty are the number one qualifications.
Everything else will fall into place, IMHO.
I’d run for office myself if I could.
But I have a bit of an attitude towards reporter types.
Free Republic is an Equal Opportunity Libtard exclusion zone. We don’t like any constitution hating, Pro-Abortion baby killers, Fag love embracing, evil fascist, gun-grabbing, eat-the-rich, christian hating evil doers. Romney just happens to be one of them.
They must be talking about campaign plants, because there are too Romney supporters here.
No matter who the Republican nominee is, it’s Obama who needs to be beat. Romney might be Obama lite, but he’s still a move to the right of Obama.
Exactly correct. I have evidence...
Exhibit A: McCain before the Summer of 2008 = Media Darling, Reach-Across-The-Aisle lovely and Sunday Morning Show Favorite “Maverick”.
Exhibit B: McCain during general election, 2008: Arch Conservative, Old man, Sexual Liasion with Lobbyist, Bush II, War Mongering Racist Bungler Who Doesn’t Even Know How to Use Email.
And no one in Mitt’s camp thinks this will happen to their guy?
“admitted”, LOL. yeah, he really had to squeeeeeze that out of him. “Affirmed” might have been a better word. It certainly is no secret.
One of the reasons I read and post-on FR is just that. It seems pretty balanced and appears to keep out the Trolls. Having Politico complain about FR policies is only further verification that this is one of the “right” places to be. If I want to go into the LIB/RINO getter, there are many places to so slumming (e.g., DU, Politico and so forth).

Like most of us, I’ve held my nose and voted for moderate Republicans before. I could probably vote for Newt in 2012 even though he’s completely off-base on issues like ethanol.
But Mitt Romney is no moderate: he’s a socialist who signed government-mandated health care into law and defends it to this day. How can any conservative claim common ground with a man who has taken every position we oppose and lies through his teeth about each one?
The letter in front of a politician’s name means nothing. The fact that Romney enjoys what support he does is reflective of the party-line culture that has been cultivated by the likes of Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, who routinely tell us that they will support any Republican who happens to get nominated.
If you can talk yourself into supporting a socialist just because he has an R in front of his name, you’re better off posting on DU.
Conservative? I'd say more "common sense" than conservative. Outside of this forum, it gets crazy...
Both parties seemed to be pushing the "if we take in $1 we should spend $4 just to be fair" mentality.
And far too many people are ok with this, I mean, have they actually seen this mythical "obamastash"? Right next to the skittle crapping unicorn, I suppose.
Harsh times call for harsh measures. We speak to a singular truth that conservatism works every time it is tried. Spending less than you take in is not a political position, it's a survival technique. That's too much truth for too many people.
Thanks for helping to keep what remains of patriots sane, JimRob...
Thank you Mr. Robinson.

No, it doesn’t look ugly enough.
So, you want to send the message to the GOP establishment that Romney is just fine, so they should just keep disrupting other candidates on behalf of a liberal rino?
Seems like a less than thought out position to me. What you're saying to the GOP establishment is that in the long run no matter what they do that you will vote for Romney.
What in that position is going to get them to stop undermining other candidates and never attacking Romney?
Nothing.
If anything has gotten them to think, it's his inability to rise in the polls, and that's because of the millions of Americans who refuse to support the flip-flopping Massachusetts good buddy of John Kerry and (dead) Ted Kennedy.
