Conservative site [Free Republic] on Romney: 'Enemies of the constitution ... are not welcome here'
politico ^ | 103111 | Ben Smith

Posted on 10/31/2011 8:11:08 PM PDT by Fred

In an email to POLITICO this afternoon, Robinson admitted that the site routinely blocks Romney supporters from posting -- and offered no apologies for the practice:

Free Republic is a pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-small government, pro-constitution, pro-liberty site. Governor Romney is none of the above. His record is that of an abortionist, gay rights pushing, gun grabbing, global warming advocating, big government, mandate loving, constitution trampling, flip-flopping liberal progressive with no core values. That and the fact that he is the chief architect and advocate for ObamaCare disqualifies him for any consideration whatsoever on Free Republic as a potential nominee for the presidency. ...

Liberal progressives and other enemies of the constitution and or of Liberty itself are not welcome here. Accounts registered here by liberal progressives and other assorted trolls, malcontents and disruptors will be removed on sight or at the convenience of the site administrators.

The site came under fire from Ross Abraham, a blogger for Mitt Romney Central, who wrote today that Free Republic is just one of several sites (along with RedState, he says) on the right-wing Internet that are pretty much off limits to Mitt Romney's supporters.

“...that conservatives must pull the lever for him, else we are Obama supporters,...”

Be careful of the point where you find you have formed a circular firing squad. I want a President Cain so bad I can taste the black walnut ice cream. If Cain is the nominee, he will walk off with so many votes that Obama won’t know what hit him.

But if through unfortunate circumstances this nomination fails to happen — or if Cain’s comity with Mitt survives the campaign season and all the real and alleged dirty tricks by Mitt and guess what, it is a Cain/Romney ticket — well I would entreat everyone to please think out what you are going to do and why. Why end a splendid campaign effort with a herd of cats knee jerk fest?

I’d even vote for whack job Ron Paul before I’d vote for Myth Romney.

This is saying quite a bit since I run a blog that’s dedicated to defeating the good doctor.

The title you gave did not match the title on the link and therefore it was changed by a moderator. The titles must match for us to look for duplicates.

The moderator did not have to do that, he could have simply pulled the thread.

In the future, put your comments in brackets behind the actual title of the article or video.

Screw Politico and screw Mitt Romney.

My thoughts also...except I was thinking a different verb.

Go away, Romney. And take that sleaze politico with you. For some reason, Norwegian antisemite liberals seem to be taken with Romney. Another reason to bury him.

What follows then at the GOP convention?
______________________________________________

A redo of 1964 when Mitts Dad George Romney only got 40 votes to Goldwaters 800...

Cain will smash Romney at the convention...

remember many delegates are grassroots...

and then probably a redo of what happened next

George stomped out of the convemntion w2ith young impressionable Willie mitty in tow...

George then worked AGAINST the GOP nominee Goldwater andf helped Johnson get elected...

Willie Mitty has already gone way down that road already trying to cut Herman Cains throat...

But unlike 1964 when George was a big man on campus and had power and influence, sonny boy Willie Mitty has burnt a lot of bridges...

When and if Herman Cain gets the nomination I think too many will get behind him for this Romney to do much harm...

Whereas there was no Internet or FaceBook to get out the truth in 1964, today’s Romney cant lie and make it stick without being exposed as a trouble maker and an enemy of the Republican party...

and where Ronald Reagan said later that it was George romney and his moderates who had caused the republicans to lose in 1964...

the more liberal Williard Mitt Romney wont get a chance to do the same in 2012...

the outcome in 2012 will not be a redo of the disastor of 1964 even though we have a Romney running again...

Oh Noes! Now Politico doesn’t like FR either?

Disclosure: I find Romney wrong or squishy on too many issues. He is OK when he is flogging Obama.

Politico probably doesn't like FR much, but this article does not say FR is wrong to "block Romney supporters from posting" (although it does make FR sound tougher on Romney people than it actually is. In fact, I have seen Romney posters here who manage to avoid being zotted or otherwise censored. I think it helps to be polite and coherent).

This article quotes a person who doesn't like FR, and also has comments by JR. I can't find any criticism of FR by the author in it.

Politico was started by people from the Washington compost —when you read them, you’re basically reading the WaPo.

The ground has shifted beneath our feet and now they report about US..!

In 7 or so years there will NO LONGER be a WaPo. Also there will be no Time magazine or Newsweek.

They’ll be gone. NYT will also be a shell of it’s former self.

Politico is going for a two-fer. Yesterday it was Herman Cain, today it was Free Republic. At least we’re in good company!

I figure since Rove knew the Cain story has been around for 10 days it was his sorry ass who blew it up.

The analogy in 2008 was a vote for the slimebag John McCain. It’s not conservatives who failed to get McCain over the hump, it was McCain’s own public statement that, and he actually said this, “there is nothing to fear from a President Obama.” The sound bite mongers went wild at that, even though McCain almost surely was meaning to say that race was not a reason to vote against Obama. Independents heard the sound bite and thought hey, let’s take the licorice ice cream, it’s more interesting and even the vanilla said there wasn’t a difference. Mitt has many, many vices, but failing to officially oppose an Obama presidency has mercifully not been among them. Yet. But you never know with Mr. Waffle!

Please, if we’re thinking third party in the event of an abominable GOP Mitt nomination, let’s try to get a third party that’s actually viable for a change?

"If, God forbid, Mitt Romney secures the Republican nomination, I expect to see Ross Abraham rant that conservatives must pull the lever for him, else we are Obama supporters, or some such noxious tripe."

Not only that, but when Romney loses the general to Obama, he and the FR shills will be blaming conservatives (or 1 percenters, or perjorative du jour) for the loss.
