Rick Perry’s new economic plan won’t revive his campaign
WaPo ^ | 10/25/2011 | Ed Rogers

Posted on 10/25/2011 4:12:36 PM PDT by South40

The best thing that can be said about Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s economic plan and its Tuesday rollout speech is that before now, he didn’t have a plan, and now he does. He can check that box. There wasn’t anything wrong with it, and, as a good Republican, I support everything he said. The problem is, we have supported it all before. Our voters want and appreciate creativity. This didn’t offer much in the way of anything new. This program is Steve Forbes-lite. But it is what it is. Now he has to stick with it. “Cut, Balance, and Grow” is a good slogan, but this plan will only be a net plus for Perry if, over the next few weeks, he can recall and defend the details on live TV with smart, semi-hostile reporters asking the questions.

From behind the podium, Perry looks great. He looks so much like a Hollywood-produced president, he makes Mitt Romney look grunge. But Perry’s speaking style Tuesday was not reassuring. He appeared to wander at times, and he had the occasional aside that didn’t fit the speech very well. I couldn’t tell if he was using a teleprompter. If he wasn’t, he needs one. If he was, he needs to practice with it.

I don’t like Perry, I wish he and Cain would switch tax plans though

Oh, Ed Rogers of the Washinton Post is the new hero of the Cain people.

Wonder what other fine articles this man has written?

I didn’t ‘get caught’ posting to myself.

What’s with that? I posted to myself because I didn’t want to post to you people (you know who you are) and I will never post to you people, but sometimes I want to say something.

I may post to myself again. Deal with it.

The problem is that there were at least 2 good conservative candidates in the running for months, plus the great Sarah Palin waiting offstage, when Perry looked around and decided that he could climb onto the Tea Party bandwagon by chanting some slogans, and move up another notch (which is what career politicians are always trying to do). Perry muddied the waters and destroyed one of the conservative candidates (Bachman) and maybe discouraged another (Palin). Anyone who did his homework would have realized that Perry would fizzle in the debates. (There were also people who warned us that G.W. Bush was not conservative, but they were ignored, also.) We have the chance, in fact we have the need, to select a true conservative this time around...not just another hack who wants to be POTUS. (I wouldn’t be surprised if Pansey Graham thinks he should be POTUS someday; most Senators do).

I don’t see anyone who definitely gets my vote yet, but I fail to see any “good conservatives”... La Raza Perry isn’t one.

Yes you did. Your weak excuse does not explain this:

Hey, altura, you are a really smart young lady... love your opinions.

Hilarious! lol!

That’s seriously pathetic reason for posting WaPo tripe.

I hope that Perry or Cain wins the nomination. I believe that most FReepers agree.

Yes, that’s exactly why he waited until he had been in the race 3 months before revealing his “plan” lol...this was really his plan all along, he was just waiting until he hit rock bottom to “shock n awe”
the world

"Pathetic" is advocating for Perry for months only to deny you are for Perry.

I can't say I blame you; it reminds me of how many liberals won't admit they are liberal.

If it's such a good thing, why not just admit it?

I haven’t read all the threads, but what I have read have been read thoroughly, and much attention has been paid to the comments! That’s why I have been so disappointed; there have been more nasty comments than there have been substantive ones.

The Url you gave has been pulled, but I did try to access it.

Thank you for your nice comments. I thought I might have been read the riot act for having an unpopular opinion, so your kind words were much appreciated.

Here’s a tip. When talking to your alter freeper ego, it’s a good idea to sign out of one screen name and sign into another before addressing yourself....you know, so you don’t come off as crazy... the good news though is that the number of Perryboys isn’t as numerous as it seems. they are just using several freeper names and having conversations with themselves.....

Thrown under the bus by the Cain worshippers.

Mark Steyn
Rush Limbaugh
Mark Levin
Brit Hume

I said I wasn't impressed by what Rush or Levin had to say. Only in your mind does that equate to throwing them under a bus.

And I didn't mention Steyn.

As for Hume; he is openly advocating for Mitt Romney. In light of that he deserves to be thrown under the nearest bus. Anyone but a Romney supporter or a blind Perry supporter wouldn't agree.

Just a bunch of idiots.

I'm not sure how you think calling me names works to promote Rick Perry but if you really think so have at it.

AND Maybe you could get the WaPo to publish an op-ed on your theory that every college student that receives in state tuition must be a dependent. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2796626/posts?page=366#366

I am for Perry and for Cain and for Bachmann and for Newt and for Santorum. I’d be happy with any of those 5 as the nominee. None of them are perfect, but they all are conservative.
