Reflecting national trends, businessman Herman Cain has now jumped to the front of the Republican pack in Iowa.

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Iowa caucus-goers shows that Cain is in front with 28% followed by former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney at 21%. Congressman Ron Paul is a distant third at 10% followed by former House Speaker Newt Gingrich at 9%, Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann at 8%, and Texas Governor Rick Perry at 7%. The sixth place finish for Perry is a sharp decline from early September when Perry was the frontrunner both nationally and in Iowa.

Perhaps ? those who are “ soft “ on illegals happen to have some working for them illegally taking away jobs from Americans who need jobs.

" Shut up you old bag. Really Perry is 7 percent. It IS over for him. "

Yes, that tends to happen when you bite the hand that feeds you.
Telling those who are against illegals and illegal migration that they are wrong , well, we knew that this was going to happen.

" Perry has done NOTHING to convince me he thinks he misspoke on the “Have a heart” Dream Act. He has us convinced he is for amnesty and he wont come out and make clear that he is against it to fix things. I dont even see him in tough interviews, looks like he is trying the Palin strategy. "

That there was his downfall.
Any conservative should be wary of anyone saying those words " Dream Act " i.e. amnesty.

My concern however is that Cain was a head of a federal reserve bank, meaning he may be a soft money soft headed Keynsian inflationist and believes in bailing out the banks.

He was their mathematician and advisor on real life business.

Promoted to head because he knew what he was talking about.

Read the detailed bio.

” I connect with Cain and his common sense approach, willingness to say I don’t know, his sense of humor, and the fact he isn’t a political animal is more of a plus than anything to me. I believe he is smart enough to install a cabinet with his type of political animal to help him navigate thru the shark infested waters of governments, lobbyists and political power plays. “

My sentiments exactly. I’m sick of career politicians. I can buy a whore on any city street corner : )

Look at the guidelines == no personal attacks, no racisism or violence.

Hey Alaska. You should call this 3%er on his hypocrisy. I called his pro-ILLEGAL alien hero a sissy and he violated the posting guidelines, those same posting guidelines he trying to hold you to, by launching personal attacks against me. Oh the irony!

I'd like to see Cain put Ron Paul in the Treasury Department.

I do not think the Treasury Dept. has enough money for all the earmarks cut and run will want.

” He also will not likely to pull in legal Hispanic votes either after his comments about an electric fence killing those who try to cross.”

How many LEGAL hispanics do YOU know ?

I know a bunch, and most of them are

1) anti-illegal immigration

2) anti-amnesty

Thanks. You owe me no apology but honestly, I see no preference for anyone—except Ron Paul, perhaps. There are five Ron Paul people on the CC. Of course, I still do not see how that translates into a vote advantage for Paul.

Love the graphic. In a debate between Cain and Obama, the entire *race* factor would be neutralized. Black on Black, and it will be interesting to see where Obama’s race-baited *base* comes down.

Herman Cain is the most viable and believable candidate to seek the GOP nomination in many a year. He has a record of success in the private sector, notwithstanding the slurs of those who refer to him as a 'pizza delivery boy' and other such sneers, there is absolutely no question that he loves our Country, and he would act in the best interest of America and not be apologizing around the globe like the Marxist ideologue in the White House right now.

Are there questions about his 9-9-9 plan? Of course there are and it is good to fully explore, examine and ventilate it so that when/if it is enacted, it will perform as promised, and if it results in millions more Americans becoming tax PAYERS instead of the recipients of tax CREDITS (while not even working), that is a very good thing. We not only need more jobs, we need more TAXPAYERS instead of leeches on society. 9-9-9 is a solid step in that direction.

Ronald Reagan understood that if the federal government could get out of the way, that the magnificent American industrial base could do what it was meant to do, which is to outperform any and every other economic system on the planet. Reagan was never for 'free trade', he was for FAIR trade which is the critical difference, and my view of Herman Cain is that he shares that same perspective.

Will Herman Cain misspeak and make errors? Of course he will and already has. But as my good FRiend SickOfLibs has pointed out numerous times, he is at least out there in the public arena, promoting his ideas, defending himself and those ideas from the attacks coming from all sides, and he is unafraid to do so. The man has got guts, and as the great American and Marine R. Lee Ermey in his role as Gunny Hartman said in 'Full Metal Jacket' "GUTS IS ENOUGH!"
