David Axlerod took a swing at Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain Monday, saying that he thought Cains 9-9-9 proposal would hurt the poor and the middle class.
The senior Obama adviser called Cain an intruiging personality on Morning Joe, but took a shot at the Republican candidates tax proposal, saying, I think his plan deserves scrunity I dont think its good for most Americans.
I think youve got to add the 9-9-9 up, get to 27 percent, and thats probably what poor and middle-class people will end up paying once the thing is implemented, Axlerod said.
Despite the attention suddenly being heaped on the former Godfathers Pizza CEO, Axelrod said Cain was not going to be a top-tier contender in the 2012 election.
I think, when you look at the resources and when you look at the standing, that Perry and Romney are likely to be duking it out at some point here, said Axlerod.

Cain is up to stage two.
Thank you for that, I really like graphs and charts with raw information, rather than some analyst’s interpretation of the seldom-seen numbers. That would move Perry to a whopping 5.7%, or about the number of cheerleaders he has spamming the Front Page news everytime he ties his shoes without having to start over.
America was fooled by hype once. America should not get fooled by hype again.
The man that actually "put forth" the idea was a man that Cain knew with a B.S. in Accounting, Rich Lowrie. Cain just told him to come up with something "Bold".
=======================
From fan to The Man: How Cleveland's Rich Lowrie claimed a place in Herman Cain's inner circle
That's how Lowrie found himself this summer on a New Hampshire-bound flight with Cain, sketching the tax-reform plan that in recent weeks has become a household name and helped Cain surge to the head of the Republican field.
"I had one question for him," Lowrie said of the chat. "How bold do you want to be?"
Cain, "with his signature smile and booming voice," leaned in and replied: "Bold."
And so, "9-9-9" was born -- a proposal to replace the federal tax code with a flat 9 percent tax on personal income and businesses and a 9 percent national sales tax.
=======================
What is amusing is that after Cain asked Lowrie to do that in the Summer of 2010, Cain wrote an article in November of 2010 where he described a National Sales Tax as follows:
The worst idea is a proposed national sales tax, which is a disguised VAT because it would be one more tool to lie, deceive, manipulate and destroy this country. Cain then pointed out in the article, In every country that has established a VAT with the promise of reducing their national debt, the VAT has eventually gone up or expanded on top of the existing tax structure. .... For the liberal naysayers who say that would not happen, you lose! Just look at the Social Security system, Medicare and Medicaid. Over the years since their inception, taxes have gone up,
Dont be VAT stupid (Cain was AGAINST a National Sales Tax last November)
Cain is a snake oil salesman. So is Obama.
Before anyone complains that a National Sales Tax is not a VAT, those were Cain's words not mine.
The worst idea is a proposed national sales tax, which is a disguised VAT
He could then use the catchy title:
"Dont be VAT stupid" to play on "Dont be THAT stupid"
The same "one more tool to lie, deceive, manipulate and destroy this country last November is now being pitched as part of a "Bold" Plan that will now save America.
Cain is long on cute and catchy slogans and very short on consistency.
yes, they are...
the whole Washington District of Criminals is scared SH*TLESS!!!!
its a good thing, too....GO! Cain GO!
The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time
with the blood of patriots and tyrants..... Thomas Jefferson
The way to silence religious disputes is to take no notice of them.... Thomas Jefferson
Yeah, because Congress has a long history of dumping tax programs - after all, once the Feds get enough money, they stop. Right?
WHAT are you smoking?
I'm afraid you may be right. I'm also afraid that he's the best option we've got. At least he ran a fair-sized business successfully. You can't fake that.
That’s it! Well Said...But Cain needs to get his machine up and running. I’ve sent two emails to his campaign offering support in my state with no response. Part of me thinks he has been caught off guard by how well his message resonated, and now he is having to catch up. Let’s prove all these politico weenies that Cain is the real deal by swamping his site donating, and offering to be boots on the ground.
Best ‘you’ve’ got isn’t even close to the majority of the country. And if he keeps insulting voter blocks and making stupendously tasteless jokes, there will be even fewer. People just aren’t paying attention nationally and he polls haven’t caught up with Cain yet.
At least we know he will blame himself when he loses...
Sounds like they may be a bit nervous .
I think he's stay within the constitution, but could we get a worse person to "lead' that the guy inhabiting the golf courses and throwing Tomahawks at countries sans congressional approval, sending Climate Change to the EPA and DOE?? And has serious racist under and overtones? Okay rhetorical question. I'm leaning to a Cain/Gingrich ticket. Toss Perry in Israeli relations as an ambasador and let Bachmann become the ME Saudi ammbassador..hee hee. Let Ryan build the fence/border...I mean all those in the debates have some seriousskills and should not be put to pasture.
Most people will understand 'electrified' as a figurative rather than literal statement, effectively 'whatever it will take to work.' Still, he'll have to learn that a politician can't avoid accountability for a quip the way a talk show host can. It won't take him long but old habits die hard. At least he's a lot smarter guy than the glad-handing back-slapping imbecile from Texas.
At least we know he will blame himself when he loses...
To Zero! LOL, are you dreaming?

I just wish to God Palin had declared, but then there was that special metric showing that "women of a certain age" of both parties just hate her guts because she's young, pretty, energetic, and successfully married.
I personally never saw that coming until I stumbled across a discussion of the "PDS factor" among women right here on FR. It was one of the most disappointing things I've ever read, but I guess She Who Must Not Be Named read the same tea leaves. Fortunately, people aren't so narrow-minded about a black man, thanks to Tom Sowell and Clarence Thomas, and will consider Herman Cain for high office.
One can always say "I wish X had more ......" whatever, but to say that reflectively, is a joke when you consider how Obozo was vetted -- not.
Powder..patch..ball FIRE!
If Dennis Axelrod says Herman Cain doesn’t have a chance then I need to donate another $50 to his campaign. I’d really like to see him win.
Sarah was my first choice, Lets beat Obama with a Cain.
Most people will understand ‘electrified’ as a figurative rather than literal statement, effectively ‘whatever it will take to work.’
They will ? Governing is very, very difficult and the consequences of a mistake are very, very serious. ‘Whatever it takes’ to solve our problems’ with no record of serious accomplishments in public office is a complete non-starter- even against Obama.
He calls these comments a joke- again and again. As the leader of the free world, those kinds of comment would start wars. They are not funny. They are not called for , even on the campaign trail. If this is his style of conversation, then maybe he needs to reconsider his political calling.
I’m not sure Cain will get the nomination, but if he does I think Axelrod will be hearing this quote read back to him on election night when Herman buries Barry in a landslide.
Davie-Axie was back in NYC on Morning Joe this AM.
Gollllllllllllllly-LEE! It is really taking Davie-Axie a long time to get the NYC OBAMAVILLE SQUATTERS to be organized, or maybe just find their “Marchin’ Shoes.”
will be interesting to see what happens when the bottom 3 get a clue and drop out of the race
“those kinds of comment would start wars.”
Since Reagan’s quip during his reelection campaign “We begin bombing in five minutes” didn’t cause the Soviet Union to strike, don’t you think you’re overreacting a wee bit?
“To Zero! LOL, are you dreaming? “
Actually, no. His comment may be more troubling than it appears.
You can bet that this will not be the first time you will hear words such as those. You know the “moderates” as well as I, and would not trust them as far as you can throw them.
Then imagine that the Buma pull off a Mugabe-style voter fraud in 2012. By then such words will become “I told you so” and aid in putting down legitimate exposure and rebellion against of the fraud. Mugabe “agreed to” power sharing. How’s that worked out for Zimbabwe?
We are in for a world of hurt given how infiltrated this institution may now be. You know it will probably become worse. There’s just too much unaccounted for stimulus money afloat.
correct the above to read:
It was so obviously fraudulent that Mugabe “agreed to” power sharing.
