Las Vegas, Nevada One day before a CNN Western Republican presidential debate, a new national survey indicates that Mitt Romney and Herman Cain are essentially tied for the lead in the race for the GOP nomination, with Rick Perry dropping to a distant third.
.....According to the poll [CNN/ORC International Poll], only one third of Republicans and independents who lean towards the GOP say they will definitely support the candidate they are currently backing, with two thirds saying they may change their minds.
"With only 33% of all Republicans saying that their minds are made up, it's far too early to say the race is over, or even that is has boiled down to a mano-a-mano fight between Romney and Cain," says Holland.
The survey indicates that most Republicans say they are satisfied with the field of GOP candidates still in the race, although only one in five describe themselves as very satisfied. Republicans who back the tea party are more satisfied with the field of candidates than Republicans who are neutral toward the tea party.

Absolutely. Only professional, slick politicians should run for president.
Here's a portion of one ripping just yesterday
Gregory: Why you and not Mitt Romney?
Cain Why me and not Mitt Romney? Mitt Romney is a great businessman. I have a lot of respect for him. He has been more of a Wall Street executive. I have been more of a Main Street executive.
i also was under the assumption he was going to attack Romney in the last debate. He didn't.
Perry is actually running ads going after Romney. He is not attacking Cain, maybe he should in Florida where Cain promises to raise granny's taxes on food and medicine and destroy Medicare and Social Security. At least that would force Romney's fullback to backtrack on his outrageous "jokes" he keeps making.
People are merely appreciating the irony that one of the primary attack lines of the Perry camp is coming back to bite them on the butt now.
You gettin’ on the Cain train or are you going down on the SS La Raza Rick ?
Well, maybe we feel that way because Perry has been our governor for 11 years and served in public office prior to that.
Unlike Cain he actually has a record to stand on.
I guess you can think what you want but all you know about Cain (besides his rags to riches story) is what he says and that changes quite often. He will throw out something and if it’s not popular or he’s challenged on it, he says he was kidding.
I have no idea what you are talking about with your Slick Willard comment.
I support a man with a proven conservative record.
I also don’t follow the talking points of a 3-week old n00b.
This sort of juvenile sneering and pompous knee jerk negativity indicates a total absences of any measurable intellectual ability on your part
He’s been Governor of Costa Rica for 11 years ?
Novice candidate having never been elected to anything. History of Republican primary voters defaulting to the safe option (or the next person in line). Unconventional campaign = fail. Big money donors will give to Romney or Perry which will likely mean Cain will barely be competitive in the early primary states. Sorry, the Cain poll boomlet is likely to fade and/or not translate into actual primary votes. Cain will be under scrutiny now, the attacks will begin, his relative inexperience will result in bumbles and gaffes, everything he’s ever said as a talk radio host will be examined and anything inflammatory will be used to tear him apart.
Who knows for sure, but I still think Perry is probably the only person who can stop Romney from winning the nomination. And as Perry has proven he is not a good debater and not quick on his feet, Romney the chameleon’s chances have improved dramatically. In the end, I think most actual Republican primary voters want to beat Obama more than anything, and they will end up voting for the safest option. Cain will be judged as too risky.
Has anyone noticed that the election is still
385 days away?!
You better hope you are right. If not this is going to be posted as a reply to virtually even single one of your posts for Perry after the debate.
So you’re back to the OLD debunked talking point/false choice of La Raza Rick or Slick Willard.
Why don’t you try posting some truth instead of your usual hysteric emotional tirades for a change
Romney has the money and the boots on the ground.
Huntsman is broke and in debt. (seriously why is he even in this now?)
Santorum and bachman should stay to keep defining the election to the conservative.
Cain, we shall see if he can put supporters in key places.
Perry is depending on “then a miracle happns” strategy.
Romney seems to be cheep. Not frugal, but a tight wad. just saying that is the impression.
By the way Perry has a NOv.10th fundraiser scheduled in Tenn. so you will be seeing plenty of us. We're in it for the long haul.
See you at the finish line.
The growth of our out of control Federal Government tracks directly to the implementation of the income tax.
As long as you give politicians a potentially unlimited income stream, as the income tax does, they will find ways to spend it.
We can cut and cut and cut but the spending always comes back. Reagan cut the most of any modern President and the spending came back plus more.
Until you address the revenue side, Federal Spending is not going to be controlled no matter how much any President cuts.
You have to limit the Congresss ability to spend and borrow money (Cut, Cap, and Tax) but then you also need to limit its revenue stream. Cain’s 9-9-9 does that. Other Candidates should come up with their own ideas on how to accomplices the same goal. The current tax does is both corrupt and inefficient.
The genius of Cain’s 9-9-9 is, for the 1st time, there is a leading Presidential Candidate putting out a plan to limit Fed revenue. The key components is the sale tax. By spreading a lower over all tax burden to all Americans he creates an insurmountable problem for any future tax raises.
How do you convince people to give you more taxes when they personally know they will pay for the tax hike?
See the trick now is Congress can always disguise any tax hike by hiding it inside the overly complex tax code. By tweaking around the edges with the tax code they can gradually and systematically raise taxes with virtually no one noticing.
9-9-9 eliminates that ability to tinker around the edges of a mind numbingly complex tax code
I don’t think I’m still listed as being in Costa Rica. Another poster got all bent out of shape about it.
I told him it never occurred to me that someone would look up where I’m from.
I’m from Texas but I got tired of seeing the Texas posts every time I came on, so I just put Costa Rica.
Since it offended someone and I had no intent to deceive, I went back and changed it to ‘no location.’
I’ll have to check and see if I’ve moved back to Costa Rica.’’
You people !!!
Lies. Perrybots do nothing but lie. Could it be because their candidate's conservatism is a lie? Maybe they're so used to being lied to that they just treat everyone the way they're used to being treated.
If Perry drops out, don't suppose his support will go to Cain, it may go to Newt. Mine will.
Come on, go all out and tell us you're going to write in Perry if he drops out. You know you wanna.
I didn't start posting about Cain (other than an earlier vanity I did on Ronald Reagan that I dedicated to Cain) until he was dealt the race card and he played it. But now I've done some of my own vetting and I what I've found is that he leans toward central planning, is passive-aggressive, shoots off his mouth because he thinks he'll get a laugh and then turns around and says it's a joke (What's your problem?)
His views on the border and amnesty parrot Perry's.
Cain's views on TARP so strongly stated now are different because he didn't know how they'd do it -- How else do you do it -- you pick a favorite.
Abortion isn't for him but others must make that choice for themselves.
The 999 plan allows for enterprise zones and forgiveness of X (?) consumption by the poor before the national sales tax kicks in for them -- and that X can be made any number the deciders choose.
