Poll: Two-thirds of Republicans say minds are not made up

Las Vegas, Nevada— One day before a CNN Western Republican presidential debate, a new national survey indicates that Mitt Romney and Herman Cain are essentially tied for the lead in the race for the GOP nomination, with Rick Perry dropping to a distant third.

.....According to the poll [CNN/ORC International Poll], only one third of Republicans and independents who lean towards the GOP say they will definitely support the candidate they are currently backing, with two thirds saying they may change their minds.

"With only 33% of all Republicans saying that their minds are made up, it's far too early to say the race is over, or even that is has boiled down to a mano-a-mano fight between Romney and Cain," says Holland.

The survey indicates that most Republicans say they are satisfied with the field of GOP candidates still in the race, although only one in five describe themselves as very satisfied. Republicans who back the tea party are more satisfied with the field of candidates than Republicans who are neutral toward the tea party.

If it wasn’t for us telling the truth about La Raza Rick on all of your threads, it would only be the five or six of you left that support Perry talking amongst yourselves.

Perry is done. Any vote for Perry is a vote for Romney. Period.

It's a timid start. Nothing like Perry saying Romney is a carbon copy of Obama. Not like Perry spending money to attack Romney but a timid toe in the chilly waters on a obscure radio program is a start. Unfortunately 2 days later he was back to slapping him on the back.

We have a debate this week. Let's see if he joins Perry in the attack. I will bet dollars to donuts he goes after PErry for going after Romney.

Yeah. That's it Rove. Perry is a successful governor. Neither Cain nor Romney can say that.

As opposed to what? Perry mumbling all over his attack on Romney in the debates?

Romney is an easy target. The fact that Perry has a hard time hitting him squarely speaks volumes about Perry.

Spinning Wheel - What goes up must come down

Never forget.... If the people can take it up they in turn can take it down. When the vetting process is complete and Iowa - NH and SC have had their say we'll see how it truns out.

“Aren’t y’all the ones who say pay no attention to polls?”

I’ve never said that and I’d challenge you to find one post of mine that says otherwise. I even supported Perry when he got in and up to his third disasterous debate performance because the polls showed that he had the support to be the only viable challenger to Romney.

“Cain may win the nomination. If he does, I will support him against Obama.

You probably aren’t willing to say the same about Perry.

Let’s hear it.”

I have said, on more than one occasion here on Free Republic that I will support the eventual nominee. That stands even if that nominee (however unlikely) is Rick Perry.

False.

The 16th doesn't limit Congress to income taxes alone. Article 1 Section 8 authorizes Congress to set excise taxes (i.e. a national sales tax) in the United States as long as it's one rate.

The 16th was required because taxes on income were not authorized under the original enumerated powers.

Since yours it's the first post to make this claim, it's not surprising you don't realize revenue neutral still means cuts must be made because, if you hadn't noticed, we're overspending by a trillion-plus a year.

Cain supports a Balanced Budget Amendment and was among the first candidates to sign the Cut, Cap & Balance pledge. He's also said, when asked in debates, he would go department-by-department rebuilding them from the ground up if necessary and start with the EPA.

This isn't the first post I've seen even this week suggesting Cain has no desire to make cuts, but it's simply untrue.

Cain's role in this election has changed. So has Perry's.

They just happen to be changing in opposite directions.

This sort of juvenile sneering and pompous knee jerk negativity indicates a total absences of any measurable intellectual ability on your part

Project much?

Here is sneering and pomposity: It's exceptionally poor field if you are brain dead Obama bot who cannot be bothered to learn a single thing unless it is spoon fed you by the Junk Media.

Trash talking all the other candidates does not help you candidate.

As a 30 year vet of GOP politics, who will be a delegate in 2012, I have some advice for you all. IF you want your candidate to win, try telling us why he is the right choice. Trash talking all the other candidate merely makes us wonder what YOUR choice is trying hide from us

Go to his website and watch his commercials and press releases from the beginning of his campaign. He’s done a bad job in the debates no doubt. Cain is a professional speaker and debater as is Romney. It doesn’t change the fact perry has been the only one after Romney. He’s put his money where his mouth failed. By the way Cain gets around 25 percent and so does Romney so why does perry even matter to y’all? Especially since he only goes after Romney. He actually said Cain would be a good VP. Perry is helping you save money. He isn’t attacking Cain only Cain’s top rival.

Your style of junior high school level pompous sneering and ignorant knee jerk negativity are the behavior one normally expects to see in a spoiled child, not a rational adult.

I’m waiting for someone to pop up - even if it’s an independent - I’m more than willing to look closely. The GOP played their last hand in ‘08 - too many of us are not sheep but it appears there are 1/3 who are.
