“When the survey is narrowed to Republican respondents who consider themselves likely primary voters, Cain and Romney are tied at 27% each.”

Yes, Cain may prevent Perry from getting the nomination, ensuring that Romney does. Great job!

You are seriously delusional.

By your numbers, Cain is tied for first and you think he's preventing Perry from getting the nomination?

Doesn't it embarrass you to say such stupid things?

If anything third place Perry should drop out and endorse Cain to help him defeat Romney. But I can see that is too logical for you to understand; you think the man in first place is keeping the man in third from winning. Incredible.

There is NO WAY Perry is winning the nomination. He has shot himself in the foot one too many times.

Sorry, but that’s reality.

This has boiled down to a Romney Cain race. The faster the other conservative candidates realize this and gang up behind Cain, the better the chance it won’t be Romney.

The poll you use is at least 6 days old. The poll from the article is dated 101611. The most current poll is based on registered Repubs that are most likely to vote.

Furthermore, you’re quoting from a poll that was taken from Oct. 5 - Oct. 10. And your guy had only 15% of the vote in that one.

The poll in this article was taken Sunday, October 16.

I really do appreciate that you like your candidate, but it would be helpful to all Conservatives, all Republicans, all Independents, and even some Democrats, if you could offer some comparisons between your candidate and the others, instead of constantly attacking (with little or no substance behind your attacks) all the other candidates.

For example, perhaps you could tell everyone your candidate’s economic strategy? Or his foreign policy? Or his jobs growth plan?

Perry will no longer be running by the time of the SC primary, so you have nothing to worry about.

How do you figure that? Lately Perry has been down with the 2nd tier candidates in some polls and the lowest of the top tier. So how is it that HE would keep Perry from beating Romney? And if that were true, couldn’t the opposite also be true? Maybe it’s Perry that’s keeping Cain from beating Romney.

It’s speculation at this point, though I think it was more likely when Perry first got in. He’s been responsible for his own drop. He was an unknown quantity to most people, myself included but a president needs to be glib and able to think on his/her feet. For many, his performance in the debates was our first introduction to how he handles himself under pressure. As people have gotten to know him (as with the others in the race) people have gravitated away from or towards him.

Shouldn’t it be the candidates impressing us enough to support want to them? Blaming Cain supporters is disingenuous. They have viable reasons for believing their candidate can win the nomination as well. The midterms saw a huge influx of outsiders into congress and with varied kinds of experience in the private sector. I don’t think any of us are done cleaning house. I don’t particularly care if someone “sounds” like a politician. Personally, I’d rather have someone who has enough experience in the private sector to know what the government to do to keep the heck out of the way. Cain’s executive experience means he knows how to run a corporation. Running a government is no different and requires the exact same skill set.

Clairity, what you posted is actually from a completely different poll from a week ago when Romney and Cain were only separated by 1% point in the full poll.

So we are supposed to abandon the guy in first place who is the most dynamic conservative in the race in order to support the guy in third place (or is it fourth or fifth place) who has done such a poor job articulating himself that he has had to put his wife on the campaign trail to drum up sympathy for him?

This is your strategy for beating Romney?

If Perry were leading or tied with Mitt and Cain third but had more money, would you think it made any sense for Cain supporters to demand that Perry drop out so that third place Cain could “beat Romney?”

Are you really that stupid?
