America's Ruling Class -- And the Perils of Revolution By Angelo M. Codevilla

It'd be nice if we had two parties. We don't.

CO has a 3.5% sales tax and once Denver is added in our sales tax is 8%. That means, under 9-9-9, we’d have an effective sales tax of 17% for every purchase except food and 9% on food. That’s offset with a reduction in personal income taxes and lower business taxes but it’s still a chunk of change.

Regardless, time is on our side as the candidates define themselves to voters. Look at the other side too. 0zero is so lame that the MSM has to hype the Occupy Wall Street crowd to have something to talk about.

DNC Dave was clueless in an argument with Cain. He was stuck with someone else chatting points without any thoughts of his own. Cain ate him up.

The Romneys, Newts,McCains and Perrys are outsiders we let in.

If that is true, then somewhere along the way you lost control, because the Republican Elites -- who support them are the ones in charge of the Party and most of the election machinery.

There is still a big difference between the socialists in the democratic party and the mostly Conservative Republican party. Sarah Palin spoke out well against crony capitalism. We need to keep the pressure on Washington, DC. It is OUR country as much as theirs!

I agree the media would love to see us divided and work very hard at it.

I’m more interested for now in this dark side of FreeRepublic.

Although I’ve got some misgivings about Cain, particularly his 999 plan.

But I’ve got an open mind, not so open that my brains fall out.

I seriously doubt such a thing would ever pass through congress and I ponder that he shouldn’t abandon the idea.

But again.....I need to be convinced.

I think the big thing about Cains 999 plan is that it ends class warfare. Something the dems just could not stand for.

I've read up on the books about FairTax and Steve Forbes' flat-rate no-loophole tax and both books clearly point out early on how insidiously corrupting the tax code has become, not to mention the US$500 BILLION per year compliance and economic opportunity costs of the current system.

In short, economic and political insanity, in my humble opinion. Getting rid of that mountain of tax loopholes--which the Forbes flat tax, the 9-9-9 tax plan, and FairTax would do--goes a long, long way towards cleaning up government, to say the least.

My problem with the Cain plan is the lack of any way to prevent increasing the tax rates. Short of a constitutional amendment, I would expect furutr politicians to increase the tax rates.

True, but that is different from now...how?

most voters only know him via the last three debates

For all the hoopla about the debates, most of the information is from video clips that makes the national news. At most, just over 6 million watched, so far.

Most people don't pay much attention until actual voting [primaries] starts in their state. All those early polls are relatively meaningless at this point. Otherwise, Giuliani and Hillary Clinton would have been the contenders in Nov 2008.

They are only in charge as long as the money keeps rolling into DNC coffers and rino election campaigns. That is all changing and the change is on our side.

Perry lost me with his “heartless” comment.

Not saying I can’t be won back but I’m listening closely to his stand on immigration, et al.

If you think that it ends class warfare then you're kidding yourself. By increasing taxes for those at the lower end of the economic spectrum and lowering them for the upper end, it takes 'class warfare' from a Republican issue and gives it to the Democrats. I guarantee that if Cain is the nominee, Obama and the DNC will be throwing out 'class warfare' every chance they get.

That the other thing Conservatives seem to be missing.

Congress has 2 ways to extort the campaign funds they raise to run from special interest groups.

They can either promise favorable regulatory changes or favorable tax code changes.

9-9-9 eliminates one of the primary sources of corruption in our Fed Government. The ability to write preferential treatment into the tax code in exchange for campaign donations and PAC money

Yep, was there too, after learning Bachmann, Cain and Perry meet with 2010’s Harry Reid supporter Donald Trump, started thinking Santorum and Gingrich were starting to look as top tier as any, though I am for any of the above over the lib candidate, Cain had a fine performance this morning and now I have a little more confidence in supporting Cain.
