Herman Cain has the highest favorable rating of any Republican presidential candidate among Republicans and Republican-leaning independents polled by Gallup, according to a survey released today.
Cain's 77-percent favorable rating edges out former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, whose favorable rating is 72 percent, says Gallup.
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is third at 66 percent, Texas Gov. Rick Perry is fourth at 63 percent, former Sen. Rick Santorum is fifth at 62 percent, Rep. Michele Bachmann is sixth at 59 percent, former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman is seventh at 54 percent, and Rep. Ron Paul is eighth at 53 percent.
The survey was conducted between Sept. 26 and Oct. 9. The respondents were asked whether they had a strongly favorable, favorable, unfavorable, or strongly unfavorable view of each candidate. The percentages reported above were the combined responses of stongly favorable and favorable.
Herman Cain also had the lowest unfavorable rating--13 percent. Romney's unfavorable rating was 18 percent.
Cain's favorable rating has gone up slightly and Romney's has gone down slightly since the last time Gallup polled Republicans and Republican-leaning independents on how they viewed Republican candidates. In a survey conducted Aug. 22-Sept. 4, Cain had a favorable rating of 73 percent and Romney had a favorable rating of 71 percent.
In that Aug. 22-Sept. 4 poll, Perry was tied with Cain with a 73 percent favorable rating.
see post 39 for my response to those who think there is no difference between Hussein and ANY ONE (in this case Mitt) of the Republicans.
IMO the worst possible Republican candidate would be Romney. Obama should be firmly ousted, if not prosecuted.
Ita, I will NEVER vote for a rink again. Never. Again. If Romney is the candidate, I will write in the name of a conservative.
Rino
It seems natural - Palin & Cain are on the same page. I like Bachman and Pailin but starting to get excited/hopeful about Cain.
Mainly praying that God will save our nation! 0bama stresses my heart out. Seriously!
I am hoping 999 can evolve into 14/14, or something close with a flat business and individual tax on all, do some simple deductions at the low end per dependent (no additional credits or deductions beyond a simple standard deduction per person) to help lower the burden on the lower income earners. It is a natural compromise to Cain’s plan. Ditch the sales tax portion that is a significant transition to oversee.
Support without cash = lying MSM pollsters..Just as they lied when they said Perry was ahead, just as they lied when they said Bachmann was ahead.
MSM pollsters are picking our candidate, messing with everybody
I like Cain, I do! I am just being consistent with what I have said all along.
Why any of you people believe whatever the pollsters tell you, just blows my mind...It`s like Alice in Wonderland.
THERE IS ZERO SCIENCE IN POLITICAL PARTISAN POLLING
I hope you are right. The way I see it there are 4 candidates dividing up the votes, Bachmann, Cain, Santorum and Newt. This is helping Romney stay in front with his 25%. The field needs to be winnowed soon, otherwise Romney will gain too much of an advantage and lead.
Amen! I’m so sick of hearing Rove on Fox. Enough already. His hatred of Palin and Cain is so obvious.
I just sent a donation to Mr. Cain. The only way to shut up Rove and his like is to support Mr. Cain with our $$.
Actually I forgot to include Perry in that list..so there are 5 conservatives fighting 1 moderate.
“shaved gerbil”??!! Damn that is funny!
Amen to the revenue adjustment but we need to hear more about lawfully limiting spending to something less than revenues.
I don't know about that. They sure seem to have their moments:
Bush -- Medicare Part D
McCain -- McCain/Feingold
“Most of us mere mortals aren’t as pure and wind-driven as you”
Been there..
You see similar reactions to Cain these days.
Is there anyone else in the debates with his charisma?
Ditto
As details come out on his 999 Plan, he will plummet. Its already happening, it just hasn’t hit the polls yet.
A 9% business tax sounds good until you realize that it eliminates all business deductions except for equipment replacement.
The 9% flat income tax will decimate the middle class and force many of them under. No retiree or working boomer wants to continue to pay taxes after retiring. The only good part of retiring is finally being exempt from payroll taxes. And why should exemption zone workers be given a break? We’re all suffering out here across America.
The 9% National Sales Tax is not going over well.
Cains 9-9-9 Tax Code Scrap Keeps Levies on Gasoline, Beer (and cigarettes)
I don’t drink beer, so I’ve no idea what an additional 9% will add to the cost. But I do not want to pay another $.39 per gallon for gas, we’re already paying 18.1% nor do I want to pay another $10.00 for a carton of cigarettes. Imagine having to pay another 9% on necessary medications.

Cain: I didnt realize in 2005 that the housing bubble existed

Really? We all knew it. And you set yourself up as business savvy?
Cain: No need to audit the FED while he hosted the Neil Bortz show:

What about the criminal fraud that was exposed in the GAO audit? And you think we can and should trust the FED
internal audits?
I’m looking at Bachmann again and need to take another look at Santorum. I really wish Palin was in.
Romney is moving to the Left because he knows he won’t get the Conservative vote. He is banking on the Democrats crossing over to vote for him. I hope that ploy fails. He is the absolute worst candidate we could possibly have.
I am not worrying about Mitt. Mitt cannot get out the mid 20's in the polls. Mitt will win NH and little else.
After Mitt wins NH, if we can ignore the press with what be insane rants, and the RINO brainwashing about the inevitability of Mitt, then Mitt will only go downhill.
There is no way Mitt wins any Southern states.
We will all breath easier once Mitt fails to secure the nomination.
