PITTSBURGH -- Occupy Pittsburgh says it intends to hold a nonviolent protest march Saturday in Pittsburgh, modeled after the recent Occupy events that have made headlines in New York and several other large cities.

The group says its permit for the march is still under review, but the plan is to start at 11:45 a.m. at Freedom Corner in the Hill District and proceed downtown, ending with a rally at the Point State Park fountain.

Along the route, marchers intend to stop for brief rallies outside BNY Mellon, Citizens Bank, the former Federal Reserve Building, the Federated Tower, One PNC Plaza and the U.S. Steel Tower, where UPMC has its corporate headquarters.

Protesters want to draw attention to issues including corporate greed, income inequality and unemployment.

Organizers of the local group held their first meeting last week at the First Unitarian Church in Shadyside. They say they are "acting in solidarity" with Occupy Wall Street and the Occupy Movement.

Maybe it will rain. We wouldn’t want our newly done hair, nails and makeup to get wet.

Just when the sulphur smell vacated the South Side (from this weeks visiting Usurper) now we will have to contend with hippies. We’ll be longing for the good old days of coke oven discharges:)

I am oddly curious too see how many Occupados attend. It conflicts with a Pitt homegame.

Pittsburgh has been governed by democrats for as long as I can remember, which is why so many have fled the city for the suburbs.

I’m confused about college kids complaining about student loans. Can anyone tell me where their baby boomer parents happened to be when EVERY financial expert instructed us to save for our children’s education? You don’t have to graduate college with $80,000 in student debt. There are tons of options, however, the entitlement class that’s been created wants it all and wants it now.

I hope they have an “Occupy Detroit” group. They could use the headcount there.

“You don’t have to graduate college with $80,000 in student debt.”

Agreed. Our son had NO debt when he graduated. Of course, he didn’t insist on going to an Ivy League school to major in basket weaving or French philosopy.

I don’t get the loan thing either. Why aren’t they mad at the Universities making tuition so high? I have school debt, and I am making payments on it (It’s nowhere close to what these clowns say they owe). It’s what is fair. That’s how life works. I am given money, I pay it back (with the interest that fully knew when I SIGNED THE PAPERS).

That’s the problem. Liberal professors convincing these kids to study something that will only result in one job. The job of the professor.

There is a Pitt-Utah football game at Heinz Field.
Other than that nobody has any reason to be downtown on a Saturday this time of year.

Professional leftists that are coming in from out of state to protest at da ‘burg need to now that Pittsburghers speak a rather unique dialect known as Pittsburghese.

I ain't jaggin yinz about this.

I have translated the first two paragraphs into Pittsburghese:

Picksburg — Occupy Picksburg says it intends to hold a nonviolent protest march Sadurdy in Picksburg, modeled after da recent Occupy events that have made headlines in New York and several other large cities.

Da group says its permit fer da march is still under review, but da plan is to start at 11:45 a.m. at Freedom Corner in da h’l District and proceed dahntahn, ending wit a rally at da Point State Park fountain.

Lefty minions do love their ‘solidarity.’ Based on their behavior, I can only assume ‘solidarity’ means ‘government dependence for all.’

If they’re waiting for the students to voluntarily show up in the Hill District, they may have a long wait.

LOL. I almost forgot about the Iggle n ‘at.

But in all seriousness, I’m sure that the leftists visiting da ‘burgh will want to make friends with the locals.

So I suggest that they say the following phrase loudly when entering any picksburg beer garden:

“Da stillers are lahsee and yinz arn drinkers are sucko.”

The leftists will hang around the CMU student body, tuition per year over $43,000, while complaining about capitalism.

Oh the irony of it all.

They’d better hurry up and schedule their “Occupy Buffalo” event before the lake effect snow hits.

43k per year at CMU? That must be with a Giant Iggle Dvantage Card discount n’at. Not being a jagoff, but I think the tooishen is well over 50k.

My next to youngest is a HS senior this yeatr; he has sort of settle upon a branch campus (for first 2 years) of PSU +r if money is offered VTech). He wants to go into either mechanical of (shudders) petroleum engineering (because there are jobs being created in—horrors—Marcellus Shale fields). He has met with DISCOURAGEMENT (why don’t you want to ‘go away’ as soon as possible! His answer ‘so I don’t pile up a lot of debt!). His sister was an RA (she threatens to write a paperback) and between the free room and board; coupled with athletic and academic scholarships, she came out of a small Catholic college with almost NO debt—it came be done...but you have to actually work.

Lastly, even though son numero quatro has taken AP and Honors classes exclusively and has a 4.1xxxx GPA...he wasn’t academically qualified for the rarified CMU.
