So what if Cain doesn’t yet have all the foreign affairs experience. Hillary now has it but does that make her a potential better candidate than Cain? Let’s not forget Cain has excellent leadership skills that will serve him well in the presidency. Let’s not get all bent about 999 plan. Its subject to be tweaked later but the premise is a good start. I still think Cain is the best of the bunch.

We can, however, spell.

Spelling is highly overrated...

I have changed my opinion of the people that can't spell...I no longer consider them ignorant, as before, but just the expected product of our liberal school system that we have been infected by for several decades.

Newt does have a fighting chance. I don’t know if Newt would go for it but say Cain won the nomination, Newt as Veep and as a team player would be a strong choice because as a team they would argue that what Cain lacks in Washington experince Newt would more than compensate, and what Newt lacks in specific problem solving skills is deferred to Cain.

I do not believe that 9-9-9 is a non-starter. If Cain wins the election it is a strong mandate for Congress to simplify the code. They would have 2 years to do it. Newt could work it through the House. Cain could of course veto that which he cannot accept. By 2014 any GOP candidate who did not vote for 9-9-9 would be retired in the primary. The GOP will become less a party and more a movement. Which is what is always should have been.

I like that Perry is concentrating on jobs and energy independence.

Funny that prior to candidates jumping in, this election was going to be about job creation, and the economy. All of a sudden, it's become about college tuition, and the religion/religious difference of candidates' supporters.

The Chief Executive of a state with the 14th largest economy on the globe, who has served in that capacity for about a decade is all of a sudden ignored on the accomplishments that state has achieved.

The Chief Executive of the state that has actually sued the over reaching regulatory agencies in DC, well, that's irrelevant.

Boy, are we ever being played, and it's going to get us Romney or Obama because I think Governor Goodhair is the only one who can pony up the cash to go against Romney and Obama.

I think you can forgive a politician a little bit for behaving like a politician. As Speaker even (and perhaps even afterwards, with ideas of a comeback) one has to get things done.

Forgive, a little bit, I said. Certainly Newt is not ideal, and he seems to me short on plans and ideas though I admit I have not studied his campaign material. Still I think he’d make a decent teammate to help overcome the deficiencies of Cain, or Perry, or anyone else on the stage the same way Biden was selected because he “knows Washington” and knows Foreign Affairs where Obama was said to be inexperienced. Except for Newt and maybe Santorum the whole GOP stage is short on Washington experience. I think it is a good thing in many ways but people will worry. Newt could help allay concerns.

Wait, I thought all the “experts” told us this was clearly a two man race now between Perry and Romney.

I have a question for everyone on the 9-9-9 plan....

If there is no national sales tax on used goods, what will that do to the manufacturing base? Good for used car lots, and a disaster for new car sales? Used homes versus new homes? Rent versus buy?

Just curious as to what people think....

I think Cain’s 9-9-9 plan would be a total disaster, and how any Freeper can be backing it is beyond me. There would be no new construction, no new anything; everyone would have to buy used goods to avoid the high taxes on commodities. And, Cain wouldn’t be in office more than 4 years, especially if his 9-9-9 plan went into actual effect. After 4 years any new Prez or Congress could take his 9% new sales tax and jack it up to 20% if they felt so inclined. Geez, people, use your heads.

First of all, there is no such thing as a National Republican Primary, so this poll is worth less than a warm mouth full of spit. Second, hopefully everyone here is going to vote for whatever Republican is running against Obama, even if it's Hillary changing parties to do just that.

I believe the most underrated qualification is common sense. Cain has it but I don’t think Newt does. Newt would be great in a cabinet position.

Absolutely! Romney is an obvious liberal, and Newt, although quite intelligent, has been slowly slithering to the left on many positions, in addition to all of the baggage he carries. Neither is an acceptable conservative candidate.

So you would choose sleazy but capable over honest and sincere? We had 8 years of sleazy but capable in Clinton and we’ve had 3 years of sleazy in Obama. Where has that gotten us? I’ll choose honest and sincere over sleazy and capable anytime. If someone is sleazy, how can he be trusted to do the right thing?

How can a sleazy genius make an incredible President? Clinton was a sleazy genius and was a disaster for the country. We need someone with integrity and principles like Cain, and I believe that his lack of politcal experience would be a plus rather than a minus. Look at where all of the professional politicians have gotten us.

I just don’t see Nobama’s supposed stage presence (supposed because the media told us he was a brilliant orator and we were supposed to believe it) and never have. I just see a man reading teleprompters with breathy pauses in the same places each and every time. Also with an annoying hissy “S”. I never watch his speeches because I can’t bear to.

I am going with Newt or Cain as well - No Romney!! He is too liberal! Newt has baggage but is smart enough to have learned from his mistakes and not repeat them.

“you really need to understand the plan before you go off on other Freepers”

I do understand the plan, and so do lots of others, and so too will lots of Freepers as more and more comes out about it. It is no deal at all for the middle class. Hopefully you will figure that out one day.

By the way, the “experts and economists” that Cain said had helped create his plan and vouched for it, it turns out was one person, and that person it turns out wasn’t even an economist. Cain had to admit this at Tuesday’s debate. Yeah, a real well thought out plan, that. One catchy phrase with no substance behind it. Sure the plan is simple; it is also simplistic, and there is a difference between the two.

do you not understand that the prices for all those new items will be much cheaper because the hidden taxes already built into the price you pay won’t be there anymore?
