Six people have been killed in a shooting at a beauty salon in California.
Nine hairdressers and customers in total are believed to have been hit when a man opened fire at Salon Meritage, a beauty salon just blocks from the Pacific Ocean in the upscale seaside resort of Seal Beach. The gunman's ex-wife is believed to have worked in the salon, according to local sources.
Orange County authorities rushed to the scene and seized the male suspect in a traffic stop a half-mile from the shooting.
The shooter - said to live locally - was thought to have been wearing body armour in the attack. When officers raided his car they found multiple weapons, police said.
He didn't offer any resistance when he was arrested. Seal Beach Police Sergeant Steve Bowles said: 'We believe he is the only shooter. He was taken into custody without injury.'
Workers in neighbouring businesses said they hid in the bathrooms after hearing shots.
One woman said she was working at a nail salon and hid with about six other people for 15 minutes until they heard the gunman was caught.
The three people who were not killed instantly have been rushed to hospital in critical condition.
The shooting happened at about 1.30pm today. Those hit included hair salon employees and customers.
Police had the murder scene roped off last night.

People's minds have become jelly, and with the slightest challenge in life, such as a tough relationship, they are more and more willing to go into public places, take out that person, and anyone else who just innocently happens to be in the place at the time, and then (usually as is the pattern) just "off" themselves.
A sign of the times.
This statement is neither pro nor anti gun, just a reflection of what America is often becoming IMHO. People cannot handle adversity (layoffs, personal challenges, arguments/strife) i.e. that which they once were able to do by "manning up" and could do relatively easily. Weaklings. Moral cowards. Human rubbish, actually. Worthless. And now wards of the state for the rest of their life, on the dole, out of our pockets.
As per the news wires .....Eight people now dead. Two of the three people transported to the hospital in critical condition have died.
Don’t like the anchor around the guys neck ..... means he may have been in the military maybe Navy or perhaps Marines.

Unbelievable. Why would he want to kill innocent people when it was apparently his wife he was gunning for . . . unless he felt like they convinced her to leave him.
I was listening to John/Ken show out here..a caller confirmed suspect was ex-military (can’t recall but think caller said Navy)..also, he was wearing body armor.
Theres some sort of fouled anchor emblem on the chain around his neck. The chain's heavier than a military dogtag chain, but I'd bet that the fella has been out of the Navy for quite sometime, based on his weight.
The body armor report sort of explains why the cops left him with his shirt pulled open. Looks like the buttons are still in place, but it may be a bit difficult for him to fasten them with his hands in back.
