concrete is really expensive these days

I think I’m going to use concrete pier footings and use pea gravel for the floor of my outbuildings, especially the greenhouse.

Also, don’t forget a rain capture system from your barn roof. A 40X80 roof can capture almost 2000 gals per inch of rain.

My building will include a long, thin floor drain down most of the middle, with a 25x28 band rehearsal/mancave room and a couple of other separate rooms. And a 12x25 woodworking room off to the side to be heated and dust controlled separatelyIt is also where I think there is a better than 50% probability some of my adult children will live for a while when the SHTF.

It really needs a concrete floor so I’m forking it over. I have been hearing $80 a yard in my neck of the woods.

Oh, and the rain capture is a big deal. In this area we can get massive downpours that last an hour or more. It’s why I have really good ditches on the driveway when it comes up the hill from the valley.
