Friends and fellow citizens,
If you'd be so kind as to give your honest assesment of the candidates tonight including who you can support and whom you cannot.
Please chime in. It'd be helpful to know what you all are thinking right about now. Kate
Did you watch it on TV or computer? I had to watch on WaPo computer, and I am exhausted! I thought this was the worst debate yet. The format was all wrong somehow. Of course the reception on computer left everything to be desired = very poor video work. I thought the men who were interviewed afterward did well but no one was extraordinary tonight. Of course they were sitting in left wing territory! Perry was pretty good but a little on the defensive. Poor Ron Paul. His heart is in the right place but he just doesn’t have the ability to express himself very well. Mitt was positively robotic! They didn’t let Cain rebut, but he took it like a gent. Again, Paul was combative about the Fed. Reserve. Mr. Cain spoke from a different exsperience and pointed outthat when he served it was at a different time than today. Santoorum came across as someone who was going to be heard from tonight, and said some good things.
All in all I was disappointed, but perhaps the debate had been over hyped to begin with. I don’t know if any minds were changed. What was your take ?
LOL! Thanks. I needed that.
Don’t want to diss any of them becuase whoever gets the nomination I will vote for. But the only one with a chance of saving the nation from collapse is Newt. Newt is also fully vetted, what you see is what you get. Newts gop house saved the nation back in 95-96, now we are in even worse shape. So for me Newt is the man. I fully expect him to rise in the polls, every debate he out classes the field with his grasp of the problems their causes and the solutions. I also like that he wants to see Frank and Dodd in prison. I do too.
Slicker than snot.
How can you "fumble" a question by giving a direct honest answer. Cains answer was based on his experience actually working with Greenspan. Now you might disagree with Cain's answer, but he certainly didn't "fumble" the question.
Romney is a strong candidate who could challenge for and win the nomination to be the candidate for POTUS of the democrat party. No doubt left in my mind that this guy is a liberal. He is not a RINO but a dyed in the wool liberal.
His brazen liberalism and the establishments support for this turd tells me that they clearly think the Tea Party is done. Well, I think we have a shock in store for Mittens.
His clearly fumbled that question, Mr Bubble Greenspan the best fed chairman is the last 40 years? If that is what Cain thinks then he should not be allowed to appoint a fed chairman. I like Cain but he is not a serious candidate, good guy but no where near ready to be president of the USA.
I dismissed him as a serious candidate after the flubbed the “right of return” question a few weeks back. I was warming up to him again but new national sales tax? Greenspan best fed chairman? Nope, no sale.
I never thought i’d say this but Gingrich may be the only choice to beat Obama. Whatever his personal baggage, Obama’s corruption and ineptitude trump it.
Since there are no real debates any longer, I pay no attention to them. I am voting for Cain and I hope he wins the Nomination. Next in line would be Perry, he is still better than Romney, even with his illegals hang up.
Under no circumstances will I vote for Romney, Huntsman, Perry or Paul. The rest I am watching. When I decide, that is who I will vote for in the primary, but when the money bundlers put Romney or Huntsman on the ballot against Obama, I know Obama will win, so I will be writing in who I wanted to be there, just for my conscience.
Once again.... Palin won this debate hands down.
just my opinion...
Oh, Amen! If only.....
Agreed. Never thought I would be on the Newt bandwagon, but it is clear he is the only choice. At least we would get to watch him crush O
This makes no sense. The nomination will go to the candidate who has the most delegates. Delegates will be won according to who receives how many votes in the primaries. It all boils down to votes.
Social Security is regulated as a welfare program. Herman Cain's plan does not change this.
I feel the same way too, but I also recognize that Cain has been a top-tier candidate for all of a week at this point and most primary voters have not yet heard about his 999 plan. He made it simple and repeats it over and over again for a reason. He can't stop when we political junkies are sick of hearing his introduction. He has to keep repeating himself until almost everyone has heard it.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!
There is pretty much zero chance we’ll get 60 in Senate. I’m not even convinced we retake the Senate. We’ll keep the House though.
He gave a poor answer, by any conservatives estimation.
Mitt’s a closet flaming socialist.
Bachmann flubbs her lines and has no legislative accomplishments save the light bulb bill.
Santorum is about as likeable as a doorstop.
Cains 9-9-9 plan would likely crush lower income earners and will be used as a cudgel by Obama and friends.
Paul is simply as mad as a hatter.
Perry just seems clueless.
Huntsman actually worked for Obama so you can’t trust his judgement or intentions.
So that leaves our veteren statesman, Gingrich, warts and all, who is tough and actually helped improve the state of the country economically.
Perry - It's nice to know he can actually come to a debate and not shoot himself over and over again. Since I'm looking more towards a leader for the party as well as the nation, he finally did himself some good. Can support.
Romney - John McCain could really get behind him.. Which isn't saying much positive for him. Hated him before, still hate him now, so didn't make much difference. Would actively campaign against him if he won the nomination.
Newt - Very polished debater, though massively got the feeling he was there to appease himself, not others, which is typical Newt. Not going to win the nomination like Ron Paul, why either are there, who knows. MIGHT hold my nose and vote for him. Does have a clue about how this is a whole package - house, senate and white house should campaign as a single instrument. Would hold my nose and vote for him.
Bauchman - The Anti-Palin at this debate. Should be in a room with Newt and Paul so they can commiserate together about how they've been cheated. Would actively campaign against.
Paul -Even a broken clock can be right at least twice a day - doesn't mean you shouldn't get rid of it. Would actively campaign against.
Sanatorum - All those years living off the public’s dime debating in the senate has paid off... Now, can we strip away his looting of the public treasury for his ‘retirement’ and get him off the stage finally? MIGHT hold my nose and vote for him.
Overall, little change. Of the current field, I feel Perry's got the best shot, and has quite a few bones to pick with the RINO machine. Second would be Newt, distant third would be Cain and holding up someone’s rear is Sanatorum. Still don't know why Romney's not running for the Democrat nomination, what planet Paul comes from, but it's probably the same one Bauchman inhabits.
