In a "Joy Behar Show" segment scheduled to be aired on HLN Friday, singer Harry Belafonte attacked Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain in potentially the most disgraceful manner of any media member to date.
While his host and others on the set laughed, Belafonte called Cain "a bad apple" that was "so denied intelligence...I dont think prayers were created for him" (video follows with transcript and commentary):
JOY BEHAR, HOST: Now, let me interrupt you for a second, because now you have someone like Herman Cain.
HARRY BELAFONTE: Who?
BEHAR: Herman Cain?
BELAFONTE: Herman Cain?
BEHAR: You know who he is. [Laughs] And he doesnt believe that racism holds anyone back in any way now. I mean, you know, what do you think about that statement?
BELAFONTE: Well, you know, its very hard to comment on somebody who is so denied intelligence
[LAUGHTER FROM BEHAR AND OTHERS IN THE STUDIO]
BELAFONTE: and certainly someone who is as denied a view of history such as he reveals. He knows very little. Because he happened to have had good fortune hit him, because he happened to have had a moment when he broke through, the moment someone blinked, does not make him the authority on the plight of people of color. [ ]
BELAFONTE: I just want to make this observation about Herman Cain. The Republican Party, the Tea Party, all those forces to the extreme right have consistently tried to come up with representation for what they call black, what they call the real negroes, and try to push these images as the kinds of voices that America should be living through. So we got Condoleezza Rice, we got Colin Powell. I know theyre heroes for some people, but for a lot of us theyre not.

I believe this was almost verbatim what the NAZI spokesmen in Adolf’s Germany told the masses - the people who are not like us are dumb, uneducated, dirty, forgotten their history, blah blah blah.
It is strikingly awesome to see how close the Democratic party is coming to Hitler’s NAZI regime. The “Occupy” crowd is now marching to the homes of the ‘enemies’. How soon before they start locking people up or taking pot shots at those who will not bend to their will?
To those on the left - you are, in all honesty, the NAZIs of today. You do not practice tolerance, you practice intolerance. You do not strive to improve the lives of people, you strive to have the government do it so you don’t have to be bothered. And in the back of your mind, you know that you would like to kill or imprison anyone who does not ‘see’ things your way. You’re a spoiled child - just like Adolf. Your ways do not work and only spread misery. And we will fight you tooth and nail to make sure the misery you offer does not sweep our country into Gas Chambers.
Harry Bellafonte?
Who’s that?
The irony of these two dumb birds calling Cain stupid ...my, oh my.
Oh yeah, like I really care about the ranting of a third-rate, low-talent, lounge lizard. Head for Venezuela and move in with your favorite dictator you POS.
FUBO & FAD
So typical of a smug, pretentious leftist. Limbaugh has said for awhile that most racism is on the left, particularly among leftist blacks. I admit I sort of discounted his comments as hyperbole until these recent attacks on Cain by Sharpton, Belafonte, Morgan Freeman, Samuel Jackson. Absolutely astonishing.
Behar is one vile racist.
Harry needs to go back to counting bananas.
Cain.
Who has a BS in Math from Morehouse?
Cain.
Who turned around companies, saving jobs in the process?
Cain.
Who had one shitty hit song 45 years ago and turned into a complete douchebag?
Well, Harry, I guess you win that one.
Bears reposting...Nicely summarized.
Thanks!
BTW it was 55 years ago,in 1956, that the Banana Boat Song was released - gotta correct my own math.
As a child, I liked Belafonte’s Calypso Music.
Then I heard a travesty of an album called “Blues Boasters and Ballads”, and I knew RIGHT THEN, at the tender age of 8, that this guy was a big fat phony.
How many Blues aficionados have THAT turkey in their collection? hahahaha
Same here. Back in my more naive days of working for the government, I managed the largest budget and the programs that needed the most attention but it was always the staff who failed at every turn who were praised. I still have a letter of commendation from other workers who saw what game the bosses were playing. It was so obvious that I’d get calls from medium level supervisors from other regions but soon this reward the dregs mentality became widespread. Then Reagan came into office and cut programs. Some of us saw the writing on the wall and found new jobs before getting replaced by the do-nothings. My replacement was a guy who hadn’t been to work for a month and never called in to let anyone know if he was coming back, sick, or what.
Fur Shur Belafonte learned how to use illegal substances on the job. Now that he’s retired he has nothing else to do but spout nonsense ~ burned out nose, burned out brain, burned out actor.
That's right, no "intelligence" with Herman Cain. Just a BS in math, an MS in computer science, while politics isn't "rocket science," Herman Cain WAS a "rocket scientist" for the US Navy! He was chairman of a national association or restaurant owners. He was chairman of the KC Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank! This coming from a guy who's best known accomplishment was his rendition of "The Banana Boat Song."
It's amazing how the left loves to call conservatives "dummies." A terrific example is President Bush. He was a dummie. But he used to fly jet fighters in the TXANG, and would have had to pass engineering classes to do so. Doesn't matter, he's a dummy. But he graduated from Yale. Doesn't matter, he's a dummy. But he earned an MBA from Harvard. Doesn't matter, he's a dummy. But his grades were better than that genius, AlGore! Doens't matter, he's a dummy.

“So we got Condoleezza Rice, we got Colin Powell. I know theyre heroes for some people, but for a lot of us theyre not.”
These people, including Clarence Thomas, Thomas Sowell, and many many others, make me proud to be an American. Any young black person in this country who has taken the time to read about Condi Rice’s life and acheivements would surely be proud of her and want to emulate her.
My choir director in HS told us, it was in the late 60s, that Belafonte was a throat singer and his style should be avoided otherwise you’ll go hoarse very quickly.
Sure enough, it was in a short time, probably less than five years of singing the Calypso Song, that his voice was completely shot. the guy now speaks in a whisper.
What do people like this guy do for a living? I mean where does he get his money from?
Cain is the best thing that could have ever happened to the Republican party and the campaign.

One can surely hope so!
Isn’t it funny that Janeane Garafalo believes that Herman Cain is a paid shill for the GOP to deflect charges of racism...but when Harry Belafonte does the SAME thing for Obama and the Left, he’s right on the money in their eyes.
Sounds like he believes that the only way any African-American can succeed is if good luck hits them. Guess it hit Belafonte too and Oprah and lots and lots of others. Now, when a white person is successful is that also by being hit by this good luck thingy? People on the left believe that humans are just windsocks tossed around by circumstances. It is a little evil to take away from someone’s efforts by calling their success merely luck.
“oh boy....wisdom from the other Calypso Louie”
Hey, harry, you worthless race pimp. Who the hell in their right mind would have bought any of your excuses for “music”, were it not for white guilt? Take some of your pimp money and buy yourself some singing lessons, and maybe some acting lessons for your racist daughter.
What's the big deal about computer science and Purdue? Well, I suppose there's that professor Douglas Comer, author of the multi-volume "Internetworking with TCP/IP." OK, so what if Jon Postel (generally acknowleged as "The Father of the Internet") was quoted as saying that Volume 1 of the set was "THE classic text for an introduction to TCP/IP." Comer IS brilliant, and I was lucky enough to meet him and attend a couple of his presentations over the years at Networld/Interop.
A CS degree, especially an MS in CS is very special!
