As far as I know, Perry is for cutting the Federal government’s scope of work and he knows, from being a governor how to do it and what to smash. He is not proposing more taxes. He will repeal Obamacare/Romneycare as he beleives healthcare is up to the states and people not the Federal government. He has walked his talk on the second amendment.
Cain is not familar with government and will be easily bamboozled and has no real track record to examine; only slogans like Obama. He said he’s replacing Federal Obamacare/Romneycare with Caincare. He’s proposing a new Federal consumption tax. He talks about more effective Federal activism in education.
Everything is not all so rosey and clear cut for the Cainbots.
You: And I (this is MTNB talking) believe we all need to lobby Congress for a law reversing the Supreme Court decision requiring the states to give K-12 education to foreign nationals in the country illegally. That decision was dealing with a Texas state law. If we get a law passed at the federal level, which is entitled under the Constitution to make law on immigration, I believe the Supreme Court would defer and the earlier ruling would no longer apply.
Me: Well, surprise. I agree with that.
I just separate the illegals from the children they brought into our country at a young age that have grown up in this country and done well with themselves. Something needs to be done to address that very small group(after the border is secured) that have committed no crime and have no country.
And I have a problem with people blaming Perry for the illegal problem when it is the Federal Government and Supreme Court that caused the problem.
I agree that the border needs to be secured by the Federal government.
I agree that the decision by the Supreme Court against Texas making illegals pay for their education K-12 should be reversed.
I think the kids that were brought over by their parents who committed no crime and have lived in the US most of their lives should be made legal. They have siblings that were born in US and are US Citizens. These are a very small group. (after the border is secured)
I do not agree with the anchor baby law and that it should be reversed as well. (after the border is secured)
I think if Texas had Alabama law - we would have most certainly been sued by the Federal Government already.
Obama sued Arizona over the immigration law.
The Alabama law is new - we will see if Obama sues the state of Alabama over this new law. If the courts don’t then I think you will probably see other states including Texas follow Alabama’s lead.
Empowering the states is something I think Perry would be for.
I think that Perry when talking about work visa’s, he is addressing the migrant workers who work in the fields and then go back to Mexico after the harvest. A lot of them believe it or not own farms in Mexico. They come over to work picking fruit and vegetables here and then return back to their farms and family in Mexico. If you run all of them off or do not allow them to work here - the economy could tank even more and food prices will go sky. I think it is this economic possibility that Perry is addressing.
HUckabee was still in the 2008 race when Cain endorsed Romney.

This isn’t about who is the better Christian. Nor am I questioning where his heart is. Our founders noted that even men with great hearts get changed by the power of being an elected official.
You never know how the stress of making decisions, the desire to make things happen, and the power to do so, will effect someone.
In Rick Perry’s case, he was strongly pro-life, couldn’t stand the thought of children dying needlessly, and he was Governor in a state where they had school vaccines. So he thought he could make a difference by adding Gardasil to the vaccine list, because it would absolutely SAVE the lives of some of the children at some point.
Most of us think that was a bad decision. But it was driven by a desire to do good, a love of life, a strong moral, spiritual background, and the POWER to take an action to advance your view.
Ronald Reagan traded arms for hostages once. Why? Because he loved life, saw a chance to save hostages, and had the POWER to do something about it. He admitted it was a mistake. But he was the great conservative icon, and did something totally against what was his nature — because he had the power to act.
So, how do we know what Cain would do if he had that power? We don’t. We won’t until he is elected and we see how he acts. It’s not that I think he is lying, or evil, or that his heart is in the wrong place. It’s that I’ve seen great men do things out of character because they had the power to do so.
It’s why we vet candidates, and why that vetting usually includes looking at their long record in public office, and why people who are NOT in public office are so hard to vet.
How many presidents have we had who didn’t first serve in other elected offices? Now, take that list — how many were strong conservatives in office, rather than pragmatists who made deals with the other side to “get things done”? If you don’t want a deal-maker, it takes a special person to resist that temptation, and you don’t know until you see how they did under temptation.
Cain reacted stupidly just like Obama did when the cops in CT questioned the professor and is still using it...when he said he would be VP for anybody but Perry ...because of the rock incident .
Cain seeing, inventing, racism where none existed is no different than Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpston! Actions speak louder than words...and we really don't know much about Herman Cain.

These empowerment zones are areas where welfare and unemployment are the highest. I would think that bringing, business/jobs back to those areas would be a good thing. People of all colors live in these areas, they are not only black neighborhoods.
Unless someone steps in, it looks like it’s Cain. I am as surprised as anyone.

I would be terrible at it. After the second or third time of giving any particular answer I wouldn't be able to bring any enthusiasm to it.
That's my big concern with him -- the learning curve.
They are not. My hope and expectation is that once we conservatives push back against this idea Cain will drop it.
A guest-worker plan would fall under the definition.
There is a world of difference, though, between a targeted guest-worker plan and a plan to fully legalize, by-right, all those in this country and put them on a path to citizenship.
The former makes some sense and might help solve our problem. The latter will destroy our country.
yep. it is the #1 hobby of most conservatives that I run into. They rarely elect anyone ... but they are experts on what is wrong with everyone runnin’.

You mean like perry did with his forced shots? Or his telling those of us who don't believe the way that he does that we don't have a heart? Will I don't have a heart big enough to give away my vote to someone I do not respect.
And that goes for romney also. I do not respect the man. He had no rejections of obamacare while it was being forced down our throats. Why? Because it was built off of his health care plan. He's not going to kill it. It's his baby.
Those are the two I will not vote for. I wanted to vote for Sarah Palin in 2012 but since she is not running I will vote for Herman Cain if he is the candidate.
If Herman Cain is not the candidate & one of the other's is chosen I will consider their positions before I will decide if they get my vote or not. (except for romney or perry because I will not vote for either one of them)
