Palin's Withdrawal Means Obama Wins
American Thinker ^ | October 8, 2011 | Robert Eugene Simmons Jr.

Unfortunately, it looks like the forces of smear, slander, and threat have finally claimed their intended victim. With Palin's announcement that she won't run for president, the election is essentially over.

The calculus is fairly simple: the media and GOP establishment want Romney to be the nominee. Once a progressive is at the head of the Republican ticket, low turnout for Republicans will hand a narrow victory to Obama.

So here is how the election will go. The media hasn't seriously opened up on Herman Cain, but most assuredly they will. Cain has been in business for decades, and the liberal media will troll through every relationship, every business deal, every word he has ever spoken. If that fails, the lies will start. To see evidence of this, we need not look at far as Palin. Rick Perry, another progressive, was attacked for something that someone painted on a rock on land his family leased out. That narrative will be used to attack both Perry and Cain -- Perry for having "allowed" it and Cain for making a big deal over "nothing." Both narratives will be forwarded, potentially in the same program. Once the liberal media goes through Cain's past with a fine-toothed comb, they will doubtless find disgruntled business adversaries, accusations of infidelity, and more.

If Palin had been in the race, the smear tactics would have failed, as the establishment and media threw everything they could possibly throw to get her out of the race. Who knows what her personal reasons, in her heart of hearts, were for not running? Perhaps she feared for the safety of her family. At any rate, there is no other conservative that has as much of a head start on the slander as Palin did....

I TRIED to read the article but just couldn’t. I’m still bummed out about Sarah.

Besides, Cain isn’t a white conservative woman who had a baby with downs syndrome. Oh, and he’s black.

Not sure how that works in crazyland. Is he off the table or on? He’s the only candidate I can support who is running.

Cain will not get the nomination....If he does I will support him.....

I sincerely hope you're wrong, unless Santorum or Bachmann come back from beyond the pale somehow to claim the nomination.

But if it's Cain, yes, I'll back him, too.

This is a very believable story.

Romney is basically a white version of Obama.

If Romney takes the nomination I can easly see depressed Rep voter turnout. I’ll still be at the polls next Nov. voting for my Rep. Reps and Senators and I’ll be voting for “Anyone but Obama” ... it will just be a 3rd party presidential candidate.

Huge Palin supporter here....Convinced my Obama voting brother to watch “The Undefeated”....As a result he started posting Palin interviews on his Facebook....He actually said he would vote for her...SHE BLEW IT....What really pisses me off is if she were to try and enter now she would look like a total idiot....Any Presidential ambitions = GAME OVER.....There is no excitement to this election now...2nd term for Obama....@@ck Romney and Perry.....Cain will not get the nomination....I could vote for him, but not another recycled McCain....Forget it....Republicans suck.....

” Now we are going to have to support whoever comes out of our primary. . . “

Consider that with Obama already the Democrat standard bearer, and many states allowing crossover voting, the Obama machine will have the ability to select the Republican candidate.

Look at the early states. New Hampshire allows independents to vote in either party’s primary but Democrats cannot cross over. NH also allows new voters to register on election day. Expect the Dems to organize independents and encourage college students to vote on election day for Romney.

South Carolina has open primaries with crossover voting. Expect a big Democrat turnout to swing the vote here. Nevada and Florida both have closed primaries. Wisconsin and Michigan allow crossover and independent voting. Arizona allows independents to vote in the Republican primary.

There is much potential for the Democrat machine to affect the choice of the Republican nominee. If it is a Romney, Kerry, Cain race when primary voting begins, expect Democrats to organize independents and Dems to vote for Romney in open Republican primaries.

This is the ABO (Anybody but Obama) year. I don’t care if they nominate Mickey Mouse, he will beat Obama. I really hate to hear conservatives moan and groan and forecast doom and gloom because their guy or gal isn’t going to be the annointed one. Get over it! Focus on the objective of getting rid of Obama.

As for Romney, the “media” attack dogs have a special plan for him. Once he secures the nomination, watch for widespread attacks on his Mormon religion. Those attacks won`t subside until The onslaught produces a comfortable double-digit lead for 0bama.

Bingo. It'll work, too. I personally don't mind Mormons. I don't find their theology to be any more fantastic than the Catholic's doctrine of Transubstantiation -- but it is strange enough to make a lot of people uncomfortable.

They'll hammer it. There will be a lot of special reports on the early days of the LDS church, on polygamy, the Mountain Meadow Massacre, etc.

It's the primary reason, I believe, why the MSM is pushing the Republicans so hard to nominate Mitt. They know they can take him out.

Article is BS. Waaaaaah, Sarah Palin is not running. All is lost, we can’t win now, it’s hopeless, blah, blah, blah.

Palin was no savior of the conservative movement or the nation. She didn’t run because she couldn’t win. Her negatives were astronomically bad and shew knew it. Her path since 2008 was not suited for a presidential campaign. Bailing on her job as governor and doing silly realityTV were never the stuff of a serious candidate. It’s been obvious for months she wasn’t running and she finally ended the silly tease campaign and confirmed it.

Geeze, let it go. The woman isn’t running. She has made this very clear. Palin is not going to reconsider because of some dopey “draft Sarah” campaign, she is not running indie, and she is not going to end up as a VP candidate to Cain or anyone else.

The field is set. People need to stop obsessing over Palin. She was not and never will be the end all be all of the Republican field or conservative movement.

the only thing that scares me is this is similar to what happened in 2008.....key candidates that were forthright and had charisma like Fred Thompson and Rudy just dropped out of sight..why?.....was it because they had inside info that the establishment was going to force barry on us no matter what?......is this what is happening now?

Seems weird...It's like they flip flop back and forth to fulfill an agenda...A Globalist agenda...

They have to get most everyone on board and and it has to be a bipartisan effort...

Shoot, towards the end, McCain was one of Obama's most vocal supporters...I'll bet McCain voted for Obama...

“Without the financial crash which conveniently happened in mid sept of 2008 McCain would have won. .....He was up 5 points at the time and the crash, which has still not been explained, is what turned the tide.....”

And it never will be explained....That timing was extremely convenient.....One thing that is obvious, Palin was responsible for that lead he had....It certainly wasn’t the McCain charisma.....I think she really had a shot at 2012 regardless of what others post here.....GAME OVER Sarah....

Real simple Obama used Chicago style political intimidation to force Palin from the race either through direct threats against her family or forged documents suggesting they would expose something about her she would want to keep secret.

Obama’s road to the White house is littered with similar victims.

“The GOP insiders have won, unfortunately it is a Pyrrhic victory. .....Perry and Cain are not devils but are simply not first tier....... They have shoved Bush, Dole, Bush , McCain and now Romney down our troats - all RINOs......I am as conservative as it gets. ......I will not vote nor will I work for Romney...... Many others will sit home as well. ....The insiders have little idea what they have just done........The financial problems of this country are so overwhelming that only a true outside reformer could have changed things.....Romney is not that outsider........

Agreed.....I cannot and will not support Romney....

Your response was:

“So, you are voting for Obama, and the Destruction of the United States as we know it, then?....”

My response is:

Your psycho babble might work on others, but not for me....My heart is not into supporting another @@@hole RINO for the common good.....Count me out too.....

I agree, this article is over the top.

I liked Palin but she never really did anything to go beyond being a "personality" candidate. If she had remained as governor of AK, things might have been different, because she wouldn't have been just a commentator but an actual participant in the political process.

But I think the result of her free-wheeling around the country giving speeches was actually to devalue her and make her sort of a cult figure. I also believe that she recognized that and I think she is sincerely a good American and was uncomfortable about having become such a "personal savior" in the minds of some. It's a role nobody can live up to; that's why Obama's leftist adherents are discouraged with him now, because they swooned and fainted and he still hasn't given them free money and made unicorns rise out of the sea.

I don't think Palin wanted to be in a situation where she had devoted groupies who hung on her every word and crashed and turned on her as soon as she did something that didn't fit their image of her. And I think her lack of participation in the political process since she left the governorship had lost her the broader support she needed to be a successful candidate.

In other words, I don't think Palin's withdrawal means Obama wins - unless the GOP picks a total RINO like Romney, who is actually the only one running who is a total RINO. One may disagree with the others on various aspects, but they're not total RINOs. Romney is the only one who is a total RINO.

Here's my comment: Sarah Palin said more in her announcement than any of the others have said at any time since January 20, 2009.

1) Stop fundamental transformation.

2) Restore what makes America great.

3) Exploit our natural resources.

4) Stop the regulatory death spiral.

That is the ONLY platform that has a shot at bringing Obama down. When one of these clowns says all that, without obvious lying (Sorry, Mitt), then I'm on board.

If not, I'm still planning to write her in.

Obama will only be beaten by somebody who is prepared to rip him apart on policy, especially on what "fundamental transformation" really means. None of them have done this, and I don't believe any of them will.

The farthest they will go is that he's incompetent.

The problem is, he's not incompetent. He has done and is doing EXACTLY what he said he would do. And his competence at our destruction is, unfortunately, quite thorough.

I think this is a defeatist stand from Palin supporter who felt defeated that she decided not to run.

I’m not going to say it’s guaranteed to happen that way. I am going to say the road back just got a lot tougher. I think Cain maybe can do it, maybe. The rest of these guys are who they are, and barring radical transformation, I’m not nearly as confident as I’d like to be that that’s enough.
