Poll: Cain surges, opens up 20-point lead on Romney
By Alexis Levinson - The Daily Caller

In news sure to inject shock and awe into the Republican political primary season, a Zogby poll released Thursday showed Herman Cain leading the Republican field, topping former front-runner Mitt Romney by an astonishing 20 points. Cain would also narrowly edge out Obama in a general election, the poll found, by a 46“44 margin.

Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, would lose by a point to the president, 40 percent to 41 percent. Texas governor Rick Perry, who has slipped in the polls of late, would lose to the president 45 percent to 40 percent.

The poll found that 38 percent of Republican primary voters said they would vote for Cain if the primary were held today. Eighteen percent said they would throw their support to Romney, while 12 percent each said they would vote for Perry and Texas congressman Ron Paul. No other candidate attracted double-digit support.

If this proves nothing else, it proves that social conservatism WINS. Even his staunch conservative stance on The Spew didn’t hurt him.

News flash, perry tied with fellow traveler ron paul. Now that is a gut buster, however, rons position is set in stone, perry just dropped by on his way down.

As a former Palin supporter, I am interested in Cain.

Mostly, his views on amnesty, and what he’d like to do about Obama/Romney-Care.

Can anyone provide a link to best give me that info.

Thanks.

I would love to see Cain as the nominee..besides all the up-side, it would take the race card out of play, except blacks would start eating each other over Cain vs. Obama.

Most Palin fans will go with Cain. That really can not be ignored.

Cain could pull a huge upset here. A contest between him and Obama would be highly entertaining, if only I believed Obama would be the democratic nominee. Too bad. It would have been a lot of fun.

Would be nice for an outsider to get hold of the republican party.

Maybe he would be able to slow the rot and decay that is the GOP.

I really can’t see a more interesting matchup than Obama vs Cain in the GE.

Does anyone else think that it might look like conservatives are backing Herm cuz “we” want to be on the soul train too? Is that rasist of me?

In the end I don’t see how it matters much. I think the debt load is going to hurl this country back into the dark ages no matter who is president.

The only person I wouldn’t vote for against Zero is McCain. I’d just move to Greece if that was the choice

Where are most of the Palin supporters going ?

Cain. He’s surging right now. He’s going to need tons of money to fight the GOP RINO establishment.
