Poll: Cain Overtakes Romney With GOP Primary Voters
Newsmax ^ | 10/4/11 | David Patten

A Newsmax/InsiderAdvantage poll shows businessman and radio talk-host Herman Cain now leading former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney among likely GOP primary voters in the fight for the 2012 Republican nomination. The exclusive poll, taken in the past 24 hours, shows Cain vaulting Romney 26 percent to 24 percent. The poll has a margin of error of 4.4 percent. Several other polls show similar results, establishing Cain as the new grass-roots frontrunner deadlocked with Romney, the establishment Republican choice. A new CBS poll showed Cain and Romney deadlocked, with each candidate garnering 17 percent of the vote. And a Quinnipiac University poll released Thursday shows Romney leading Cain 22 percent to 17 percent — a statistical tie due to the poll’s margin of error.

I think a third party vote for any candidate would put Hussein back in the White House.

Why would we want that?

imagine a Cain vs Obama debate...

It would be like watching Booker T. Washington debate Malcolm X

Thanks, that’s encouraging to hear :-) Thanks for your donation too. Just to show how grassroots this is, I read a few days ago that half his contributions were $200 or less.
I’d be glad to add you to the ping list.

I’m trying not to get too excited because i was so disappointed in Rick Perry, but still, I mean you gotta love this guy! Down to earth, solid, and a sense of humor to boot. His humility and work ethic contrasted with the juvenile community organizer - priceless.
If he can keep the momentum and turns out to be what he appears to be, he will be just what this country needs to heal from the last three years and move forward.
I hope!

I understand that most of what Cain believes are from conservative values, but i have to ask why a 9% national sales tax would be a good thing. Adding any national sales tax on top of our states sales taxes and/or county sales taxes seems like a bad idea. If I am misinformed, then I would like to hear a good explanation of this.

” . . . genuine, smart, charasmatic, and just naturally a good guy. It’s what we need — a good guy who loves the country. (with a few extra talents thrown in). When’s the last time we had that in a president??”

2000-2008.

AMEN!! We had exactly that! And I thank God daily for those years of integrity, and genuine goodness and patriotism.

The cut to 9% from 35% corporate income tax will stimulate the economy and jobs like nothing else and entice corporations to come back home, particularly since they won’t have the burden of their 7.65% share of FICA and Medicaid for their American employee’s either.

The cut to 9% personal income tax will help the VAST majority of taxpayers. Particularly since they won’t be obligated to pay 7.65% FICA and Medicaid or 15%+ if self employed. Those that don’t pay taxes now, well, their gravy train will be pulling into the station at the end of the track now won’t it?

Finally, the 9% sales tax is an entre’ to the repeal of all corporate and income taxes and the transition to the “Fair Tax”.

Simplifying the tax code in this fashion should also drastically reduce the costs of compliance. As far as I can see it’s a win-win for all but the moochers in our society. And that’s a good thing.

Cain wants to abolish or do away with the current tax code and replace it with his 999. You can read about it here.

The point is there is a huge “anybody but Romney” vote within the GOP base.

On another thread on this site, the site owner is saying he’ll go third party if Romeny gets the nomination.

It may not be the “smart” thing to do, but there is a significant percentage of the GOP base that decided McCain was the last straw, and they aren’t going to do it again.

Romney may actually be unelectable.

If Romney is the nominee and conservatives choose to support a 3rd party candidate instead of staying home, I’d say they deserve to be under 0bama, Holder, & Co. Note that I’m comparing supporting 3rd party and staying at home, not voting for Romney and staying at home.

Romney is polling at @ 25%. That means 75% of the voters DON’T WANT ROMNEY. Once this race narrows down to two main candidates that will become apparent. It is not now...

Complete Godfather’s Pizza Sales Figure from the Herman Cain Years

Black Enterprise Magazine, Feb 1988

Herman Cain bases his campaign for the presidency on his success as a manager and CEO of Godfather’s Pizza. Herman Cain claims to have brought Godfather’s Pizza from the edge of bankruptcy to profitability during his time there. He has never released any annual profit and loss statements to back this up. The company reached all time high profits in 1983, was still profitable in 1984, and only apparently was not profitable in 1985 due to a lawsuit. That lawsuit was settled before Cain became manager in 1986. It is a false statement that the company was on the edge of bankruptcy when he took over.

The only real objective evidence that is publicly available for how well he did is annual sales. How much did sales increase or decrease during Cain’s time at Godfather’s Pizza? Competition wise, Godfather’s dropped from fifth largest sales among Pizza chains to 11th during the time he was associated with the company. Here is a year by year breakdown:

B.C. (Before Cain)

1983: $340 million[i]

1984: $365 million[ii] (900 stores)

1985: $325 million[iii] (720 stores)

Pillsbury assigns Herman Cain to run Godfather’s Pizza in April 1986

1986: $275 million[iv] (640 stores)

1987: $260 million[v] (605 stores) (sales per store $414,000)[vi]

1988: $242.5 million[vii] (563 stores) Pillsbury sells Godfather’s Pizza to Cain and management group in a leveraged buyout for $40 million.

1989: $225 million[viii] (509 stores)

1990: $229 million[ix] (512 stores)

1991: $231 million[x] (525 stores)

1992: $242 million

1993: $249.5 million

1994: $244 million[xi] (514 stores) (sales per store 490,000)

1995: $260 million (525 stores)

1996: $265.5 million (540 stores) (sales per store $500,000) Cain becomes CEO of the National Restaurants Association in 1996, but was still on Godfather’s Management Board.

1997: $270.8 million[xii]

1998: $280 million

1999: $280 million

2000: $288 million[xiii]

2001: $280 million

2002: $287 million (560 stores) (sales per store 502,200)[xiv] Cain steps down from Godfather’s Management Board

2003: $304 million[xv]
