Both Hot Air and The Drudge Report are reporting that the Perry campaign will report that it raised a fairly impressive $17 million during the 49 days of the 3rd quarter that the campaign was active.
Ed Morrissey breaks the numbers down:
The pace is even more impressive. Perry had 49 days in which to raise funds, rather than the full 92 days of the quarter, a rate of about $349,000 a day. The final debate in September didn't hurt Perry's fundraising rate, either. In the 42 days prior to the Orlando debate, their rate was $323K per day; in the eight days following the Orlando debate, that escalated to $478K per day. Perry's on-line operation did well, too, drawing in $1.1 million - despite, as my source says, not driving contributions with their on-line ads.

While the establishment is pushing Romney and tried to push Christie, there are plenty of people who recognize that Perry is our electable conservative who can beat Obama.
Watch him rebound!

Is this supposed to be comforting? Where did all that big money come from? That ain’t small, TEA Party style donors.
Prior to the numbers coming out:
“But on Monday, Reuters cited campaign fundraising volunteers who said Perry’s late-breaking bid for the Republican nomination has grossed more than $10 million.
Political scientist Candice Nelson, academic director of the Campaign Management Institute at American University in Washington, D.C., says that amount of money in so short a time would be an achievement.
“He’s only been in the race for six weeks,” she says. If he in fact has raised $10 million or more, it would be “more than any candidate other than Romney raised in the second quarter.”
Merck has pretty deep pockets...
Lliz posted I another thread most of this money is coming from big donors..you know the kind buying influence.
People are voting with their pocketbook. Like it or not, this is a free, capitalist country — elections run on money. Obama has no primary opponent and is raising millions — it takes money to compete with him in the general elections. Perry is proving himself to be a good fundraiser, which is vastly more important than being a good debater.
The “establishment” is supporting Romney — fortunately there are some sensible people who don’t want Romney and recognize the obvious that only Perry can beat Romney.
Christie money backers may go to Romney

“At least one well-heeled backer of New Jersey Governor Chris Christie shifted support to former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney on Tuesday after Christie declined to join the Republican presidential race, and others are expected to follow.
After Christie’s announcement, Home Depot co-founder Ken Langone signed up with the Romney camp, according to the campaign.”
Money keeps him in the race, but money don’t buy love.
As his money goes up... his chances and polling go down.

One thing for sure we know from Perry's record, is he will pay them back if elected.
Pay to play the Texas way, let's put in our bunch so we can repay them instead of those Chicago players......./s
Now to be fair, some GOP candidates also raised mammoth amounts of cash, and we need to ask them, too: What, if anything, do their donors expect in return for their investments? We need to know this because our country cant afford more trillion-dollar thank you notes to campaign backers. It is an important question, and it cuts to the heart of our problem - SP
Exactly, someone is propping him up and it isn’t the Tea Party conservatives....
Palin could raise that overnight.
“As his money goes up... his chances and polling go down.”
Totally wrong — being able to raise money shows the confidence people have in him.
IF you'd rather NOT be pinged FReepmail me.
IF you'd like to be added FReepmail me. Thanks.

Money has apparently bought him fourth place. Hey, it bought Romney third last time........
OK, here is the quote from the Hot Air thread on the same subject...
“The campaign has $15 million cash on hand from its $17.1 million haul. Team Perry wanted 18,000 contributors in this quarter, and finished with over 22,000. More than 60% of their contributors donated $250 or less, which means that they can keep going back to them for more money.”
Of course, as Rudy taught is well last time around, raising money doesnt necessarily mean anything if it doesnt translate into votes, or if Perry continues shooting himself in the foot.
There's a lot of truth to that. No doubt that money is important. Yet, Romney raised over $18 Million April to June. Does that make him a better candidate?
Oh it’s so sad. And they wasted all that money.
