Sarah Palin-affiliated law firm made early-state deadline inquiries
Politico ^ | 10/04/2011 | Maggie Haberman

Ken Vogel and I both have sources telling us that calls were made on behalf of a mystery candidate to various early states to determine presidential filing deadlines. Continue Reading

The calls were made by representatives of the law firm Baker Hostetler - a firm that employs lawyer Mark Braden, who represents Sarah PAC, her political action committee.

As Ken notes, while he nor representatives of Palin’s campaign would comment on the calls, Palin is the only GOP politician eying the presidential race who is represented by the firm.

It wouldn’t be the first time that her representatives have sought information on the deadlines marking the ever-shifting GOP calendar.

The current thinking in GOP election law circles is that the first hard cut-off for entering the race is Oct. 28, when presidential candidates who hope to appear on the ballot in the New Hampshire primary would be required to submit a filing fee from a federally registered presidential campaign committee.

As has been discussed before, Milt Romney IS NOT ELIGIBLE.

Just like Obama the Kenyan. Romney is Mexican-American
and not eligible because his family gave up their
US citizenship for polygamy.

Sorry. NO SALE on your bizarre ineligible RINO.

Ha! I thought about that more than a few times. I did see a man who looked suspiciously like Donald Trump sniffing around the Honolulu Court House, though...

No one here cares very much about Romney-phile Coulter
anymore.

Coulter is a RINO. Loves the RINO. RINO.

Too bad. Fixable. Maybe.

Liar liar pants on fire.

I was told I 'begrudge' Sarah Palin making money. The multiple posts you linked do not give that impression at all. Thanks for doing the research to back up my view, FRiend. You saved me a lot of work! Now, will you retract calling me a liar, since in none of those posts do I begrudge Palin making money? Why do the fanatical Palin supporters get so defensive when someone points out that Palin is making a lot of money?

I’m just pointing out facts. Instead of announcing a candidacy, Sarah Palin is continuing her paid jobs in the private sector. It’s extremely relevant at this point, isn’t it? Plus, what is wrong if money is a motive for her words and her actions? Isn’t that the conservative/capitalist approach to economics?

She’s not doing the Korea gig for free, right?

And here I thought you were even more cynical than I. IMO, this story is as big a nothing as possible. It doesn’t say Braden was asked or even authorized to call. Any attorney worth his salt who represents a client who is considering a run would be calling to verify filing deadlines, especially given the shifting voting dates. He’d be a damned fool NOT to call directly to the offices in the various states that are charged with setting the deadlines and accepting petitions.

I am going to be so lost once she does announce, one way or the other. These threads bring back the wonderful, long ago memories of driving my kids around: “are too” “are not” are TOO” “are NOT.” They’re just a variant of a walk down memory lane!

“She can’t give a paid speech if she is an announced candidate. “

Are you quite sure about that?

That made me laugh. I truly don’t know what to make of it. Could be something. Could be nothing. Clear as mud.

Interesting. Then the only thing keeping Sarah Palin from running is Sarah Palin. She can announce and still make money. Win/win!!

Palin can easily beat Romney in NH.

She drew thousands, while all Mitt drew was the MSM.

What a great American couple the Palins are. Each has accomplished so much individually, and look what they’ve built together. I can’t imagine the dark days of the campaign when their future was being attacked on all sides. Most families would have turned and run. This family has come back bigger, stronger, and more in your face than ever.

We need them.

Are you just going to spam that link all over the board? I had a conversation with Jim. We also exchanged private messages. I get where he is coming from, and we actually had a decent conversation. I’m proud of that conversation.

Hey, side question. Is Rick Perry’s recent slide in the polls because Rupert Murdoch is paying to prop up Romney?

The Korea gig is in Korea, how about that!

Candidates are not required to be unemployed.
