AMANDA KNOX ACQUITTED, TO BE RELEASED IMMEDIATELY
CNN had numerous reports from a “reporter” who had written a book about how guilty Knox was. No bias there, huh?
“You should take your own advise and study the facts, with an open-mind, somwhere other that a pro-Knox propaganda site.”
I have studied the facts, with an open mind, by reading five different books on the case and web sites from both the pro-prosecution and defense perspective, plus the Massei report. As you so correctly state, there is no reason to argue now. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Thanks!
The interrogations were measured in dog hours
There was no “retrial.” The defense disputed two pieces in the appeal.
My parents paid for me to go to school in Spain for a year, back in the 70s. With tuition, flight, room, and board they about broke even with what they would have paid for the school year if I’d lived at home and attended school as a day student. For parents paying for college tuition it’s not out of line. A lot of the state schools offer and encourage programs abroad for a term, which appears to be exactly what she was doing.
Different judge, different jury, Sounds like a retrial to me. If you want to nitpick, fine. Don’t worry you’ll find somebody else to hate on.
oops double posting not on purpose. its a glitch :).
great points, I specify “whiteness” in this particular case only because I do not believe a similar cultural reaction would have occurred had Knox been a minority. We probably would have never heard of her at all had that been the case.
If I had to write a deeper, sociological analysis piece on this I would entitle it “Amanda Knox Goes Free and Secular White America Feels Implicated”
I also find Meredith Kercher’s background interesting and symbolic. She’s half British and Indian...She was social and “partied”, but not to the extent of Amanda’s extremes causing friction between them—it feels sort representative of the overall conflict lots of second generationers feel between holding to their cultural and moral upbringing and assimilating into a mainstream culture in search of itself (Americans in particular can often feel a lack of rootedness and identity constancy) - A mainstream youth culture revolving around promiscuity and the like.
Also worth noting is Lumumba, the African man who Knox initially blamed for the act and was tried...He was sentenced quickly (but acquitted soon after?) as well apparently.
Anyhow, I also think many Americans, deep down, feel an inferiority complex to richly cultural and historical lands like the village of Perugia, Italy. The lamestream media used this whole fiasco as a way to pat ourselves on the back for having such an advanced and supposedly just court system...Of course, its hard for people to fathom a town where the highest official sentence on the books is 26 years because of low crime rate (its lack of development perhaos contributes to its state of relative innocence) and a Catholic skepticism of the death penalty. It must be even harder to fathom a society that doesn’t revolve around legal transactions, custody battles, intricate insurance claims, property policies, lawyers, and obsessive suing.
Yup in many ways, Amanda Knox IS the current state of America: morally corrupt and tended toward destroying and corrupting whatever feeds her feelings of inferiority and inadequacy—and refusing to engage in any of the thorough self examination necessary for repentance. Nope all that matters is maintaining the freakish Darwinian impulses of self-preservation and survival.
And the nerve of some in the media to suggest the prosecution team’s use of words like “demonic” when describing the nature of the crime as backwards, superstitious, and antiquated! Praise God for the places left in the world that have a spiritual pulse and sensibility—because the soul sapping bureaucratized American systemization of society hasn’t been introduced.
Some of the keywords are disgusting! I swear we have DU people here!
You are just going off what the lamestream media and Knox’s skilled hired team of PR campaigners feeds you. There was a ton of fishiness going on with the RE-trial and the jury was totally different! Don’t get me started on the so called “independent” team of investigators probing around to find whatever minute technicalities they can manipulate to Knox’s advanatage.
Don’t expect CNN or Fox to interview the family of the murdered victim and get their take. Don’t expect them to interview the original investigation team, jury, and prosecutor...nope they’re just backwards Italin ethnics who can’t speak English what do they know...But you’ll hear a lot from Mr. Knox, who like most divorced Americans know a thing or two legal manipulation. If they can master a system driving the American family unit apart surely they know how to bring their smarts to a country village thats “not as advanced.”
Anybody who thinks we live in a country where the rule of Law is king js blind. We are under the rule of Money and unchecked Power. Yet the media wants to make our deterioriating and guilty society (embodied in the person of Amanda Knox) feel better about itself...So hey! At least we’re not like those dumb Italians.
*rolleyes*
Well, you could move to Italy, since you seem to have so much contempt for Americans and our “innocent until proven guilty” concept.
Ms. Knox was "interviewed" by the Italian Police for 56 hours. That is not an accumulative total, that was nonstop hours without sleep and without legal council present. For reference, a person will undergo hallucinations after about 72 sleepless hours.
Saying that, I am just trying to convey my general feeling that society tends to very quickly forget the underlying crime and victim, and begin finding sympathy with the accused.
I don't dispute that the media circus surrounding some trials is totally over the top but no matter how the press stirs the pot the trial itself goes on in the eye of the storm, untouched by the frenzy.

GtG
hah! as i said before we are not under Rule of Law in this country. its Rule of Money...among other things. Is there a parallel with the current state of our government and the vast representation Lawyers have in the seats of power in DC?
innocent until guilty? LoL...sure
This country is a mess, just like amanda knox...and our legal system has become a miry swamp of scum and our media is toxic.
Crooks run our government...but luckily the LORD has raised up excellent leaders by the likes of Sarah Palin, Rand Paul, and others...in various facets of society—not just government and there are people who see goodness and truth to be goals worth striving.

Why do you double post just about every comment? You’re wasting bandwith with the second....not to mention the first.
Ann Coulter has written extensively on both cases and I agree that the Duke kids were wrongly tried...I also agree with Coulter that Knox is guilty. She has provided the best analysis of the Knox case of any in the US media. Kudos to her.
But indeed the parallels yes. Like Knox, Duke kids were perverts relishing in the kind of scummy, trashy behavior that has come to define and dominate the current state of our culture. The Duke lacrosse players embody the decline of manhood among all too many males in this country. No honor, no chivalry, no intellectual depth, or spiritual introspection—nope as long as you get into college, play a sport, and get a good job in the end, you are “ok” despite your tendencies toward lap dances, porn addiction, and alcoholism. Well at least fraternities promote “brotherhood” via hazing and parties where date rape drugs are served can raise money for “charity.”
There’s a glitch on this smart phone I am using that leads to double posting. Not my intention. I try to post minimally on FR in general.
You clearly don’t know what the hell you are talking about. Shut off your computer and go read a book about crime and punishment.
Well goddamn, I sure hope you aren’t thrown in jail and convicted of murdering someone that you had nothing to do with.
Jesus Christ, grow the hell up. Really? Are you really this stupid?
The fact that you insist on crucifying this innocent girl and her innocent boyfriend in the face of reason and facts leads me to believe that you are a moron. That’s what bothers me.
The prosecutor is a f***ing moron as apparently are you for believing his whacked out bull***. Do you have absolutely no critical thinking skills?
